I looked at it thinking you were asking about the internal links on the page you left a link to. I am not sure where on the page the link to the author is, except for a contact the author form or their internal link.

If you use firefox then SeoMoz toolbar will allow you to highlight external links on a page. You can then use 'firebug plugin' to follow the link to the source.

With site speed now showing on webmaster tools I'd figure it get a ranking boost for 'performance'.

It does have a lot of linking root domains 2,665 and inbound followed links 13,799 from sites with upto 84 DA, which it probably owns.

So, the link is SEO friendly and visible to search engines. A handler is attached that overrides the usual click behaviour.

I would consider running the site through http://gtmetrix.com as there are large delays on loading content due to blocking issues and some missing gifs and other images 75%-95% larger than required.

Submitting a current sitemap and help the process, at least to get the ball rolling. We tend to see a spike in crawl rate after doing this.

There are a couple of things you should do:

1. In Google webmaster tools 'Site Configuration' 'Setting' set your prefered domain (generally the www version).

2. On your website configuration set up URLRewrite or a 301 redirect from site.com to www.site.com

3. In the head section of each page include a fqdn to inform search engines there is NOT duplicate content and all juice should pass to the www version of the page.

Do you need 8700 pages served on https? Protocol should transition when a page is ok to serve unsecured. Generally you would only serve pages on https that contain confidential information and have general content on http. If you look at the site and ask how many of those pages can a no logged in user see? If they are not protected by authorization then they do not need https as the content is publically viewable.

I would suggest you talk to the developers as Theo suggests to exclude visitors from your test site.

Do you ftp copy one domain to the other? If this is a manual process the excluding the robots.txt that is on the test domain would be as simple as excluding it.

If you automate the copy and want code to function based on base url address then you could create a Httphandler for robots.txt that delivered a different version based on the request url host in the http request header.

So I would figure with all the chatter, they did make more changes recently.

As well as the htaccess rewrite, set the 'change of address' in Google webmaster tools to ensure Google passes all link juice to the desired domain.

When you say they want to duplicate the site entirely, do you mean structure or written content to another language (Hindi). If you target multiple countries then your would be better having landing pages for the relative country and content pages localized and feeding juice to the .com to gain domain authority. This can have value in both mainainability in development costs and allow easier expansion into other markets. Many large sites, Microsoft included would switch content from site.co.in to site.com/in and deliver specific content there and their main content via site.com/content....

If you do create three sites with the same content you may eventually get a duplicate penilty where rankings drop suddenly but you will definitely be splitting the link juice 3 ways. You can easily setup google webmaster tools with the three domains and tell them to give value to the .com if you localize instead of duplicating.

If your design company site is ranking well you can get more value from good strong testimonials on your site than a signature line on site your customers may never find. Take the example that you do a fantastic job on a site to promote kid's books. Someone looking for a good designer for their speed boat site is more likely to read a testimonial on your site than see your tagline on the book site. You gain value by human viewers being able to read what others are saying about your work on a diverse range of sites.

If I am hiring a designer, I do not want one that has worked on a competitor's website so I would search google for designers not look at design by tag lines on competitor's sites.

It comes down to whether you want your two minutes of fame on every site you do or a valuable marketing resource such as testimonials.

You can you a 301 to redirect back to the main page, but where is the anchor that refers to ./category in the first place? There is nothing showing up on your home page.

Your can do a crawl test to try and isolate the erronous link.

The two links your posted are the same page and both work for me.

There is a anchor at the top of the page 'skip to content' that goes to www.cycleexif.com/#category your would not expect this bookmark to be causing the issue, but since it moves the page 1/2 inch you could safely get rid of the link. I did not find any other links when scanning the page.

One thing I did notice is that there is mixed content reported (http/https) which can exclude elements from some browsers, so you may want to look at the source.

We host some sites on GoDaddy but find as far as SEO goes, it is very limited. If you are looking to rank for a long tail keyphrase it may get you somewhere, but the tools of SEOMoz are far more tuned. The onpage in the campaigns here give much more detail than the seo reports on GoDaddy and they are instant. So, you can make some changes and test your onpage with out waiting for 12-24 hours for GoDaddy's email. I have found their 'website protection' is useful for detecting quirks that pose security issues.

When you look at the wording you get an idea of what they are offering 'to improve search ratings'. So if you are on page 50 and they get you to page 48, they have improved your ratings. No-one will find you, but your rating has improved. If you want good rank, work with a good SEO to get your site where you want it, and be patient.

I've asked this one on here before and have some test sites trialling both ways and the sub-directory gains rank much faster from the root than the sub-domain.

If you are looking for lightning fast response but do not want to pay high prices, then an option may be some of the VMware clusters or Cloud severs that scale up and deal with high traffic times. If you have bursts of traffic during certain periods of the day or month, such as specials etc, the you pay more for resources during those periods and less when your server is idle. These can be a good solution for medium to large business requirements without paying for clustered dedicated servers. If you do a search of 'cloud hosting' you can find a range on offer.

Speed can also depend of the type of content you are serving. If you intend to stream video on demand or similar services then you would need to ensure you host has the appropriate CDN facilities to meet your needs. If high data requirements then make sure the data centre can deal with that level of traffic without blocking issues.

If your need content delivered fast to various international destinations ensure the host has clusters in the datafeed areas for the countries your are targeting. e.g. To target Australia you do not want a datacentre in the US as that route is clogged so you would need Asia-Pacific centers etc.

If you want domain.com to get the rank for domain.com/french you can set in the head section of ./french .italian etc to pass the juice back to the main site.
