Blog - SEO Better? MyCompany.com/blog or marketing.MyCompany.com/blog? Percent difference?
Hey Joseph - Good question here. It's pretty impossible to say what percentage better a subfolder (/blog/) is than a subdomain (blog.mycompany.com), but there have been many case studies done over the years that it is better for SEO overall. At my old company, we moved from a subdomain to a subfolder and sorted out some technology (went to WordPress from TypePad), usability, and internal linking issues. Over the course of about 3 months we saw a great (200%+) increase in traffic. BUT, we also had a lot of content that should have been ranking, were cranking up the quality and quantity of content we put on there, and actively improving our site's overall SEO. These results not typical, your mileage may vary, etc. I think in your case, I would say that you need to weigh the pros and cons of the effort required to make this work technically with the focus on creating amazing content that gets shared and linked to. I think often we focus too much on smaller technical things like subfolder v subdomain, while neglecting the real reason we are blogging/creating content (to build an audience). I don't necessarily think this is a make it or break it thing for you, but if you have the chance to put it on a subfolder and it's not too challenging technically (I'm not familiar with the ins-and-outs of this with HubSpot), I'd recommend a subfolder like mycompany.com/blog/ Good luck!

Do I need to put the company name in the SEO Title box in Yoast?
Hi Joseph It's usually totally fine to leave your company name in there by default. Then if a particular page title is too long, you can edit the title tag on an individual page basis and create a title without the business name.

Tools necessary for a Technical Audit of website with penalties and need remediation?
Joseph, Yes, GWT = Google Webmaster Tools In GA, you will want to take a look at traffic levels, Bounce Rate, Page views, Time On Page, etc. If any of these metrics show a significant decrease instantaneously (over a couple of days) you can be fairly sure there is something going on from a penalization standpoint. That, or the GA tracking code may have been tampered with during a site redesign. The way to know this is occurring is if your rankings are staying relatively high, but your measured traffic is decreasing drastically. We had a client who went through this just this week - it's a small problem to fix, but it can make your heart race when you think it's a penalty. GWT will inform you of any penalization taken against your website (if it is manual). If it is algorithmic, your only real warning will be your ranking and traffic drops. Besides that, it is also fairly good for security issues, but these may not be alluded to directly. A great way to determine whether a site is at risk/hacked is to check the link profile - if there is an unnaturally large number of incoming spammy links, there are good odds you are the target of a negative SEO attack, or the site is hacked and being used for spam. Use a site: search to determine if new pages are being created on your sitemap and what they are targeting. These are worst-case scenarios, so I don't know if you will be tested on them. More likely you will have to make adjustments to some basic on-site ranking factors like H1's or Title Tags. Feel free to touch base any time if you need additional tips - you can PM me anytime. Best of luck!

Effecting Domain Authority
Hi Joseph! It sounds like you have been busy and I'm sure you are ready to see the fruits of your labor! One thing that may be helpful to realize is how DA and PA work. There is quite a bit of delay due to crawl frequency and delays associated with the crawl and these metrics are delayed by approximately four weeks or so. This is the same reason that a recent article on HuffPo or TechCrunch will show a PA of zero. This could easily be what is going on here. I use a combination of more real-time metrics (i.e. AHREFS and Majestic) in addition to moz metrics. That being said, to increase DA/PA you have to build high-quality links into the site. My opinion is the best way to do this is to make ridiculously good assets and content and then promote them to influencers in the nice. Good luck with the site!

I am doing the On-page SEO for a website that's never had any SEO done before. I will start with the Pages. Is it necessary to do SEO/Keywords for older Posts?
I pretty much agree with the comments here. What this is basically called is a "content audit" - a process by which you go through old existing content, pull together data and assigned actions to each piece of content. Here are some guides on how to preform a content audit; http://www.quicksprout.com/2014/04/24/how-to-conduct-a-content-audit-on-your-site/ http://moz.com/blog/content-audit-tutorial https://www.distilled.net/blog/seo/how-to-perform-a-content-audit/ The end goal is to determine which content you might; Remove Update Noindex Conslidate Repurpose ...etc Then you can assign keywords to the content you have left. But I would do the content audit first then assign keywords, because otherwise you'd be assigning keywords to content you might not even keep

Should I be getting an 'A' Grade for basic words in a page title?
The tool looks at the relevance of the title, to the relevance of the URL, headings, meta and content. Since the tools dont know what you are trying to rank for, they can only see that you are consistant in your efforts to rank for a given keyword. If they all match to some degree, you get an "A". These tools are more for a quick overview, and to point out any quick areas your basic SEO can be improved.
