Hi,

We had lost rankings for certain keywords completely from google's index about 5 months ago. Recently the rank for the keyword reappeared on google. But it keeps moving up and down. One day on 26th position, next day it is on 45th position, then it comes back to 30th position. This has been going on for over a week now. What is the cause of this ? can someone shed some light on it ?

If you were "GOOGLE" would you have 3rd party factors as part of your ranking algo ? I wouldn't.

I wouldn't want my business success to depend on 3rd party performance in this case "facebook"

What happens to google algo, if all of a sudden one day there is no facebook. ? or facebook changes the way they do business, who follows who here?

Our ecommerce site recovered from a manual link spam penalty about a month ago, but the organic traffic is still very low. We are working on getting high quality links and high quality content for our site. Some people are saying that even if you recover from the penalty and build high quality links, etc.. the site will never recover. Is this true?, we are very discouraged by what others are telling us. ?

I d appreciate any help or suggestion we can get here.

I m not sure about the response by Jen. I have never heard penalty being partially lifted. What is the response from google when they partially lift penalty? Never heard this before.

I also agree with highland, you have to submit a file that shows all your work.

We have recovered from a manual link spam penalty about 2 weeks ago after 5 months of cleaning up stuff. I have cleaned about 85% of the links and submitted a recon. and 3 days later i got a message that said the MANUAL penalty was revoked.

Even though it s been 2 weeks we still have not seen any improvement on the rankings. We are now working on getting quality links .

I felt the same way back in January but kept at it. So clean up more if you can and give it another shot.

Ok here is my url goo.gl/Ai17f we have tons of products, some with long descriptions some with short. Categories have some content in them and we also have videos, brands, articles section and a blog. I m suffering from google's algo changes in 2012. We received a link penalty in sept 29th and since then have cleaned up our link portfolio got rid of thousands of links, used the disavow tool and working on new links. We are trying to get back on the right track here. I have fired everyone who worked on this site for the past 3 - 4 years. I m now trying to fix all the issue by myself. I would appreciate if you could guide me in the right direction with any advice.

Yes it is a learning process here. I come here sometimes and read threads hoping to learn some stuff and get advice. But some of the answers are short of helping the individual find the right direction, cause not all of us are seo or into these subjects as deep as some others. Which is better in your opinion a short but to the point paragraph, or longer but more generic content about whatever product you are selling in google's mind ? is having a short paragraph considered "thin" ? is having lots of content considered crowded, too much stuff, or confusing for Jane in Nebraska ? I guess the question is do you have a recipe for what is the right amount ? or do you know someone who  knows.

can disavowing links cause deindexing from google ? we had about 2.5M pages indexed until dec 30th , since then it s dropped to about 600K

We received a unnatural link warning in july, got hit in september, since then we are suffering substantially in ranks and also in business revenue.

We've used the disavow tool, and also got tons of links removed within the past 3 , 4 months. Since october we havent got any response from google about what is going on despite sending another recon in Nov 2012. Now the site is getting deindexed.

what should we do at this point? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi we are hurt by many seo companies in the past who build bad quality links, and we got hit with a link penalty. Can someone refer me to a good decent SEO firm please ?

thank you for your reply. that ip had only mysql on it for over a year and no http files. We ve recently move the mysql to another machine. wmt shows 75K links from this ip to our site. but when you tried to go to the link , you couldnt, even with mysql on that machine.

i read in the google webmaster forums that this is some sort of bug or display bug on ip linking. i m not sure what is going on.
