Visitors via Android App in Google Analytics
Hey there Mozzers!
For one of our clients, we've developed an application on both Android and iOS. In the app, there is a link to the regular website. Can I see these visitors from the IOS/Android app in Google Analytics? Can I find them via Refferals?
Thanks a lot in advance!

Robots.txt for subdomain
Hi there Mozzers!
I have a subdomain with duplicate content and I'd like to remove these pages from the mighty Google index. The problem is: the website is build in Drupal and this subdomain does not have it's own robots.txt.
So I want to ask you how to disallow and noindex this subdomain. Is it possible to add this to the root robots.txt:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /subdomain.root.nl/User-agent: Googlebot
Noindex: /subdomain.root.nl/Thank you in advance!

Does a part of a keyword also count?
Hey Mozzers!
I just received a question from a copywriter: How does Google see part of keywords?
E.g. When a page is optimized for "Pain", does the word "Painkiller" also have influence then, because "Pain" is a part of it? The question is about how he should use keywords for the right density.
Love to read some answers from you guys, thanks!

RE: Inbound links
Ok, but a 'slightly change' is not the explanation for the numbers above, I guess. Is it possible that there's another reason for this?

Inbound links
Hi all,
I was working on some monthly SEO reports and I noticed that the number of inbound links was a lot less compared to last month. I measured these number of inbound links with the mozBar, e.g.
May 2011 - 49.306, June 2011 - 10.659, July 2011 - 1.010
Do you have any idea how this could be possible? I'm really looking forward to your answers!
Thanks all!

HTTP 404 for 404-page?
Hi Mozzers!
SEOmoz just finished crawling one of my websites and this crawl found 3 errors. One of these errors was the (custom) 404-page, because of the http-status 404.
What's you suggestion about this? Should a 404-page have a status 404?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Status 404-pages
Hi all,
One of my websites has been crawled by SEOmoz this week. The crawl showed me 3 errors: 1 missing title and 2 client errors (4XX).
One of these client errors is the 404-page itself! What's your suggestion about this error? Should a 404-page have the 404 http status?
I'd like to hear your opinion about this one!
Thanks all!

RE: Exporting .csv
Yeah, good idea Keri. Wanted to challenge mozzers first but will move on to SEOmoz help.

RE: Keyword rich footer links negative effect
Yes, that wouldn't be too smart. I agree. I have tested that with 2 of my websites Dutch version linking in footer to English version and vice versa. That impacted the rankings extremely negative from Top 10 to Not in Top 100.
But now I was wondering about the effect internally.
What are your experiences?

RE: Keyword rich footer links negative effect
I agree on that. I couldn't filter a negative effect from the ranking factors either. But I have seen it here or there on SEOmoz (as a side note).
When you check the footer of SEOmoz.org. It used to have these categorized links to some parts on the site. However, if you check the current version of their footer, they only use a few links and certainly don't mention any hot parts on the site, let alone mention keywords.
I have tested it on my own site and it did impact my rankings negatively but I wondered if that was coincidence or not.

Keyword rich footer links negative effect
Based on bits and pieces of information I've read on SEOmoz, am I correct to state that:
"Keyword-rich footer links effect pages negatively in terms of the keyword referenced in the anchor text?"This means footer links in
Thanks in advance fellow Mozzers!

RE: Define: Good Content
I wanted to emphasize the scannable aspect in terms of bullet points etc. But, yes, I guess it's the same

RE: Define: Good Content
I agree on that. That's a very important step. Reassurance that they are in the right place before they hit 'back'.

Exporting .csv
I love all the data Roger gives me if I ask him politely. It's awesome to turn that data into a nice looking Excel file for analysis. There is however one situation that gets me into trouble.
When I export CSV, open it in Excel and convert text to columns (seperated by comma) and e.g. a Page Title contains a comma (which often happens); my file seperation is messed up.
Anyone got some tips to handle that?
Thanks in advance mozzers
