RE: What to do with 40 short articles to make room for 5 good thorough ones
Ok, so this is a bit confusing... you want to publish the same information in the 5 new articles that you have in the 40 short articles? If this is the case then idea is to 301 old articles to the new one so that you don’t lose traffic. There should be no debate about the link juice as you said there is no link pointing to those pages...
But if the information is different and the previous 40 short articles have different information then the 5 new once then in that case leave them as it is if they are not damaging the user experience because it will help you gain a little traffic but if you think there is absolutely no value in those pages and it might hurt the user experience in that case killing the pages is the best idea!

RE: Theme influence in your SERP
Your Question in particular is that does the theme update will make the site better? There is YES and there is NO at the same time...
YES! If you are changing the theme which is better in terms of design, load, user experience and more then yes it is correct that changing or updating a theme will give more value to website which will result in better SERPs...
NO! If you update the theme focusing on something which is shitty for instance your new theme contain more time to get load, the code is heavy and is less usability then chances are that you may lose your website rankings...
Remember at some point where on-page stabilizes the website’s position some good link building can give a positive jump in Google SERPs.
Hope this helps!

RE: Example of good author page for guest posting
I believe you are talking about Author Page like “About the Author” page and not about Author Tag... if this is the case then there are verity of things you can add on your author page...
I have a author page on my own website that tells a bit about me and then endorsements i got from influencers www.setalks.com/author/mmhemani/
You are not limited to try anything new but you have to keep in mind that author tag should attract people and encourage them to perform some action instead of bouncing back from the website.

RE: Plugins to protect Wordpress Blog Posts?
I don’t think there is any way you can protect your content from others who copy your content and reuse on their blogs but if you are using author bio then should not care who copies your content...
If you are talking about something similar to what Ezine Articles are doing that is leaving a link upon pasting the copied content then i guess this will help! http://www.branded3.com/blogs/add-links-when-people-cut-and-paste-your-content-with-tynt/

RE: Page Rank gone - technical difficulty?
If you didn’t noticed any change in traffic, ranking or sales then there is no way a big problem I don’t think it’s some kind of penalty or you should consider changing your back link profile…. I guess it’s an update problem…
Check your DA and see if you loss DA from the past and if not then things are not dangerous for you…

RE: How to optimize for new subdomain when root domain has all link juice and built up authority?
I personally believe 301 will help as it will allow you to transfer the juice from main domain to the sub domain. Remember 301 redirection will lose some of the juice when transferring from main to the sub domain.
hope this helps!

RE: How long does google take to show the results in SERP once the pages are indexed ?
Sorry but I am little lazy at writing so i will try to keep it short and simple

There is no time of it... but your website should be appear for branded terms like if your website s www.exampleABC.com ... your website should at least appear against “example ABC”. If you want to target more keywords and you want your website to appear against them then other then optimized pages you need some targeted links pointing back to your website.

RE: Are there quality blog sites allowing guest blogging ?
MY Blog Guest, or Post Joint are the great blogs to start but you can also find the blogs that allow guest writing by using Google search operators
Like:
Ecommerce inurl” “write for us”
And more...

RE: How long does google take to show the results in SERP once the pages are indexed ?
Ok, when you said the URLs are indexed, this simply means they are appearing in SERPs, you can type in your exact URL in the Google search bar to see if the page is appearing or not... appearing against a keyword is a completely different topic it has nothing to do with indexing alone.
It’s good to have more pages but if more pages are not producing any value and your overall website is getting low value then you should prefer to go with less pages and more value.
Removal or Change of URL can have an impact on rankings... for instance one of your URL is ranking on first page for some “XYZ” keyword if you are going to change or remove the URL it will obviously going to lost its rankings...
It is always recommended to add 301 from old domain to new domain when changing or removing the URL.
Hope this helps...

RE: Value in content from website being shared across social media?
Active on social media is interaction to me so if the content you distribute on social media sites creates buzz and people started interaction with you... You are active! It’s simple is that!
Will Google find it active or not is a different debate... may be Google+ interaction will be considered as more important as compare to others but this is not conform till yet!

RE: All subdomains of .seomaster.vn are penalized
Not sure what you exactly means by penalized... if you mean they are out of the index.. then this is not the case as i can see your domains appearing in the search results... why they are not coming up against the keyword is a completely different debate...

RE: Rel=Canonical Header Location
As far as my knowledge goes, in any and every CMS system and language Rel canonical is best to put under the head tag so i guess you are going fine!

RE: 404 Error
Usually there is a path redirect module in Durpal.. all you have to do is to add that module and set redirect from old URL to the new one.
Here is a guide that might help!

RE: 404 Error
Now this is very much depends upon what language you are using the system will be different for ASP and PHP or if you are using any CMS then setting up a 301 Redirect will be different!
Need more information to answer this!
-
RE: 404 Error
The URL is changed means there must be a new URL for this... the idea is to 301 redirect the old URL to the new one so that anyone who will visit the old URL will automatically switched to the new URL where the content is available.
Hope this helps!

RE: RSS Feed - Dupe Content?
Personally I don’t think so… but I guess to be on the safe side you can always ask him to add a canonical tag on your RSS feed and the issue will be resolved forever… btw I have seen many websites which copy others content and this thing usually don’t arises…
In my opinion Google is good at picking up this issue.
