Rogerbot crawls my site and causes error as it uses urls that don't exist
The first thing I would do is download the crawl report as an excel sheet. You can do this from your crawl report page. From there, sort by the 404 error column, bringing "True" to the top. The top of the list is now the broken URL's. One of the very last columns on the right is the "referrer" column. This will show you the page where Roger is getting the bad link from. Make Sense?

Can I rely on just robots.txt
You can do the inbound link check right here using SEOMoz's Open Site Explorer tool to check for links to the dev site, whether it's in a subdomain, subfolder or a separate site. Good luck! Paul

Home link tags slash or full domain name
I would make it absolute. You can code it to dynamically insert the base URL, then if it's on dev it will populate the dev URL, when it goes live it populates the production base URL.

ECommerce product listed in multiple places, best SEO practice?
So that would mean there would be no duplicate for the product and only similar for the categories. For instance in a supermarket store candles might form part of the household category, home decor category, kitchenware category and valentines category but they each reference the same un-duplicated page www.shop.com/products/white-candles.html You have to make the call as to whether your category content is too similar to one another and if so take action such as writing 100-200 words Prior to or after the product listings.

Too Many On-Page Links - caused by a drop down menu
Google's guidelines and seomoz toolbar indicate that anything over 100 links is to much. But if you check out very well known sites , there internal linking structure is over 300 (take amazon for an example). That is 1 of over 200 factors for ranking. If its helpful for the user experience leave it , if its not get rid of it.

Domain name holding pages link back, good or bad?
Links from a holding page won't help. Drop the concept. Forget short-cuts. Invest in decent content. Push that content and reap the rewards
