That was another question I had. It's my site, but I would have to leave that content behind, because if I left, they would either give the site to someone else, or use that content for themselves and maybe steal my rankings (I don't know if they know how to do that but I am going to assume they will)

I wouldn't even be contributing to this site if the page and domain authority weren't as good as they are.  Any thoughts on that?

I have a company website that I have access to and it's bcannon.remax-mississippi.com. It allows you to choose a domain and have it 301 redirected so I changed it to Oxfordmissrealestate.com. I noticed that the page and domain authority for bcannon.remax-mississippi.com was pretty high so I took off the Oxfordmissrealestate.com domain and just left it as this subdomain.

My question is, would you leave it how it is as the subdomain or change it?  Thanks!

I looked at the Penguin/Panda Tool you sent me and it looked like the last panda update nailed me. There were three or four in the past year that didn't do anything to my site, but this one did and I haven't done ANYTHING to the site. So would it be safe to assume the factored in inactive sites into the algorithm? It would make sense to do that, I guess, but the pages that are currently on there and static, shouldn't be penalized I wouldn't think. But I seem to be pretty wrong!

Thank you for those super helpful suggestions. I was also thinking about archive.org but I have been out of the SEO game for a couple years and didn't know if that still even existed!  I will definitely check that blog post out and install Google webmaster tools for this site. Yes the content isn't very good with what I have.  I will have to just start working hard at it and see if I can't revive this bad boy!

Also, I'm sure you have been told this enough, but you're the man!!! Thanks again for these suggestions and tips.

DC, thanks for the response. I have been doing SEO a while and been out of the game for a year or so, and of course content is king. Not only that, but quality content, moreover.  As you know, having a city state domain is great but a HUGE undertaking. there is a college here so I can get some journalism folks to help out with it, etc.  I just wanted to make sure that it's not that I was being penalized for anything other than lack of content creation ie. bad links, etc.  I don't think it is, since I haven't done any sketchy link building practices, but just wanted some folks opinions to make sure my suspicions are probably correct.

I like it Matt!  When you say seperate everything I know you mean, the domain owner is different, the hosting account is different. What else would you do? Not put it in analytics, but what is your or the communities takes on the fact that maybe google recognizes these coming from same IP address etc? Anything I am missing?

I need someone that can help me with my SEO. I am too busy to do it and the last person that did it, I really feel didn't do a good job.  Please message me (If that is possible). I am looking for on-page, probably disavowing a good bit of links, and anything else that someone can point me in the right direction to do. I'm having some pretty major issues with my guy right now and I just feel like my rankings are falling off of the map because of it.  Thanks!

Can anyone help regarding looking for an SEO

Not to sabotage the thread but I have a site that gets pretty good traffic and I I have hired an SEO who has been using a lot of directory linking and he swears it works and I feel like it doesn't. I have been dabbling with seo for about 6 years so I know a pretty good amount and know that many of these directory links are not worth having. Just checking some of the anchor texts, I have noticed some don't even have my respective keywords spelled correctly. The site has too many visitors to just start with a new slate. Any suggestions? Lastly, what does disavow mean?  Is there a way to go on google and do that?
