Gooddata and Tableausoftware look interesting, thanks for sending those along. Essentially we are creating an online dashboard for clients to be able to access their data in quick and aesthetically please way. I will read more into those two and see if they would be able to handle what we are looking for for one of our new applications we are working on.

I actually like the visualizations in the Campaign manager for pro members, I like the clean design and the simplicity in the nofollow vs follow, and the URL's entered via search term graphs. Looking forward to seeing more data visualized in the future, pictures make people happy

I frequently find myself making charts with landing page data, product categories, etc... with excel and the basic charts in excel.

There are two things I am looking for in this question: Online and Offline, they can be paid or free, just looking for whatever is the best.

1. [Offline] Would love to see some suggestions on maybe web-apps or software that can allow you to create more visually appealing charts than the ones generated in excel.
2. [Online] I am also looking for some API's / Jquery / solutions that can create pretty awesome looking charts that could easily be implemented in a web-app dashboard.

Looking forward to seeing some of the things that are out there and your recommendations!

Hmm, perhaps this is what you are referencing? http://guides.seomoz.org/chapter-7-growing-popularity-and-links. It seems like they might have removed or condensed the old guides into the new format that I linked.

If you just recently updated the page title, it might take a little while for it to update in the search results - could this possibly be the case?

I think it really depends on your niche, clients and whether you are targeting consumers or businesses.

For businesses, or consumers that are in the 9-5 bracket mornings always seem to be the best across most audiences, its before people get busy, sidetracked, afternoon meetings, etc... we have some of our restaurant email marketing clients send out emails around 9:30-11AM to their subscriber lists to try and boost their lunch crowd.

I think if you were targeting consumers on maybe a shopping site, fun blog, music site or something in that regard that late afternoon evening might work better, but I honestly have little experience in that market.

In general, I believe it is best to have the blog on your domain as long as it is closely in-line with what your website is about or has to offer. mysite.com/blog

Also agree that generally someone might click on newer content if there are articles ranging from 2011 to say 2007.

The way I think the date would impact your article's visibility / clickthrough the most is if people use the tools on the left side of Google and search by date. I find myself using the search by date tool frequently generally selecting the past year or 2-3 months when I know an article was recently published.

Not too much experience with this, but I do know one group I was helping a few months ago was using http://www.hasoffers.com/ for their affiliate program and they really enjoyed the platform.

The links you acquire with tools like that might not be that useful in the long run.

A pretty cool tool Seomoz offers is the link assistant, http://www.seomoz.org/labs/link-finder/index.php, it is a labs tool but is pretty nice!

I also think that would be a super awesome feature of the campaign manager to display historical data, maybe last month's metrics compared to this month's. Even the ability to just show the PA, DA, Inbound #, etc as opposed to the actual links acquired would be pretty neat.

Hey Mozers!

We will be creating another brand pretty soon with some pretty cool interactive features and before we start development of the site I was wondering if there are any pros/cons to branding the site sans the www.

For example http://example123.com and http://www.example123.com. I would much prefer to brand it has http://example123.com but I just wanted to check first to see if that would have any negative SEO ramifications.

It seems that it might just be a preference as I looked at Facebook and Twitter and they both do it differently, same with Groupon and LivingSocial.

From personal experience email marketing is a pretty competitive area, one of my buddies at another company mentioned that insurance and payroll were pretty competitive as well.

That is a pretty large image file, I do not know how it would impact the SERPS.

If you are using photoshop and saving the background image as a Jpg, one thing I always try to do is lower the quality when saving for web to around 30-40 for really large images (can notice a difference but not too bad) or lower the quality to 51 if you want the image to remain pretty much the same.

Another thing that I like to do is use Smush.it (http://www.smushit.com/ysmush.it/) which is a free tool from Yahoo that will save you a little on filesize without changing the appearance of the image.
