Same day indexing... some tips for a non blog site
So far my best method for same day indexing is having a history of posting daily and doing it consistently. In my case, I was getting indexed like you were. After awhile, my indexing rate picked up. I think this is one of those SEO issues where the answer is keep at it and hope they notice.

Updating Titles - How long do you wait for Google to pick it up... any tips?
Hold on & wait. It sounds like the pages you're waiting on recache for are deeper pages within the site (product pages) so it's likely that they are visited less regularly by Google. You can always check the cache date with a 'cache:http://pageurl' search to check when Google last visited & cached the page. Hope that helps. Thanks, Greg

Getting Google to index MORE per day than it does, not with greater frequency nec.
Hi Jamie OK, recently updated the sitemap and linked up all the pages we completed within yesterday (about 16 original content bits). I am HOPING they all go up together, 2 or 3 pages a day is killer. Thanks

Using the right Schema.org - & is there a penalty in using the wrong one?
If we get it wrong, is there a penalty? Or this just simply up to us?
Simply google will not use the rich snippets, don't think it will get penalised. You can test here: http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets If you works there it should work in the serps. We finally got our schema done a few weeks ago, and with in a few days google was using them on our more popular pages. I don't think schema/rich snippets, effects you rankings, just makes your link more attractive/clickable for the user.

Has anyone had success with product page rel=author? Can I protect the content but dump the face on the SERPS?
I think the company logo or even a picture of the product could improve click through but this would be going against google rules as they ask for a head shot. I agree that you may be better of with http://schema.org. But it woulkd be great if you could find a way to protwct your unique contwnt with rel=author and not lose ctr.

Any reason not to use rel=author?
I don't know if you should back off on it. I found this post on google webmaster tools about it and it says for it to work you have to have a valid google+ acct... ? http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1408986 But I do know that in one of the latest ProWebinars Rhea Drysdale talked about how some authors are taking advantage of the rel=author tag to help their rankings and she flashed a few success stories up too. http://www.seomoz.org/webinars/online-reputation-management-branding-for-serp-domination About 30minutes in she talks about some of the strategies and I think rel=author tags was one.

Outranking the big boys, how to protect position?
Hi Sean No, absolutely no black hat whatsoever, but as an affiliate perhaps Google wouldn't want us to outrank the original supplier of the rates? And in answer to your second comment, we don't use the information from a competitor at all, what we do, is use the rates provided from the publisher (so for example, we don't use content from Delta airlines but we have their rates for flights). However, you are right in that a publisher can pull the plug on affiliate for just marketing better than them. Annoying though, we put a lot of time and effort into our rankings to sell their products... for them to pull the plug for doing it too well.

Affiliate Site with Unique Content - How to play it safe?
Hi kane Thanks a lot for your response In the long run, it may not be the only way to make money, but in order to contract the product, I gotta get the hits running through the site... bit of a viscious circle. I was a bit worried the rank will fall but I think you're right, with an affiliate site theres only so much you can do, as long as you follow best practice. Ive been worried about it also for bounce rate stats but having watched rands whiteboard friday, seems its not something I need to worry about YET... Thanks Kane
