Hi Lukas,

This is a very broad question, one to which there is no simple answer. You need to ask yourself "what kind of a market would want my services?" and search for bloggers within that market that have a decent DA (although not an accurate measurement currently due to Moz updating it, should have it's accuracy returned in November).

Use a tool like Buzzstream to collect these blog sites and let the software dig for the contact info. From there reach out to the individual bloggers and see what they would like to write about your services. I would steer away from straight up offer money, but they might something in return, maybe a social push or some advice about the service you offer.

I haven't noticed any change as well, although for the last update it took a few days for me to see a change in the tools. Usually, a Moz staffer will post a post about the change and pin it. Maybe we see that later today.

I'm going to not stress it at this point and check back on Monday.

Moz is currently indexing and had to cancel last months crawl, so the 1.5 month delay is to be expected. You can monitor the progress at https://moz.com/products/api/updates and it looks like they should be releasing the results tomorrow. Check back at the end of the week and you should see your metrics.

Very odd issue, Moz Local in the UK is fairly new and issues are bound to arise. This should be brought to the attention of the Moz Local support team, they have been very quick (within a day mostly) in responded for every issue I have had with my UK clients.

To contact them navigate to your profile page, and click the question mark in the bottom right-hand corner.

I believe you are doing this to deal with individual property pages that no longer exist after they have sold. A fear to consider with using the 410 to deal with these pages is that f this property ever comes back on the market you have permanently marked this URL as gone and might have issue getting a URL with the same structure back in the index.

I have a similar issue with a client who offers travel deals with a specific time frame and the way we have handled it is we have a custom 404 handler, that when visiting a travel deal that longer exists before the 404 page returns the http status of 404 it 301 redirects the user to the man travel deal page. The reason we took this approach was so any legacy backlinks to travel deals will still give the user a list of deals that are relevant to why they followed the link in the past. We can also bring back annual specials without having to make changes to the .htaccess. This approach helped us maintain existing Authority from previous backlinks, significantly reduced 404's (which in turn let us focus on the more specific real errors)

BTW, there is no reason why you can't have a search page on a 404 page. In fact I would recommend it.

Odd, did your meta description always have the rating in it? or was this a new addition after you lost the rating microdata in the search results? If this is old, it might explain why the microdata is not displaying.

If you want an image to rank high for a certain keyword, we would suggest updating the "alt" with logical keywords. Don't stuff it with keywords, think of it as what you would like to show if the image wasn't available. Think of it as images for people who can't see, if you were going to describe the image what would you say.

The issue seems to be that because you offer the individual reviews in the schema, the crawler sees the most recent review in the Search Results. I would suggest removing the schema markup on the individual reviews but keep it on the aggregated rating content.

As an example if you look at http://www.microdatagenerator.com/aggregate-rating-schema-generator/ in Google schema testing tool it only has an aggregated review data and that is the only thing to show up in a search for the page, try a site search site:www.microdatagenerator.com/aggregate-rating-schema-generator/ in google.

I have a client address (1-8 Russel Square) but Moz local picks it up as either 18 (when comparing duplicates) or drops the number altogether (in the actual listing info in Moz Local). How can I get this corrected?

My listing for Kenwood Hall was paused and after waiting almost a week I'm not sure how to get it unpaused. The verified Google My business profile is at https://plus.google.com/106845835431357734064/about and the facebook listing is at https://www.facebook.com/Kenwood-Hall-390682141103826/timeline/. Any idea what I can do to make it active again?

The mozscape crawl didn't work as intended and the data is incomplete from the last crawl, (see: https://moz.com/community/q/september-s-mozscape-update-broke-we-re-building-a-new-index) so you might not see these updated links until the next scheduled crawl (early October) Are you see the new links in Google Webmaster Tools (AKA search console)?

I wouldn't focus on seeing the backlinks in Moz and focus more on continuing to build more links. As the saying goes "a watched kettle never boils" set a reminder to check back in early October to see if your links are showing up, but in the meantime continue to focus on building more links.

I'm going to assume that you have the Google My Business profiles all claimed and verified. If not that is your first step.

If so, for the third location that has the same address add the suite or office number to address line 2, this will help separate the listings from the others that share the same address. Try that and give it 48 hours to propagate on google maps and try your search again. Check out https://support.google.com/business/answer/2853879?hl=en for more details on the guidelines.

I must second Dirk's suggestion of screaming frog, great tool and I use it daily, a license is well worth the cost. Although spider crawl of the site will only point out 404's that have are links from an existing page, so if the hosting company cleaned up the not all of these 404's will surface.

One approach I would suggest is run the current 1000 404's in GWT through Screaming frog as a manually added list, (do it in 2 batches if you have the free version), start a spreadsheet of the resulting 404's and start working through that list. Once you have the 404's mark those as fixed as GWT tools set a reminder to check back in a few days and after a few days export the new list of 1000 404's and run these through screaming frog adding the resulting list to your spreadsheet. Keep doing this until you get the 404's errors in GWT down a manageable level.

Have you updated the dev sites robots.txt to disallow everything? It is up to the bot to listen, but that combined with removing all of the dev URLs from Google Webmaster tools should do the trick.

If these 301's are old, then any indexing robot has already compensated for them and updated their index with the right URL. What you have to worry about is backlinks from other sites, this should surface GWT (Google Webmaster Tools or Search Console these days).

What I would be more concerned about is 301 redirecting the current URL structure to the new one as that is what most likely is being indexed currently. If I were you I would make a backup the old redirects (just in case), and start clean with a new list of redirects. To create this new list of redirects I would crawl the current site, take that list of URL's determine if any of that old content is going to exist on a new URL when launching the new site, set up the new redirects. Once launched I would monitor the new site in GWT over the next few weeks/months to see what surfaces and redirect any 404's that surface

I do agree with Dr. Pete, anything done is merely a suggestion, I like to think of it as farming, you create the most ideal situation for your organic search results to grow but unexpected influences will cause you to change your approach and some of these unexpected influences will be beyond your control.

One thing I would mention that is a bit of a red flag for me is that your structured data offers no additional organizational info on the home page. So when the google bot crawls the home page they see you are trying to push the Name, Url and the social accounts, this could be considered a bit scammy. I would suggest expanding on the content and add a description, mailing address, etc anything to make it your info more robust. In addition explore the adding the schema for https://schema.org/SoftwareApplication since you folks seem to be a software application company.

The Knowledge Graph info is pulled from multiple avenues, if these suggestions for Schema changes don't start producing better results, start looking outside of the Schema, for an example submit a request for a Wikipedia entry to be written (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requested_articles/Business_and_economics/Companies)
