I see the point, but what is weird is that all other bookmakers which are also competitive in Denmark rank fine. If we were beat by competition i would think the page would rank as 30 or 40. But it is not even in the top 50.

What is weird is that a site which links to the review is higher than the actual review. That should not be possible (since the site is not competitive on the keyword).

To answer your question about competition: The competition is not harder on "betsafe" than on "bet365" (here we are 6th).

For a search on "betsafe" on page 5 there are pages with PA 1 and DA 15-18, where our page has PA 11 and DA 31. So looking at those metrics our page should rank higher.

I have made som changes recently which have moved pretty much all of our reviews up the SERPs, putting a lot of them on page 1. But for "betsafe" the page has just "vanished like a fart in the wind" to put it like the warden

On our site we have a lot of bookmaker reviews, and we are ranking pretty good for most bookmaker names as keywords, however a single bookmaker seems to have been shunned by Google.

For a search "betsafe" in Denmark, this page does not appear among the top 50:

All of our other review pages rank in top 10-20 for the bookmaker name as keyword.

I do not Think that it would reduce the number of links. However it would improve the link juice passed by the links that ARE followed. It is my impression that Google does not punish you for a large menu (if it is not extreme). Can you give a link where i can see the menu? What you really need to do is decide if the dropdown is necessary? If the links are truly usable for your users they are likely to be good for Google. Try and use google analytics to see if users actually use the navigation?

You have two changes I think you need to do. As Woj Kwasi says, you have URLs with and without "www.".

I would most definately redirect the non-www traffic to www-URLs. Add the redirect in your .htaccess:

RewriteEngine On

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^thegorillafirm.com [NC]

RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.thegorillafirm.com/$1 [L,R=301]

Furthermore you need to set canonical links:

http://thegorillafirm.com/bikes/">

This should be set in the index.asp file header. In a similar way you should set this for:
http://thegorillafirm.com/surf/
http://thegorillafirm.com/snow/

This should help you remove the duplicate content warnings.

Can you post an example of a video here, I think that would help a lot to narrow down the search for a solution.

Do you have a website to which you want to drive traffic from these Youtube videos or are you looking toward getting as much trafic on your youtube videos as possible?

Actually, I don't use the subdomain. For some reason we have it on the server. Along with odds.betxpert.com. Again we do not use them.

What would be the best solution?

a) Redirect 301 from the sub to the main domain

b) Simply tell Google through the robots.txt that they are not to index the pages for the subdomains.

As it is now the sub adresses are competitors to the main pages? So I need to lose them?

What would happen if i simply remove the subdomains from the server such that google gets errors? That would be a problem right?

I've discovered that we have a lot of URLs indexed with for example:

http://test.betxpert.com/some-odd-url

This gives me duplicate content in the search engines. I have searched the web and i can not find a solution fore redirecting http://test.betxpert.com/some-odd-url to http://www.betxpert.com/some-odd-url. Can anyone help me what to write in the .htaccess file?

It is hard to say exactly how many are too much...it depends on the site. A large site with high authority can have more links than a small site with low authority.

Thanks for the replies in this thread. I've reduced the homepage to about 300-350 links now. That should give me some affect one should think.

I have just checked GWT, and we had over 7000 pages with the ref string.

So I have changed the setting for this query string, telling Google that it does not affect the content of the page. That should be it right? From now on the Google should regard http://www.betxpert.com?ref=XXX as http://www.betxpert.com right?

As far as I can see in GWT, I have pages with the "?ref=XXX" which gives me pages with the same meta descriptions and titles.

So you are saying that using canonical this would help it?

Disallow: /catalog/product_compare/

That should leave out all pages starting with:

However, I believe the best approach will be to change the meta tag for robots for the page.

if the url query is dir=asc, order=price then robots="index, follow". If dir is not asc, and order is not price then robots="noindex, follow".

Could you perhaps post a URL which has product_compare in it?

You could alter your robots.txt file to disallow robots to index pages in

http//www.domain.com/product_compare/ by adding this line to your robots.txt file: Disallow: /product_compare/

Can you either set rel="nofollow" on the links on the page that changes the sorting, such that moz and google do not check these pages? Or you can set the robots="noindex, follow" on pages which are not the "standard" sort?

As far as I can see the PA for your page is 21, and your DA is 10.

The SEOmoz toolbar tells me that you do not have that many external pages linking to your site, which is a good way for increasing page rank (and also traffic). So that could be a suggestion. Put some effort into getting external pages to link to your site, perhaps having some link exchange with other relevant sites?

Also your page does not have any meta description. You should definately add this. And also, you should consider changing your page title to a more descriptive title.

"HomeEscapade Articles, Reviews and Opinions" should perhaps be more focused on the keywords you wish to be found on, and have the company name as the last word in the title. The most important keywords should be mentioned at the front of the string.

The homepage has no

tag, which is also recommendable. You can have a headline containing important words for the site.

You go to analytics, and go to "Content". There you find "In-Page Analysis". I just tried it today. Really cool

You can check for several types of users, and see how many of your links have been clicked by over 0%, 0,01% and so on. In this way you can locate the links which are not clicked at all.
