What I mean by real value:

Link wheels are just websites you create, put a bit of (spun) content on it and link to your main site or to another site in the link wheel. It is not really adding anything to the web. It is just getting you rankings.

Why not try to make genuine, real content people appreciate and link to, talk about on social media, etc. That way, in the long run, getting links and getting higher rankings is actually much much easier. Because you don't have to do any more work.

Make something great, that people will like and they will create a unique "link wheel" if you like, for you!

• Scrape Google?

• Make your own scraper and keep the requests per second really low ?

• Maybe the site has an automated sitemap somewhere ?

• Google webmaster tools -> download "internal links" table

This will be considered duplicate content. If you want to give full credit to the original post, you can also add a rel=canonical tag to the head of that page. That way, almost all value that the page receives on your corporate blog will go to the website of your employees.

The consequence of the rel=canonical is that your corporate page will not rank (for any and I believe all keywords) in the SERP's.

Link wheels are 2010.

Stop using them.

Start adding real value to the web.

Google isn't stupid. It will see what you are doing, especially if you are making such a basic link wheel. It will denote the link wheel links and your work will be worthless.

Sorry I can't give you more "solid" advice on your link wheel.

If you simply want rankings: make guest posts on other blogs. As diverse as possible. Don't link with too much exact match keywords.

But make sure you have content on the websites you link to. If you have a very thin site with a lot of backlinks won't help your rankings. You need a site of "substance" to guest post to.

Keyword tool = crap.

1. Did you look at the traffic for phrase match keywords? Or broad match?

2. Second thing you have to consider: the data Google uses in the keyword tool is also from search partners. For instance, in the Netherlands (where I live) google also adds keyword volume from a craigslist type of site. So me searching on the site for daytona insurance will add "a tick" in the keyword tool as well, even though google's results page wasn't shown for that search.

3. Did I mention that the keyword tool is crap? (With instant search on) Start typing daytona i... and see what starts apearing. Than compare the keywords that appear before insurance to the data you got for daytona insurance. See if that makes any sense.

No. Search engines look at the subdomains as two different sites. One letter difference, or one hundred won't make a difference.

The one with the 2 code snippets is the one you needl! You just have to realize: what is accessed more often: the www version of a page or the / version of your pages? This speeds up apache a bit if the one that is accessed most is on top of the other.

Might be a good idea for you to read some articles on wordpress.org about this.

You can find the wp-config.php file in the root folder of your domain. Where all the wordpress files are located and where all the folders are located like /themes /plugins. That's the root.

Making a .htaccess file isn't hard. It's just a txtfile which has been saved as a .htaccess file without an extension.

Just add the following code, where example.com is your domain

Because 95% of the content is equal. 3 links and 20 words are different. The rest, all the links, menu, etc. is the same.

I'd try adding a bit more uniqe text to each page. Tell search engines and users a bit more what they can find on those pages.

And to add: look in your analytics how your pages are being found now. Are they being found more on part number than on anything else? And is your title composed of anything else besides the part number?

What would be the most user friendly way to compose your titles? Fly wheel black 6 inch or 113-24322-423? In car land, garages usually find parts on numbers, not on names The question is: are you marketing to consumers who don't know part numbers, or businesses who do?

If there isn't a lot of competitiveness, there may be no need to build links? A comprehensive guide/article might already do the trick? Have you tried adding the articles to the site already? Targetting the keywords on the articles' pages in stead of the home page? You might already rank?

So you analyzed the 5 competitors and they don't have any resource sections on their site? Why not try the rest of the web with the query: "the keyword you are building links for" allintitle:resources or allintitle:list or allintitle:blog or something similar?

That would be my algorithm for this situation. I don't see any reason why SE's would "punish" you for somethng that could be a mistake. If you rel canonical to a url that is in no way associated to where the tag is placed, I would use the same algorithm.

If the the tag is pointing to a copy of the page somehwere else on that domain I would say: give a minimum link juice leak. If the url is pointing to a different root domain, I would add a little bit more leaking to the algorithm...

No mentions in social media? Facebook, Twitter? Typing link:www.domain.com/pr3page in google might not give you a full overview. Neither will OSE and neither will all tools combined. So you might have missed some links. Check you analytics to see if any visiters entered your site via that page and via a referral.

Google sometimes changes Titles of pages if they seem fit. For instance, this change in the title can happen if your url is listed on lets say DMOZ, and the title on that site says "The Blog" something...

So check out DMOZ and similar "trusted" directory like yahoo directory.

What's high quality and what would you get for 6k a month? If you get 5 quality links for that, that would be good. Get my point? If you get 5 links in lets say the Guardian, the NY Times, etc. You'd be jumping up and down. If you get 300 links a month for those 6k, than chances are they aren't really of high quality.

It takes time and effort to make something linkable. Do real research, write a decent post, or make a decent linkable piece of video, etc.

I can get you a thousands links a month, good quality (mark my Chinese accent) for only 400 dollars a month!

Ask them for examples and call the companies they do link building for and ask them what their thoughts are on the link builders.

Link building is patching up something that is broken. Make everything on your site with one thing in mind: why and when would this page I'm making now deserve to rank number one? People will than link to it because they really like your content, not because they get paid to post a blog about your site.

If you only wanted to redirect all the url's in a certain subdirectory to the new site (not 1-on1), your redirect would look something like this:

RedirectMatch 301 ^/subdirectory/$ http://www.websiteB.com/

But... I dont think you want to do that (Or should do that...) I think you should want to redirect all pages in the subdirectory to their corresponding url on websiteB.

What I mean by that is: you should redirect all your pages 1-on1, like this:

Redirect: www.websiteA.com/subdirectory/url1.html to its equivalent on website B's url: www.websiteB.com/url1.html

If you want to do that, you can. But the url's have to be the same. You can do something like:

RedirectMatch 301 /subdirectory/(.*) http://www.websiteB.com/$1

If the url's change, than you have to do more manual work. You should always try to redirect as many pages 1on1 as you can. Especially the ones that receive external links. The new pages will be almost as "juicy" as the old pages, because the 301 redirect passes the linkjuice along. (not all of it though, but like 90% - 99%)

Delete it from the server. You could bother to redirect if you can automate the process. Otherwise don't even bother because nobody would have linked to those pages.

Especially with Panda, you really want all your pages to be filled with unique content. Not with duplicate content.

You can't solve duplicate content issues with a sitemap. That only tells search engines what content you have, that you want search engines to find for sure. Search engines also just browse your site to find content that isn't in your sitemap.

So on monday they go to /shoes/brown/brand/supershoes.html and on tuesday they could follow a different path /brand/shoes/brown/supershoes.html which will bring them to the same content on a different url.

The only way to counter this is by the use of the rel=canonical. Or, use a noindex on the dupe's.

Putting the non-vanity url in the sitemap will add another url in the index. The non vanity, the vanity, the dupe's. So you'll be adding more junk to the system.

I wouldn't worry too much on the duplicate content issue. Yes it's a pain in the ass, yes it should be easy to solve. But the only thing which really happens right now, is that Google might not display your preferred url in the SERP's right now. As long as you're not jacking content from another site and posting it on your own site, you're in the clear. Oh and yes people might link to the "wrong" url.

If you can't solve it with the rel or the noindex in the header within a reasonable time. Move on to other stuff! Handle with this issue once you change to another CMS and do a proper redirection effort.
