How important is exact keyword match in content for SEO in 2018?
Personally, I include the main keyword within the Title Tag and the H1 tag. I've also noticed ranking increases or decreases whenever I remove my target keyword from the title tag too so as a rule of thumb I include my core keyword in the title and H1 tag. I also work it into the main body content of the page I'm working on. If the page is relevant and on topic then it shouldn't be difficult to work your target keyword into your body content in a natural way. But the important thing to remember is to write in a way that is natural for the end user. I hope that helps some!

How do I easily no-follow my affiliate links?
You can make the whole page nofollow by dropping this in your header: <code><metaname="robots"content="nofollow"></metaname="robots"content="nofollow"></code>

Can affiliate links benefit or hurt my seo?
I did a bit of Affiliate marketing for Crakrevenue a few months back White, and one thing I advise that affiliates aren't going to tell you proactively is to add rel="nofollow" on your affiliate link. My adult affiliate site was very easy to drive substantial traffic hitting the right hot spots, and I ranked it pretty quick. In short order, many of the affiliates I was advertising for had less authority than me. So to avoid passing all that hard work to get authority to someone who was merely paying me for traffic, adding the nofollow tag was a quick fix. You definitely WILL NOT get a benefit in SEO from an affiliate, that would just be to easy!

How to write an optimal h1?
My pleasure! Glad you found it useful IMO the difference between them boils down to where their content appears. Title tags appear in the SERP's (search results) and in a browsers title bar while an H1 appears in the body of your webpage. That difference impacts how search engines and page visitors will analyze your page. That being said, search engines give more weight to Title Tags than Page Headers. Both should provide details about the overall message of your page, right, so the best way to optimize your Title Tags and Headers is to write for your audience. Of course follow best practices when creating each. Moz made this tool that helps with the Title (character/pixel) length. The page also offers other great info on titles as well. Hope that helps better answer your original question! If not please let me know how I can help further. Cheers!!

Does link have any value?
How did you discover that you received this link? If it was through some kind of alert or a tool, a link to the source page should be available to you as well. Additionally, you can try the site search controller in google to see if the link has indexed. site:sourcedomain.com targetlinkhere If Google is indexing it, then you are getting some value from it. How much? Links are valuable in a bunch of ways, the two top of mind for me: relevant click through traffic and/or link juice. Depending on the type of page the link is coming from, it's common for sites to have a rel=nofollow meaning it's not passing link juice, however it doesn't diminish click through traffic. All of which supports contextual links that are well placed and from sites related to yours. Hope that helps and feel free to provide a bit more information for further support. Cheers, Brent

Is the meta title written only for google (try to stuff in as many keywords as possible) or is there a user experience aspect as well?
Thanks for all of your responses. I understand that the title shouldn't look spammy and needs to be relevant to the user. My question is, for example if I am writing the title for a women's scrub category page should the title be "Medical Scrubs For Women:Nursing Uniforms At Low Prices l Name of company" or should I take out the "at low prices" and put in some more keywords which may make it sound more like listing keywords? My thought was that if I have the extra space why not put in some text that will be enticing to the user to make them click. Please let me know your thoughts.

Hi, Does having orphan pages on my site negatively affect my seo? Thank you.
If by orphaned you mean that the pages are inaccessible from other parts of the website and Google is unable to see them, then technically no, it's not impacting your rankings. Or it could be technically yes, depending on how you look at it. If Google can't see the pages, hasn't indexed the pages, then it doesn't factor those pages into its algorithm. If those pages contain valuable content that users would like to see, then they should be accessible, and making them accessible to users and to Google can improve your rankings. I would ask why they're orphaned first before making changes though. If they're landing pages meant only to track SEM campaigns, or test pages to try new code, etc. it makes sense to keep those pages orphaned. Context is key. Don't open pandora's box by accident! But keeping them orphaned isn't actually impacting your rankings, because it's as though it doesn't exist to Google. So proceed cautiously, and may the odds be ever in your favor.

What is the best tactic to fix thousands of product descriptions on an eCommerce site?
I would suggest prioritising the products and creating unique descriptions for the most important ones first. Outsourcing them ... I would not generally say that's a bad idea as long as you ensure the work produced will be of high quality, meaning don't outsource them to India or something but maybe if the budget allows you could find a freelancer to help with the workload. We have this issue too and some products from a previous mass upload still don't have good descriptions, but when it is a small update, we create them as required.

Why is comment moderation blocking all my comments? There are no links in them.
Hi there, SEOhanna, thanks for bringing this up! I'm so sorry you've mistakenly gotten caught up in moderation, that's really frustrating. We've been working to lessen the amount of comment spam on the blog, and added a few new filters to the moderation system. While most of the time those filters have been doing a great job of catching spammy comments (I've deleted about 10 posts inviting me to join the Illuminati in the last day alone!), we've noticed that a few spammy comments still slip through, and a few awesome comments get caught in the net. Because I'm the point person to manually go through and approve or deny comments, I can attest to the fact that your insights are just the kind I love to see on the Moz blog! I'll see if we can't find a way to lower the defenses a bit while still keeping the spam away, and in the meantime, please reach out if you run into anything else that's frustrating -- we're here to help!

Category URL Pagination where URLs don't change between pages
Thank you, Oleg, for your response, and thanks, Matt, for jumping in. The response was definitely very informative, but I'm still on the fence about this issue because, while Oleg confirmed what I had thought, that #2 would be the better choice, I now want to ensure that all the products on pages past page 1 will be crawlable by search engines. Any scenarios that you can think of in which search engines would not be able to read subsequent pages? Assuming that this is done using Ajax should we be okay? (Please bear with me, my specialty is link building and content, not the technical stuff

Verify all versions of site in Bing Webmaster Tools
We had the exact same issue! I had the developer fix the 302 redirect that I found, but I am sure there are more errors in the redirects, so we are in the process of getting a full technical audit done so that we can fix any other errors. After you fixed the 302 redirects, how long did it take for the search engines to correctly index your site? Was there anything that you did that helped speed up the process?
