RE: Site has taken a fall
It it very unlikely that one link would get your site penalised. Imagine how easy it would be to get your competition penalised by simply linking to them from a spammy site.

RE: Different pages with same keyword phrase.
They will be competing with each other.

RE: Affects of vanity domains?
I guess it depends how well know he is. You can use Keyword Tool to check how popular he is vs the mentioned keyword. Is he well known just among other physicians or a broader audience of potential customers? How likely is your potential customer to search for his name?

RE: Viral content ideas for a local makeup artist.
Great stuff guys, many thanks. I love the charity idea. The cakes are good too but we could end up with some very angry young ladies
I guess we could use models. -

RE: On Page Optimization for Product Pages
Robert is absolutely right, duplicate content is a common problem for many e-commerce sites. This is because of the sheer numbers of products involved. Writing unique descriptions for hundreds and sometimes even thousands, often very similar, products is time consuming but creating that unique descriptions for all your product is definitely worthwhile and will help you in the long run. Another common mistake is copying product descriptions from other sites.

RE: Seomoz on-page analysis, how strict to be
Hi Bob
I think it is always important to have your on-page optimisation spot on. I'm pretty sure your competition will also do their homework. Just remember that optimisation doesn't end on-page there are of-site factors as well.

RE: Website tables
Hi Sergio
Page titles are a very important ranking factor and changing them will affect your ranking. You say that the new keyword you are trying to rank for is Office Cleaning London, do you have inbound links containing that anchor? I don't know what was the keyword you were ranking for the past 2 years but I assume you had a fair share of backlinks with anchor containing that keyword. There is more to consider, is the new keyword bringing you more or less traffic, is it converting better?

RE: On Page Analysis and Grading
the report gives you grade for one keyword only, so if you run one report for say "dry erase board " and then a 2nd report for "monogrammed dry erase board" the results would be different.

RE: How can you manually diagnose the canonical problem
Keep in mind that rel=canonical is more of a suggestion than a command.

RE: Facebook Like Quick Question
I prefer "shares" rather than "likes" as they appear in News Feed. You should also keep in mind that if clocking on your FB box takes people to FB they might stay there and I guess you would rather have them browsing your site.
As for the difference in likes, there are two types of "like" boxes you can have one to "like" your website and one to "like" your FB Page.

RE: Understanding page and subdomain metrics in OSE
Hi meterdei an example of a subdomain would be blog.mydomain.com
The OSE gives you the option to check all links pointing to a specific page, all links pointing to a subdomain and all links pointing to root domain.
