Moving a site to a new address without getting banned
For performance and security reasons, I would stay away from using .htaccess files unless you don't have other options. If you can be sure that the pages on the new domain will be the same, and you won't be changing them anytime soon, it should be as simple as doing the 301 in Webmaster Tools. It depends somewhat on how complex your search parameters are for your products, but (at least in theory) that should do it. I attached a video that is related... not a direct answer, but does have useful info on the subject. QyQs3tz7ZKo

Getting top ranking - ongoing thread - and sharing idea
Where to begin for eComerce... Here a re a couple of issues I often see in eCommerce sites: Well written original content - this is an area where eCommerce sites often fall short, especially those that have been thrown together quickly or have multiple versions with keyword rich domains. I often get requests for SEO help from stores that have no real titles and descriptions for their products - just item numbers. Or they just use the descriptions from the manufacturer without editing them. Keep in mind that unless you are the only site selling those items, someone else already has those descriptions on their site so you might have duplicate content issues. And make the descriptions as complete as possible. If you are selling men's pants, say more than just "Men's pants". Technically correct code - seems like most eCommerce platforms are a total mess when it comes to code. Totally xhtml valid code can be difficult to achieve but at least try to get close. Make sure everything works! Ecommerce site owners and web masters often don't consider file size of product photos - make them big enough to look good, but be sure not to use them fresh off the camera as they will often be too large and slow down the site's loading time. Scale them down in PhotoShop or another photo editor, and use some compression Google Merchant - Assuming that you've got the basics of a quality site and on page SEO taken care of, be sure to set up a Google Merchant/Base feed and provide all the information Google merchant asks for.

Meta title updates?
Why update the main page's meta title monthly? Is it to highlight special offers? To stand out from the crowd? To gather and improve CTR metrics? Regular visitors will find your meta title familiar and wont need it to change often. New visitors wont know what the old title was anyway. Unless you can really track the success of meta description changes on a monthly basis I suggest you update it less frequently and concentrate on optimising other content.

How often should we update our site blog
Keep up the 4-times-per-week updates as long as you can continue to make the posts interesting and informative. Be sure to tweet, bookmark and otherwise promote your blog posts - over time your shop will be found for all sorts of long tail search terms which should help to increase revenues. To make your blogging activities easier I suggest you plan a few regular themes for posts - i.e. if you can write monthly posts on 4 regular topics that works out to 1 per week so you only have to think of 3 creative posts per week instead of 4. By regular posts I mean things that keep the same theme each month and which are easy to write - e.g. things like some interesting statistics about the shop, monthly summary of your products in the news, etc.
