Kevin,
I wanted to give you an update. The client requested a Google review and it was accepted. Thank you for your input and advice.
Thanks, Kevin.
I'll recommend them to remove the 301 to the new site. Once that has been done, I'll have them send a review. Good to know, that the 301 can possibly hurt the new site.
I appreciate your comment. Very helpful.
Thanks. Yes, the content for the new site is all original. The site.com can't be accessed. It automatically 301 to the new site.
So, there is no content on the site that Google says has a penalty. Should I ask for a review since they will remove the 301?
Thanks
Quick question. As an example, a client has a site named site.com and then changed their business name and business url to site2.com
I was informed that the site.com has a manual action (Pages affected by manual actions can see reduced display features, lower ranking, or even removal from Google Search results.) The page obviously is not active as it 301's to site2.com.
Site.com has a 301 to site2.com. My questions?
Does 301 transfer link power? So if a site is penalized, will the links that 301 cause problems to the new site2.com?
I've requested them to remove the 301. Will, that fix it? Do we need to request a review?
Thank you
Looking into allowing comments on a business blog: mysite.com/blog. Which is the best software to use to allow readers to leave a comment? (Use wordpress) One that will help eliminate spam. Are there some that allow you to sign in without social accounts (Facebook etc) and are there some that allow you to sign in with social accounts?
Thanks
Rand,
Thank you for responding to my question. That's awesome...I'll make sure that's exactly what we do. I'm looking forward to see more about this from the link you provided.
Thanks again.
Brooks,
Thanks for the information. I'll take a look at the video.
We are going to create a few 1 - 2 minute instructional videos. I will be creating a blog that will include the video for our main website. I want to say I read or saw (Whiteboard Friday) that Rand Fishkin mentioned to place the video on your site first for about a month (or weeks). Then, you can publish it on Youtube etc.
It sounds like a good plan. Have Google index your blog with the video and receive organic traffic. Then place it on Youtube.
Is that correct? Is that the best practice?
Like i said, I think it was Rand that discuss this. Would love to get feedback.
Thanks.
Quick question. In regards to linking to products from your blog. I've read recently that linking excessively between your site can be a bad SEO habit.
So, I was curious if anyone else has heard of this. Plus, if you have a blog, how many internal links should you have going to you pages on your site - other blogs, products etc?
Thanks.
Thanks Roman.
You have answered my question and I agree with what you mentioned about the value of SEO.
Hi Moz Community.
I'm currently working on cleaning up a website footer on an e-commerce site. I was curious to find out if including payment options is important? Either text or image icons. Including Visa, AMEX etc. Are there benefits of displaying them? Image attached.
Thanks
Thanks for the suggestions. I was referred to this one that you suggested:
https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/standalone-google-sitemap-generator.html
So, the image sitemap it pretty good?
I currently use a program to create our sitemap (xml). It doesn't offer creating an mage sitemaps.
Can someone suggest a program that would create an image sitemap?
Thanks.
The blog platform is Wordpress. Would this work?
There are a few business blogs that I'm currently updating - include more details, information, case studies, statistics etc. The blog was originally published in September of 2016. Once I make the changes, do I keep the same original date or do I change the date to the day that i've uploaded the new information?
Example:
Original Published date: September 2016
Updated Blog: June 2017.
What date should the blog display?
Thank you.
When I say duplicate content, I don't mean that the content on a clients site is displaying on another site on the web or taken from a site on the web.
A client has a few product pages and each product page has content on the bottom of the page (4-5 paragraphs) describing the product. Now, this content is also displaying on other pages, but re-worded so it's not 100% duplicate. Some pages show a duplicate content % ranging from 12% to 35% and maybe 40%.
Just curious if I should suggest having each product page less than 10% duplicated.
Thanks for your help.
Question. I've noticed in the past and more recently that if you search a business (example: Adidas) in Google, you'll see their activity on Twitter being displayed organically. How can you get your business to show? I also did some research and found that some business that have their tweets displaying are not Twitter verified. I though that may have something to do with it...I guess it doesn't. Does anyone know what "triggers" a business to have their tweets show up organically.
When you search Adidas, you'll see their business info, then the twitter carousel (displays 3 tweets and a arrow to view more).
Thanks for your help.
I was searching Walgreen and I noticed a link next to business link in the results. You click on it and it's a breakdown of the business - business bio. How does that appear? Is there something that can be done to have it display?
Image attached.
Thanks everyone. That's good to hear they will be replaced the link - based on what Google suggests. I appreciate the answers.
Question.
If you wanted to use the Google Demote this sitelink URL - will another sitelink appear to replace it? There is a sitelink I feel doesn't belong and hoping another one that is beneficial appears. I understand Google has control of what appears.
