After getting some guidance from you guys here on this forum i have decided to go through my WMT backlinks and contact all the sites that I think are spammy and are linking back to me....and I will ask them to remove my links from their sites...
Can you guys please provide some guidance as to what I should say in the letter (also, anything i should definitely not say)....

How can i tell if a link is considered spam or not? I have personally submitted my site to a bunch of social bookmarking sites, I don't know if that's considered spam or not.....

I'm going through my backlinks through WMT and half of the sites have been deindexed or taken down, but the ones that remain scraped articles i wrote for article submission sites and added it to their sites... why would G penalize me for this... i have no idea who these people are.... for instance : camelcrochet.info <--- who are these people, how did they find me, and why are articles i wrote posted all over their site?

Thanks for the quick reply... I have never bought links on any sites, other then the "ads" I just asked about... Any idea how some of these spammy links got there? Also, where and how did you find these? Thanks again

If you look on the right hand column, you will see the top two images under the word sponsors are mine....
Am i being penalized for this? are these ads frowned upon by Google? I need guidance as my ranking for the words being used as that alt text have tanked, badly and i also received a letter from WMT about unnatural links.
If that site, and the ads (not links) i bought are fine with google, please advise what you think it may be... my site is : http://goo.gl/JgK1e

I have removed my ads from Armageddononline.org.... My SERPS are getting worse and worse though. Have any of you seen anything else in my backlink profile that you think i should attempt to clean up?
I am working on getting that blog put on my site (had to contact my developer) so that it is .com/blog...
All of the content on my site is unique, any other ideas? What is the difference between finding blog posts, reading them and commenting and building "real links"

Thank you... Are you certain that is why I got this error message from google? I always thought it was ok to buy ads on sites.... Also. I've had these ads on that site for a while, why the notice from google now?
Please advise if you think it has anything to do with the links i bought (NOT PAID LINKS, ADS) that i bought on this site. You'll notice there's two ads in the right hand column and webmaster tools shows over 400,000 links from this site ..... http://www.armageddononline.org/
please tell me if that could be causing the problem (i always thought you were allowed to buy ads, i didn't know that was considered a bad practice by google)

my site just received this warning on 3/18. I haven't seen any rankings drop or anything... i don't know why i got this as i really don't build links in a frowned upon way.
Anyone know if you get penalized for this, and if so, how long after you get the message does the penalty kick in, and what is the penalty....
Also, if i gave you guys my domain name do you think you'd be able to tell which links would cause this message?

Can you please provide an example of "secondary and longtail keywords" for my keyword (plastic bins)?

I agree, those are heavy hitters... however, the company at the top of the SERP is a 1 man operation that is about 1 year old. He spams all over the internet to get backlinks (check his backlinks, you'll see).... How has he managed to outrank all of the heavy hitters, as well as companies like mine that provide great experience and have been around for a long time and do not spam the internet?

i have been going back and forth between page 1 and 2 for this keyword and i was wondering if any of you could provide any guidance as to why i can't get on the top of page 1, and stay there...
My site has been around for a while, we believe we have a great user experience, all unique, fresh content, and the lowest prices...
I must be missing out on something major if I cannot get a steady page 1 ranking... Any thoughts?

Are you guys saying that i should have sites such as:

redirected (via a 301 redirect ) to my main site which is: http://goo.gl/JgK1e ?
If the answer is yes, should they be redirected to the home page (http://goo.gl/JgK1e) or to the specific pages they are about such as http://goo.gl/oiEeG & http://goo.gl/7nA9E
