  • I think people may be misunderstanding your question and thinking you want to make a feed of your content on your own sites. You're wanting to create a feed of content you've written and published on several different article directories / databases so I think Yahoo Pipes will be a good bet: http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/ . I should mention though that the reason these aren't indexed is probably more to do with the quality of article directories and the content found on them. Google doesn't tend to think very highly of them and I personally wouldn't build links using this type of site these days. Just my two cents. Good luck!

  • Themes like Thesis and Genesis are mostly good for SEO because they contain all the necessary information for SEO, think about H1, H2 and other headings etc. So you  even more have to bother about using these tags when coding your own template or pages (when you're not using a CMS like WordPress). However of course when you follow all the rules and comply to all Schema's available you can, of course create the same quality of code. Don't forget to check out Yoast 's review about Genesis here.

  • it doesnt matter. Like they said, just continue to write here's a tip, especially for starting blogs, it helps a lot if you be consistent with the amount of posts and content you produce.

  • I doubt it. Google authorship has only been around for a couple years now, but everybody is tagging their older posts from years back. Author rank is really only speculation at this point, and the only impact that including authorship markup will have is displaying the author snippet in the SERPs.

  • Generally domain.com/blog is the best option. Using that structure will help you build the value of domain.com.

  • Hi Tim, The first step is to determine if your content has been reproduced without your permission. The easiest way to do this is to simply search Google. Take a unique part of your content - a sentence of two, and wrap it in quotes for an exact match search, like this: http://www.google.co.uk/search?q="No+one+wants+to+work+with+someone+who’s+boring%2C+or+messy%2C+or+an+a-hole."&pws=0&gl=us You can also limit your search to a particular site with the site: operator. Dr. Pete has a good article about it. Or you can use one of several tools like Copyscape. To be honest, sites steal and scrape content all the time. Most of the time it isn't a problem, but occassionaly you may find folks misrepresenting you, profiting from your content or hurting your rankings. If this is the case, you should work to have the content removed. This can range from a simple letter to the webmaster to an official DMCA takedown notice, although it rarely comes to this. Hope this helps! Best of luck.

  • Hi blackrino, As mentioned, to optimize keywords on your website it is recommended to use the keywords in the first 100 words of text on the site. More importantly, ensure the keywords are also utilized in the meta tags (title, description, and alt attribute) in your page source; this way, the text is easier for Google crawlers to read. Make sure the location of your business is notable on the landing page; you do not need to stuff the page with the exact keywords, but you can mention location more than once if necessary. As well, feel free to list your business address on the main page, and be sure to add your business to Google Places if you haven’t already.

  • Yes, I would focus on the high value pages first, then work your way from there, unless there are striking distance product pages that you think you could bump up with a bit of content.

  • The number of categories on your blog can grow over time if you write about a diversity of topics.  To justify a category you should have a few existing posts in that category or anticipate generating a few posts within a reasonable amount of time. Extremely active blogs can support, and probably should have, a large diversity of categories simply to organize the content better and gain keyword reach in the search engines. Another factor is the power of your site.  If you have a new site without a lot of power then busting out 100 categories could be like dead weight on your entire site. I have a blog that over the past several years has received 25 to 60 posts per week.  It has over 150 categories and each post goes into at least two categories (one for geographic location and one for topic area).  Most of the blog's search engine traffic flows in through category pages because they rank well for high traffic terms.

  • Hi, This is what I found that could match your needs: It sounds like you want to display an RSS feed within your HTML website. The easiest way to do this is to use RSS2HTML a free PHP script. This means that you can retain the complete control of the HTML layout (using templates) and make it match your existing design. Additionally using PHP rather than JavaScript will mean that search engine spiders can "spider" the contents of the RSS feeds. Additional details and a free rss2html download is available at:http://www.feedforall.com/more-php.htm Additional information and other options for displaying RSS feeds can be found at:http://www.rss-specifications.com/displaying-rss-feeds.htm Hope it helps.

  • You definitely have the right approach. It's amazing how many people think they ought to rank for content even when it is duplicated on other sites. By adding some value to the content and making it more or less unique will only pay dividends.

  • Perhaps, I have no experience with such a thing.. However I am sure a good enough programer can design an app with that functionality.

  • Hi Edward, Great question! It's important to understand that, in the Local business arena, business descriptions will automatically be duplicated across numerous platforms because certain data providers feed listing info to many others. If you take a look at David Mihm's Local Search Ecosystem graphic, you will see how some of these relationships work: https://getlisted.org/static/resources/local-search-data-providers.html So, because this type of duplication is baked into the system, there is nothing you can do about some amount of duplicate content when you are creating listings for your local business. That being said, I think it's a good idea to write 2-3 different descriptions when building citations because different platforms allow you to publish descriptions of different lengths. Take advantage of those platform that allow you to offer a fuller write-up of the business, by all means! And that goes for wedding-specific directories as well. If you are allowed to write a unique and detailed description on a prestigious wedding site, I think it will be worth your time to create something new. But you will never avoid duplication in a citation campaign, simply because of the data feeds going from one platform to another. This is not something I would worry about.

  • Thanks Miriam, well I do have 6 weddings there this year and the commute with kids is not so fun as I thought it would be so more of a hassle and really need business here for now. And the errors are years of errors before I did not know any better and like in the thousands, I don't see a way to bulk fix errors and thus why I considered new one, I was just not sure if I just left old one up and started fresh but then how long to start getting some page rank and authority ya know. decisions decisions.

  • An interesting aspect of Disqus is you can monetize it. In addition, it provides a short list of topics from your site and "around the web" below the comments. I have received traffic from Disqus to my variety of sites and some has earned a few pennies. It's the traffic that interests me.
