I do not have access to webmaster tools and the seomoz tools do not show a great deal of the pages on my site for some reason

Majestic shows up to 100 pages. Ahrefs shows some also.

I need to compare what google has indexed and the status of the page

Does screaming frog do thiss?

Is there a way to get a list of pages that google has indexed?

Is there some software that can do this?

I do not have access to webmaster tools, so hoping there is another way to do this.

Would be great if I could also see if the indexed page is a 404 or other

Thanks for your reply, I do have the rel:author set up on my site.

I have just checked the copy site page and they have replaced it with their own author tag and they have rel='canonical' set to their page.

The page copy has the same URL and the full content copied.

Their site has the full contact details, so I guess I will contact them.

What in your opinion should I ask for? The removal? A link to my site? Allow them to only use a excerpt from my site?

I've noticed that there are a number of websites that are copying my content.

They are putting the full article on their site, mentioning that it was reposted from my site, but contains no links to me.

How should I approach this? What are my rights and should I ask them to remove it or add a link?

Will the duplicate content affect me?

I was wondering more about how he achieves this in wordpress. Is there anything technical needed to be done in a theme or a plugin.

I have a similar site structure to his, but I am not seeing the jump links

If you check out his site, I am sure theres more going on with the internal links and permalinks.

Ive noticed that yoast.com › SEO shows up for multiple pages shown in the serps.

I have just seen yoast.com results in Google and noticed that nearly all the indexed pages show a "Jump to" link

So instead of showing the full URL under the title tag, it shows these type of links

yoast.com › SEO
yoast.com › Social Media
yoast.com › Analytics

With the SEO, Social Media and Analytics all being clickable.

How has he achieved this? And is it something to try and incorporate in my sites?

I have just done a test with another wordpress site I run.

I changed the permalinks and the old URLs got redirected to the new URLs.

I checked if the redirect was a 301 and it was.

I dont have the redirection plugin installed.

It appears as though wordpress does this automatically.

Ok great. I hope so lol.

I will be moving hosting from a shared one to a VPS and use CDN so we can really speed up the site.

I am guessing that the best time to do the permalink change will be when we move servers.

Anything you suggest I should watch out for?

Terrified the the site will take a beating and drop rankings

The wordpress site is built using Genesis framework and Ive got Yoast SEO plugin installed.

I cant see it as simply just change the permalinks in wordpress and everythng works lol I wish it was that simple.

Does the redirection pluggin automatically create 301's?

I am sure that wordpress has that built in if I am correct. I recall changing permalinks in past wordpress sites and redrects happened

I understand totally, we always try to look at it from the users point of view.

We do not use the date archives on the site, so having the content in date folders I cant see adding any benefit.

I think the site can do a great deal better with the rankings certainly, but it is on the way up

We get a few interactions, but not many. Would like a lot more

Some of the URLs are getting very long also, so that another reason we would like to change the permalinks

I have also noticed that some of the older posts are dropping down the rankings. It appears a little faster then normal. This may not be anything to do with the permalinks, but its a thought i have had

It would be great if we could just somehow start all the posts from now onwards using the /%postname%/ structure. And all the past articles staying the same URL.

I dont see why we would have to change the already existing URL's of the past articles.

I noticed that some other big news sites dont use the date in the URL's, but the posts show the date.

My concern is that Google may lower the rankings over time as it knows these pages are time sensitive.

Thanks for the redirection plugin link. We currently use that on the site.

I have a site that is doing well in rankings, and its also been accepted in to Google news.

I have around 800 article live on the site.

My current permalink structure is -  /%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%/

What I am wondering, would it be better to change it to - /%postname%/

The reason I ask is that most of the well ranking sites and sites built by SEO companies all seem to have the /%postname%/

Will I get a benefit from changing this? I know that I could republish content have the /%postname%/ permalinks.

Are there any other benefits?

If the is a benefit, I'd perefr to change it as soon as possible before the site grows even more

So are you updating a 1 page post then re posting the same update article?

So, you aren't duplicating the content, your just reposting it so its higher date of being posted is updated?

I have a Google News blog site, I am wondering would repostinng have the same effect or would Google just ignore it as it sees the same URL?

But the post will contain 2 rel:author tags.

It will contain the one for me, as I posted it using my user login details, then it will have the guest posts rel:author tag too

I am wondering now if there is an easy way to give guest authors the rel:author attribute and links etc in say the bottom of their articles.

Is there a wordpress plugin that does this?

So for example, as the admin to the site, I upload the guest authors article, but then I somehow attribute it to them with all the rel:author tags and links options.

wow I never knew that just linking my article to my Google+ page would make the thumbnail appear in Google.

I am presuming having the rel:author tag is required on the article page too, and not just a link to my G+ page?

Ive managed to set up the Rel:Author tag on my wordpress site, and the thumbnail is now showing in Google search results

Each article I write on my blog has a link to me Author page, which has on it a link to my Google Plus page.

So this works great.

However I write articles for another few websites and would like to get my author thumbnail image showing for them articles too.

How do I do this? Do I need an Author page on the other sites also?

I dont think I'll be able to get an author page on the other sites, is it not possible to somehow link direct from the article to my G+ page?

Most web 2.0 sites are sub domains or sub pages, so I dont own the domain or have access to the DNS etc

Its a nightmare as some of these web 2.0 sites I had ranked high and generated lots of traffic for me

So if its been hit by a penalty and needs resubmitting, there is no possible way to do this?
