Makes total sense and I've found the same thing - people like a human element. And, animal stories are always a great route to go - few things showcase a better side of humanity than helping animals, and it's even better when you have a strong community tie to it.
For any project to be effective, things have to tie together, right? It needs to make sense to the audience. Human interest angles (an interview with the GM/profile of the GM) is a great starting point to bring in her love of animals and tie to the company, without the company or product being the focal point. And, to your point, it's can be used for FB content/social. The campaign can stem from that with the CTA of her helping to drive and encourage others to help animals (like the points you made about # of likes = sponsorship).
That can be the foundation, then shift towards the outcomes: what animals are sponsored, what their needs are, etc. You can do it in waves: establishing the connection between your company and animals, profiling your GM, shifting the focus to how the sponsorship of the animal is making a difference, how to drive the audience to get involved.
While slightly self-serving, is there a way to maybe leverage a patch into your project? I realize this could be asking a lot, but to tie it close with the company and what you do, I'm throwing it out there: a special patch that's part of the relationship with the Animal Sanctuary? Maybe with their logo? It could start as maybe a graphic design logo to use in any postings and such, then if there's a way, it could be manufactured with proceeds going to the sanctuary.
You can also do votes/polls = what animals to sponsor? Animal/sanctuary fun facts - easy sound bites for social media dissemination.
Again, it goes back to trying to make it less passive - how can people be part of something vs just reading about it or clicking a button.

My first question would be what is the objective of what you are doing/why are you doing it? There has to be a reason to do RCS, like anything, because you want something for your effort.
Measuring via likes and shares is pretty passive, so aside from visibility, what's the value for you? I'm not seeing an obvious connection between your company and animals, unless it's only a matter of proximity (sanctuary near your office). It's great that animals will be helped and supported, that's certainly a bright spot, so unless there's a bigger "pet" project (ha!) for the company (the owner has a long history of working with animals), how do the two tie together to seem like a natural fit?
It'd be helpful to know a bit more about what you want out of this in order to help with implementation.

If they are already indexed, it's going to take time for Google to recrawl, read the tag and get them to fall out, so patience will be key. It's not a quick thing to undo.
If the pages are all in one location, you can add a disallow robots/text to Webmaster Tools command to prevent that entire folder from being indexed, but again, it's already done so you are going to have to wait for all those pages to fall out.

And, if they are already indexed, you have to wait for them to be recrawled, then fall out of index, so it's not an immediate thing. Sometimes it takes days, sometimes weeks.

RE: 404 Errors After Site Migration
Well, I myself can't tell you why those pages would have errors - I don't know your site to know what is right/wrong or what your folder structure needs to be to ensure the path is correct. Or, as things that have happened to me, for example, in Google Webmaster tools, I'll get notification for 404's to my site pages...even though those pages don't exist. What do I mean? I mean someone linked to my site, but messed up the URL so they (unintentionally) created a bad URL that Google associated with my site. So when you say you have a high amount of errors/warnings, I'd just suggest looking at what tool is providing that information to determine how credible that is.
As for those URLs you shared, are all those legit pages but aren't rendering correctly? Or, are they not real pages at all but somehow the URL was created in the move? (Someone else may be better at chiming in there other than myself.)
I suggest going back and redirecting all the bad pages to a good page, or serve up your 404 page for any bad links you want to fall out.
Even with errors, sites can do better with traffic if the migration means that the site is more crawlable and that along with the migration, if it's easier for search engines to figure out what your site is about and match it to search queries.

Wondering if you can give a bit more background - so did the migration change your URLs/URL structure? If so, what was your link plan to set up redirects from the old URLs to the new ones? Did you update your site map to indicate to the search engines you've migrated? Did you 404 any old content that you weren't moving?
As for your comment "Few are mentioning sites I never seen before on the Yahoo! platform" I'm not sure what you mean - what sites are you referring to? Yours? Sites that were linking to your old site...?

If you don't want that one to appear, you can demote it via Webmaster for now (configuration>sitelinks). It's somewhere on your site, so grab the URL and maybe see what's linking to it via a link checking tool, see if you can find anything that way?

I agree with the others and want to heavily emphasize one thing: show results. Working on sites is great (before/after); showing how you improved them (ranking, revenue, conversions, leads - real metrics) is best as it shows you know how to implement your strategy.

RE: Can PDFs on your website be picked up in search engines?
Agreed! I had an issue with many PDFs ranking. I've done what I can to clean things up so better pages rank instead (my goal is to sell; I'd rather someone end up on my page that has an "add to cart" button AND a link to the catalog/PDF info).
Anyone who says it can't happen - well, it did to me.

Google isn't a fan of duplication. I've been watching more and more companies who had multiple sites realize it's going to bite them, and they have been merging (or, redirecting) into one.
I'd never advocate for two sites, mostly because of the same reasons others mentioned.

I had had this happen several times. It's not normal. Contact support - they are very helpful. For my situation, they had to have a developer/engineer step in to get things back on track.

However, I usually fall back to Visio (believe it or not) mostly because it "gels" better with our overall business tools and more people I work with are familiar with it. Makes it easier to collaborate when I don't have to teach them how to use a program.
I usually start with a sectional approach: what section of the site do we need to work on? What content do we want to include? How will it "live" together in the section and live within the overall site? From there I look at keywords, then we drill down into on page content. I like to see how long tail words can support more generic keywords so a higher level visual works well for me.

Yes, no question. It's the major leagues compared to minors as far as the quality and reach. However, I'll qualify that with this: I don't believe in sending out releases just to get links; I think there has to be news value (as these releases are actually sent to media outlets and they don't like their time wasted) so I'd rather pay the premium for better reach and reporting. BusinessWire also has great options. The rest out there I've never had the same kind of impact with.

Try using Screaming Frog. If you have less than 500 URLs on your site (or at least want to start with 500), it's free. Otherwise, it's about $150/yr for unlimited.
Enter your domain, and it crawls your site like Google. Each link/page crawled can show internal and external links and/or you can select the "external" tab option and see what external sites are linking to your site in general.
Google "Screaming Frog crawler" to get more info on the tool. It's one of my favorite ways to get information on the performance of my site.

Part of PR Web's price point includes (in my experience) how much detailed reporting you get. They should give you something; I will say that even though the initial cost is more, the best analytics I have gotten came from PR Newswire. And I also go a way broader scope of coverage that most can't match. However cost always plays a factor in these decisions.
They should share with you a sample of what reporting you'll get so you can see how comprehensive it is.
Keep in mind that there's a difference in being picked up and just getting a list of websites the release appears on. That's all part of their agreement with news outlets; getting your release re-posted on dozens of sites doesn't have the same "oomph" as a real news outlet opting to run it (you can usually tell the different because it's not a verbatim rehash of what's exactly in your release but rather a more edited version of the content). So, part of it also depends on what you want: a bunch of links or Web postings or real news coverage. Those have two very different intents.

Do you have a nickname or any branding specifics you need to adhere to? OK, that may be something bigger corporations care about, however, there's implications here: whatever you pick for Twitter will feed into whatever you do for other social media, so I'd suggest looking at your overall branding "wants" before making suggestions. For example, people could look on YouTube and Facebook for the Twitter handle you select, so pick something you don't mind carrying over.
I'd suggest being more specific in your location (it'd help users better identify where you are located): Pilates_Bois_Franc (which you may have already looked into but can't get). Is there some other regional/local tie with Pilates you could opt for?
You're better off, IMHO, looking at a branding tie across social media/Web that ties into one or two keywords than just picking a keyword focus that then may/may not support the brand.

Yes, great starting points. Some of the fields may be different but the overall concept is the same as page SEO (page title, headline, text, etc.). Adding it through their site is also great as is social sharing.
