Putting the same thing all over the place isn't a solid strategy. You risk confusing search engines and ultimately working against yourself.

Hi, 404 pages won't affect your site performance in any way - aslong as you don't heavily link to those pages internally. Redirecting, in my opinion, is not a very good idea - as long as you don't have some better content that is touching the exact same subject, in a better way, as the old page. if this is not the case - I would't spend any more time on those - Google will clean them up after 3-4 bot visits. cheers !

One additional point you could make to attract participants is that writing about their area of expertise can actually make them more of an expert. Only when we write do we really solidify our thoughts and opinions. By contributing articles, you not only "show your expertise," you grow your expertise. Hope this helps!

I meant include this robot in the subdomain not include the subdomain in the robot.  Was answering an employee at the same time and crossed some wires.  

I couldn't agree more! I believe the only reason that they didn't want personal narrative is because of some bad information about that style being bad for SEO; but as I have expressed to them, it's not! Appreciate your response!

What if the user gave his original post a rel="canonical" tag?

If the blog posts have true value and if there has not been a big investment in offpage SEO, I would simply move them to the primary domain. That will be a big increase in benefit over what you currently are getting. If you can figure out a way to canonical or redirect that will be a huge bonus as long as you have not built spammy links.

Better setup your blog on same domain. Example http://www.bridalhotspot.co.uk  - Magento http://www.bridalhotspot.co.uk/blog/ - Wordpress Updates on blog - new post every 2-3 days. For your market it not hard because you can post news not only about your own clothing but about celebrity wedding etc.

Hello Pedro, I think you are making a very wise decision. If you have already been throttled by Panda this could be what you need to bring the site out of it. If not, this could be what you need to save you from a future update. In fact, Matt Cutts recently answered a question about this sort of thing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adocBLGQoYE Note: The question is about "no results" pages but he discusses similar scenarios as well. These sort of "stub pages" have been a thorn in Google's side for many years, and rest assured they will continue to find ways of keeping them out of the index - including punishing the good content on sites that use them. As Infant Raj mentioned below, be sure the URLs return a 404 status code in the http header, which will ensure more prompt removal from the index than if they were to redirect or show a 200 status code. I'd ignore the first paragraph in his answer though.

i use google adsense on www.in2town.co.uk but i am not sure the text ads are working as since the 1st april we have not had any clicks and tried contacting google to find out if the text ads are working. how do the image ads compare to the text ads in revenue, and the links ads, do you have a good example of how these are used. can you have three google adsense ads and a link ad or do you have to just have three in total

To be successful at newsjacking you need one of two things.... A) a powerful site that can toss second-rate content high into the SERPs B) a brilliant mind that can come up with fantastic perspectives that everyone who reads them will want to share "B" is the better path if you can do it because it enables you to build a following. If you have either of those you might be more successful at specializing in the type of content that really interests you and that you can plan for rather than getting up everyday like a hungry vulture who has to find something in the news to scavange. Now, if you are like Jay Leno and have a great team of writers and a great ability to present, then maybe you can do a really good job at newsjacking. There is no substitute for hard work, resources and talent.

Hi Bastian, Finding urls to keep is simple. Just login to your Google Analytics and Check the tab "Content". You will find all the urls and their pageviews. Sort down the necessary urls. Recommended: It is recommended to add 301 redirects from all the old urls to new urls. Also add a custom 404 page after the launch. Login to webmaster tools to find more errors. Regards, Infant Raj
