Onsite Blogging Vs Guest Blogging
Thanks, that really clears things up! For now, our main objective is traffic, so I'll keep the majority of my writing on our blog.

Best places to get pictures for blog posts?
That's a great list Keri - thanks for sharing that. (bookmarked). Charles - check out http://www.stockvault.net in particular from the page that Keri sent through, I had a quick look and some of the free images on there are pretty good for standard blog posts.

Access to a Clients Google Places Account
I agree with Mr. Wignall's and Ms. Ellis' responses--tell them to change the password temporarily for you, then change it back afterwards. I always tell clients that it's partly for MY protection, i.e. if they have someone else at their company who knows their login (or their login is hacked), I want a 0% chance that they think I might be the problem. Also, you do NOT want to claim it under your own account: you would be artificially giving Google information that that account and other clients of yours might be co-owned, or co-managed (so, are any links between them really editorial?), and more importantly Google local search has more confidence in the listing being claimed by the real owner if the domain name of the email address claiming it = the domain name of the website (see this thread as well)

If we use content copied from another site ( assuming we have not plagerized), does it hurt our Google Rankings?
Todd, Thanks for your response. Allow me to expand on our challange. We are an ACE Hadware store and sell hardware online. We have about 60,000 SKU's in our online stores. We have two problems when it comes to duplicate content. First, all of our product content comes from ACE Hardware's catalogue. Since ACE Hardware also has an online store, all of our content will be exactly the same as ACE Hardware's. So it's duplicate. Second, we frequently copy manufacturer's information and insert it into our site to help decribe a produc't features and benefits. So once agasin it duplicate. With 60,000 SKU's it's not possible to rewrite all the copy, besides how many different ways can you describe a hammer. Thanks, Paul

Is it advisable to have unique pages for different cities/states though there wouldnt be any actual differentiation in the actual content.
no worries. As of some of the previous answer were suggesting that it depends on many other things too, for example: Are you selling those 'hammers' online or do you have shops in each city? If Online only, then having a page for hammer/s and add tags for the city's. The question to ask then: what is the user experience and what content do I have for the city tags page? Have a look at the below document from SEOmoz, if you haven't read it yet. http://www.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-seo/how-usability-experience-and-content-affect-search-engine-rankings If there are shops in each City, then you will have the information for those shops in the tag page for the City... Address, phone opening hours etc.... hope this helps you further.

How effective are online press releases for SEO purposes?
A service like pr web is very good for well written and targeted releases. It's ability to target specific journalists and niches can mean you get decent secondary coverage on niche sites e.g the last pr I wrote got covered by a local news site. Links on many pr sites themselves are worth next to nothing as google must have them on their panda/penguin radar.

3rd Party Commenting System for Wordpress Blog
Thank You Marie Haynes for the answer. I too heard of Google Commenting System, But is it worth waiting till they release it? Should i go with the default wordpress commenting system till then? Facebook Comments are now indexable. So isn't that a good option to go for it. I do agree that it's very difficult to moderate Facebook comments. But I think facebook commenting system will generate us tons of traffic, isn't that worth going for this? Also, Can we use both facebook and default comment system in blog? If so How? How can we integrate both? Please do refer me to some useful articles on achieving this.

What is the Best Premalink Structure and Why?
Thank You for the comment. If i use it, Each Post will get unique ID, so that while using this if i deindex categories and tags, all my urls would be unique. Also, Let's say my competitor writes on a post called "iPhone Jailbreak" and if he uses the same title as me, then the post id which i have has a unique number, so that i'll stand out above them. This is what i'm thinking. Am i Wrong? If so, can you suggest me better and link me to few articles so that i can get some good knowledge.

Blog and Website = 2 different URL's - Is it WORTH to merge content on to one site
Yes, assuming all else is good - theoretically it will help the SEO because you'll have more content on the site. And its not only SEO - think of user experience and that's usually synonymous with "good SEO" nowadays... the USER will have a better experience with everything under one roof too

Guest Blogging Question!
No. You don't need to have the same anchor text occur in the post and the author bio. Just write your best stuff, and include natural supporting links in the copy and in your bio.

Adding a picture page - Good or Bad?
There are a few reasons. If you look at the rest of the pages from my site, the company I sell for also sells lots of other products that have "celebrity" trainers, plus there are some fun pics of TV placement spots. Lots of "fun stuff" that I'd like to add that just didn't happen to work on a product page. Plus, it would give me more material to Pin on Pinterest to help drive traffic. I guess my real question is... From a strictly SEO aspect, would it be detrimental to my site to have a Gallery page with links back to some of my other pages?

Fresh content ideas for a static site?
I've just built an eCommerce site as well, and it can definitely be tricky to keep the information fresh, especially if you're in a market that's not constantly releasing the newer, faster, better versions of the products you're selling, or if you have a small niche-focused inventory. Like Alan said, updating a section of the homepage with snippets from a separate blog or industry news is a wonderful way to keep fresh content on your homepage, and it also lets potential customers know that you actively maintain your site and are knowledgeable about the products you sell. Another thing you might consider is dedicating a section of your homepage to a featured product or special that changes once a month or so. If you do go this route, don't just put a picture of the product under a heading that says "Featured Product" with a link to the product page. A small variation in content like that won't do much good. Dedicate a little more time and space to the section and provide product descriptions, reviews, etc on the homepage itself. -Anthony

How Does Traffic Reach My Blog?
Hi Lindsay - have you got Google Analytics or similar tracking code installed, as this will allow you get a better picture of where you traffic is coming from. My first thought on this is that your most popular article is likely to be ranking better than the others or ranking well for a particular keyword that is generating this traffic. There are lots of factors that can cause one article to get more traffic than the others but your articles are never likely to have the same amount of traffic as they have different keywords in titles and other text on page, so they are likely to rank for different things. Also it only takes one person to retweet your article that hasn't had interest in the others and this can then cause that article to gain more attention (visits), if for instance they are an authority, without direct tweets of the article (people clicking through from a tweet about this article from a social influencer). The whole concept of social influencers. This article might have had a title that caught more attention or was more relevant at the time it was posted to social networks - this would lead to more visits and potentially more links. In turn this is likely to cause more traffic to your individual article. I would also suggest looking into the links to that page in comparison with the others. If you do have Google Analytics installed I would go to content select your article url and then investigate traffic sources using the secondary dimension drop down option. This will help you understand where your traffic is coming from to this page. You can then compare it to the others for a better picture.

Keep or remove a link directory with 700 entries?
Hi Matt + Alan, thanks for your fast answers! Well, the directory only gets 0,33% of all traffic. So I will delete it, that saves the maintenance time + cost. Best wishes, Georg.
