Advice with keywords - category - Forum
The overall idea makes sense as you want to target specific people who are really looking for the kind of content you offer but what the suggestion about keywords and description there is a slight problem and that is that this will also kick the users who are searching for nightlife in Birmingham... How about going like this? Title: What’s on in the Nightlife of Birmingham? Description: carry on with the result of the information in the description. This way you will kick the irrelevant searches as well as welcome the people who are looking for your kind of content. Hope this helps!

We have 5 postions on page 2 in a google search, but none on page 1\. How can we fix this?
Since panda and penguin is actually very common see article below http://www.seroundtable.com/google-same-result-same-page-15287.html

Page authority 1 for new URLs
Joram is correct here. We don't crawl the web as deep or as fast as Google. Our crawl updates about once a month, so right now we're showing you data from before you made your URL change. It'll be 1-2 updates before we see the new URL and start reflecting accurate information about its metrics.

Which pages should use rel="canonical" links?
Google will still crawl canonical pages. How soon the index will reflect that will depend on how fast that crawl happens. I'm not sure there's anything you can do to speed that up.

Which Blog Platform to link to an eCommerce site is best?
Tech team at 3dcart said there is no way of fixing their blog. Pretty crazy they released it like that. Is it better to create a subdomain blog.domain name or can I just put the self hosted WP blog in a folder to my site like this: domainname/blog? I just want Google to see fresh content to my site all the time, I'd go with whichever one works best.

I would have to say, checkout The Beginner's Guide to SEO, specifically chapters 4,5,6,7. Good luck!

Keyword Placement in Page Title - will changing it make a big difference?
Yep, I like this one too Dana. I'm sure "UK Clubbing Guide" would have more searches than "Clubbing Guide for the UK" anyway.

Too many links??
Dana Thanks very much for your answer I am of the same belief, I think Matt Cutts has just got me all concerned from reading to much about linking penalties and the ever confusing "Information of Mis-information" as I affectionately call it in the office. have a great day. Ryan

SeoMoz Pro - Keyword stuffing but its a forum
Cheers, I very much appreciate your comments dana!! from your opinion, should I fill / wait / for the forums to fill up with content then add more areas, or add more areas now and gradually fill the forums, its a catch 22, more forums = less busy = less attractive, but more area's = wider audience = more traffic (sort of) what you think about this?

Seomoz.org Category and Tags practice
Thanks for the complete answer! I also have an old site with around 1000 posts and also around 4000 products and just use categories. It is quite difficult to arrange everything and I was wondering how do you do it. In fact you just have categories in sidebar and then "sections" in the main menu so user can nav in your site. As I see it, the important thing is usability and easing the navigation. "urls" dont mind so much. Thanks again

One product two audiences, two pages or one
As it is now I saw H2 = Category, I would try something like Crewel Wool - Swatches, etc. To me, the meta description is the most underutilized tool in most web site arsenals. You can do so much with them. So, do that and as you go clean up what you can. It will all help. Best

How should we handle ecommerce section pages (flagged with duplication) containing the same products?
Yes - to both you and @MagicDude4Eva - it seems this is about the thin content as opposed to the index of products listed there. Page titles and URLs are indeed unique, but the content can certainly be worked on. Thanks a lot for your help

What to do when writing unique product descriptions is impractical?
Thanks Miriam, they're a bit reluctant to hire a copywriter because of the relatively short shelf life of many of the books. I think it's a matter of prioritising and working through as many high priority descriptions as possible. Thanks for the advice!

Duplicate content
Hey Ron - you'll want to set up a permanent (301) redirect from http://www.cedaradirondackchairs.net/index.html to http://www.cedaradirondackchairs.net (without a slash at the end). You appear to be on a Windows/IIS server which I'm not as familiar with, but if you have IIS access you should be able to set the redirect up with one of their modules or webconfig I think. This stackoverflow thread may have the answer to your question: http://serverfault.com/questions/116025/iis-301-redirect-from-index-html-to-for-seo-canonicalization You'll also want to change the home button on each page of your site to point to http://www.cedaradirondackchairs.net instead of http://www.cedaradirondackchairs.net/index.html.

Minimum Title Tag Length
Agreed. Always do what is best for the user. Sometime people stuff their title tags to get most "bang for the buck" and often times this can hurt them. I always look at the title as a cta in the organics and try to make them compelling and unique and don't care that much about min. length.
