Progressive JPEGs. Wondering if I should consider it OR not?
Hi all,
I am pretty new to the concept of progressive jpegs so don't know much about it.
I believe for a webpage with small images (under 10Kbs) I probably shouldnt worry about progressive jpegs but i do have some images for the size 250+ KBs.
Should I go ahead and turn it into progressive from baseline?

RE: Can OG titles be used as a substitute for Meta titles
Open Graph and Meta Titles act slightly different. Open Graph is for audience on social media such as Facebook and Meta Title information can be processed by search engine bots and display results in the organic listings on search engine page such as Google.
Meta title are usually crafted by keeping the keyword search volume, target market and user interest in mind. This help with the rankings on search engines like Google.
Open Graph are usually created to serve meta title that look 'appealing' to the users on social media (Facebook) so as to receive more clicks. There are no rankings involved here.
You can have meta titles and open graph titles as the same or different, it depends on what you are after.

RE: E-commerce website
Schema is slowly picking up and would be very beneficial and will be deemed important by search engines as its a joint effort by Google, Bing and Yahoo!.
Meta tags on the other hand have always been important. Page Title being the most important here.

RE: Indexation of internal search results from infinite scroll
Not an expert on this but Google will crawl and index these dynamic URLs if they are being used (generated by user query) a lot. Here are some methods you could use -
1. Link building for these dynamic URLs - You could do some link building for all the combinations of filters (dynamic URLs. This could be time consuming but well worth. Ideas for link building includes - press releases, blog posts (if you have a blog then can you do internal linking), business directories (if your business has got a physical store then you can create business listings and mention your products strategically (dynamic URLs) etc.
2. Update .htaccess file - Maybe there is a way to set canonical for some URLs to your preferred dynamic URLs. - Okay, as I said I am not an expert on this so I am just throwing this idea out there for if someone is aware of a way.

RE: Baidu PPC Agency Recommendations
Maybe you can do it yourself by hiring a student, who fully understands that language, to write Baidu PPC ads for you. You can even hire someone from sites like UpWork to write ads.
You will have more hold on whats going on and will be getting trained for Baidu at the same time.
Invest less money in the beginning and gradually increase the spend.
I would so love to do SEO for Baidu if got a chance because that market has the potential.

Hundreds of 301 Redirects. Remove Pages or Not?
Hi Mozers,
I have a website that has literally got hundreds of 301 redirects. I had a close look at these URLs and only some of them have backlinks to it and remaining all of them are not indexing in Google and has got not backlinks at all.
Based on what I have noticed experts mentioning, loads of 301 redirects can potentially slow down the site speed.
In a case like the website I have, should I completely take off the pages from website to reduce the number of 301 redirects or should I leave 301 redirects?
There is no traffic or backlinks coming from these URLs.

RE: Https Implementation - Weird Redirection After Putting 's' in http://
Thanks Chris Ashton for your response. Yes, I agree with you on the benefit bit. I dont think there is any sort of impact apart from confusing the users.

Http to Https implementation - What happens to the backlinks?
UPDATE: Found a source that says that Google recognizes the redirects, so it should be fine leaving backlinks as is - https://www.seroundtable.com/google-link-https-20552.html
Hi again Mozers,
When a site's protocol is changed from http to https, what impact would it have on the backlinks? Especially, when the backlinks doesn't contain any protocal mentioned.
Thanks in advance

Https Implementation - Weird Redirection After Putting 's' in http://
Hi Mozers,
I have come across some websites with their https version going to a totally different website.
For example, http://www.samplesite1.com will load fine but when the protocol is changed to https (https://www.samplesite1.com) it will go to a total different domain say, https://www.samplesite2.com
How does this happen, in technical sense?
In the warning from browser, it says the the security certificate is from the other website but I would like to understand how this happens and how it impacts SEO. I seem to be not able to understand the relationship of this error and SEO impact.
Thanks in advance for your response.

If Robots.txt have blocked an Image (Image URL) but the other page which can be indexed has this image, how is the image treated?
Hi MOZers,
This probably is a dumb question but I have a case where the robots.tags has an image url blocked but this image is used on a page (lets call it Page A) which can be indexed. If the image on Page A has an Alt tags, then how is this information digested by crawlers?
A) would Google totally ignore the image and the ALT tags information? OR
B) Google would consider the ALT tags information?
I am asking this because all the images on the website are blocked by robots.txt at the moment but I would really like website crawlers to crawl the alt tags information. Chances are that I will ask the webmaster to allow indexing of images too but I would like to understand what's happening currently.
Looking forward to all your responses
