Rel="canonical" of .html/ to .html
they probably made a mistake. .html is the filename, not a folder and therefor no trailing slash. I would ask them to clarify. As a matter of fact I would even strip off the .html extension.

Would you suggest submitting a website to a travel platform which gets backlinks from link farms?
Considering you can't get penalised by a backlink form a spammy site ("negative" SEO), I would submit the site to the travel platform if it does no cost much time/money. Reading your response to Gianluca, it looks like the backlinks are not so spammy so you should do it without fears.

Do search enginges prefer pages with mobile websites on the mobile phone?
Hello Petra, The "right" question to ask would rather be - how will this be in the (close) future - and the answer is that it will be more and more important to have mobile optimized versions. You should use a rel=canonical back to your desktop/web version though. Here's an excellent QA which hints at what I wrote above as well: http://www.seroundtable.com/single-url-mobile-seo-13521.html It's okay to redirect to a subdomain or subfolder but if you aim for the 100% you should not (it's not always possible, I know). best regards, Jan

How important are breadcrumbs?
I think they are very usefull on top of the page. As you would probably link to the pages in the breadcrumbs in another way if you wouldn't have the breadcrumbs, it doesn't really matter for your linking structure. Haven't seen any evidence or experience that links in breadcrumbs are less valuable because they are in the breadcrumb. As for additional placement at the bottom: I think it depends on the page. On a content page, actually quite some people scroll down reading and at the bottom they look for alternative resources. Why not add the breadcrumb also there along with other relevant links.
