Hi John There's no problem in buying this website and business from Google's perspective - it's part of the natural cycle of a business. The only problem that might occur is if you made the new website simply a clone of your existing one, or if you set it up just to point links to your site and offered no value to a visitor. If you kept everything pretty much the same, you should be fine and even the website's Google News inclusion would remain, provided that the site is still accessible to Google once you take it over.

Do you use cPanel? There's a nice redirect feature in there - most control panels offer something similar. If not, you may need to get your hands dirty. I'm not that techie but I think it's the htaccess file. cPanel Redirect htaccess redirect Good luck!

I'm not an expert here, but it sounds like your server is configured to resolve wildcard subdomains. Unfortunately, I'm not nearly technical enough to even begin to tell you how to solve it. This is generally configured in your hosting account cpanel, with a subdomain set to *. ( I believe there may be an .htaccess element to it as well.) Since there are so many different server configurations, my best advice would be to consult your hosting company and seek their advice. Otherwise, proper absolute canonicals (with full URLs) on every page should act as a backup safety solution.

I see that there are some plugins that add copyright info to the rss feed, some have a finger print thing going on Was wondering is there a plugin or trick that is standard practice Only had my site in google news for 6 months so new to this

If you want to find all your indexed pages in Google just type:  site:yourdomain.com or .co.uk or other  without the www.

are they a competitor?  If they replaced all the legitimate signals with their own, it's much more likely to be a spam site, or a dirty-tricks competitor or just a dirty-tricks site in general.  In that case, I'd demand removal under DMCA and filing with Google for a removal from the Google index.

I have just done a test with another wordpress site I run. I changed the permalinks and the old URLs got redirected to the new URLs. I checked if the redirect was a 301 and it was. I dont have the redirection plugin installed. It appears as though wordpress does this automatically.

Thanks for this. But the post will contain 2 rel:author tags. It will contain the one for me, as I posted it using my user login details, then it will have the guest posts rel:author tag too Wouldnt that cause problems?

John In that case, unfortunately there's not much you can do. If their main domain or network has been penalized and you are part of it, there's not much you can do about it unfortunately.

If you are able to get those exact 20 posts on one URL page (all in the same category), then I'd just use a PDF printer program like PDF Creator and print the website to a PDF.

At MozCon 2011 Martin MacDonald asked the audience, "Who wants 3 million links pointed to their site?" Needless to say, I raised my hand. Live on stage, he pointed 3 million crappy links to my site, shipoverseas.com. I saw 100s of thousands new links in GWT. He kept them there for a couple days. I told Rand about this in a private email, bascially.... "All those links that were pointed to my homepage didn't have a positive impact on my rankings, but just as important it didn't have a negative impact." Conclusion: Don't worry about it. Google knows that stuff happens. Do what's best for your prospects.

I would need to see this to give you any real feedback on it John but general rule of thumb is if Google looked at these links, would they see and understand the reasoning for the links to be there? Andy

Make them relevant to the site & valuable to the users seeing them. Don't make them just say "Click here for linkbest broker Seattlelink" but create something cool for the visitors of that site, like "Check out Johns 2 minute video guide to picking the best broker for your financial situation" That way "link juice" from those sites will just be a by-product from doing this & you get considerable value with referral traffic as people actually click through those links.

John, yes, nothing to worry about it at all. As long as you are not interlinking the websites, it's just an IP address hosting multiple websites. You might want to consider adding a new IP (which would also be required if you will be installing a SSL certificate for this new website). A new IP is not required at all, but I usually like to if I have the option.
