I would write as much unique content as possible, even if there are feature sets that are the same, explain how they are applied to each different product.

RE: Huge increase in rank ..
In the US your website is not showing up as #1. You may have to log out of your google accounts and clear your history. I sometimes ask my friends to google my company to see their results because they never search my keywords. Good luck!

RE: Use of + in url good or bad?
Use "-" instead of "+"
Here is an article I always have bookmarked for URL Structure, even though it is from 2006, it is a good source of info from Rand.

RE: Backlink: External blog Vs. Internal blog. Which is the best?
I would stick to one internal blog instead of focusing on two. I have tried it before and writing blogs and getting links is super time consuming for even one site. I would put my best effort on one site and give it a 100% effort.

RE: How long till you rank for your domain name?
Well stocktips.com doesn't seem to be a valid site, so there is no content to crawl.
If you're speaking in generalities (based on an exact match domain example), then if you do all your on page optimization, have decent content, and start getting links, you should start seeing your site in top SERPs in a few months. If you do the work.
I had a client with an exact match, good on-page, a few natural external links and a couple blog articles and they were on the first page of the SERP after about 3 months.
Bottom line is that no one can tell you how long it will take, because it depends on the competitiveness of the term, if someone is doing SEO better than you, then they will out-rank you.

RE: Effect over time of a link.
Well the main article should be on its own page with its own value, so that could gain some steam if it is linked to or picked up by other blogs as reference.
I think in the end it depends on how good the content is, if its good content then it should stay relevant and help your website.

RE: When is it worth re-structuring your site?
I have a similar problem with a client of mine.
While I feel on paper, their on-site SEO is below par. They are consistently ranking #1 and #2 for their keywords. The one thing I have done was come up with a plan and structured it out in excel and word, just in case a large problem occurs.
The best solution would be to write out your proposed changes, and start small. If you start small and structure your plan in a timeline, you can re-structure the whole site over a long period of time without seeing any negative effects initially.

RE: How do I redirect index.html to the root / ?
Pascal,
chrwald is referring to a 301 redirect, which is safe for seo and should not result in an infinite loop. I've done this myself to redirect the .index.html to the root so that duplicate content would not appear. -
RE: Re-optimizing onsite SEO, can it hurt?
Agreed, do not make a big drastic change, be patient and you will be rewarded.

RE: OSE - why are some external links not showing up?
Sometimes OSE cannot pick up all the links like Shelly mention. To double check to see if google has picked up on your links. I usually set a google alert in my email for the exact term I was targeting. You will most likely see your PRWEB link when google does their crawl but pick up some helpful links and news what your competitors are doing at the same time.

RE: What's a good place for a copywriter to start researching the more technical aspects of SEO?
I found a pretty basic SEO book called SEO secrets by Danny Dover. Gives you basic ideas and terminology. Sometimes it is nice to read a book. Old school but I still like reading my newspaper that has been printed.

RE: Robots.txt
/fred-review/ would be fine, as long as they are a separate directory you should have no problems.
-
RE: Meta Description Template
You could use an SEO plugin so that the meta description is the same formula (ex: "category" | "blog post" etc...), several are available for WordPress.

RE: Link Directories - Good or bad?
I believe the link directories are fine within reason. Don't rely only on link directories but submitting to them I have found did any harm. I think if you have a good mix of link directories and natural links you will be fine. I would avoid low page rank directories.

RE: Does the Facebook Share button still exist?
By using the open graph protocol you can control how the like/share/recommend appears on a Facebook Wall.
-
RE: URL Structure "-" vs "/"? Are there any advantages to one over the other?
Well your first example would be referencing 2 separate directories, where the second example is one directory.
Here's a quick snippet of an article from Rand. http://www.seomoz.org/blog/11-best-practices-for-urls
These last examples have done nearly everything right:
- _http://www.discoverohio.com/visitors/map.asp_
Brilliant - it's short, descriptive, static and obvious. - _http://web.mit.edu/is/usability/usability-guidelines.html_
Despite the subdomain, everything else is near perfect. - _http://www.whitehouse.gov/history/presidents/jk35.html_
I'm letting the White House off the hook for not using "john-kennedy" as the page title, because they've wisely also provided his number (the US' 35th President).

RE: Another tool like opensitexplorer?
I would recommend majestic seo. It cost a few bucks but it catches missing links from OSE. Both are great tools.

RE: Optimal redirect configuration from a misspelled domain that we own.
You can see what kind of re-direct you have set up by looking at the .htacess file.
A 301 redirect from t-chek.com to thchek.com would be your best bet, it will pass through the link juice from links pointing to t-chek.com
You would need to edit the htaccess file for t-chek.com

RE: Is duplicate content in social media ok?
I think it is very important to keep the post unique across your social media. I follow a lot of companies and the last thing I would like to read is the same post in your blog and your facebook wall. For a consumer I enjoy reading unique content.
For seo purposes that unique content across social media is up for debate.

RE: Increasing Form Conversions
I agree long forms are tough for people but I see yours is pretty short. I think I saw two locations on your home page for two areas to fill out the form.
I think you might want to write Free Contact Form and skip asking for the phone number. I think you make it not a requirement anyway. The second location for your form leads you to another page with locations but your contact form is all the way to the bottom. Really tough to find.
