Hiya everyone!

I know this might entail a novice SEO question, but i am having some doubts. Hope you can give your opinions. Its kind of technical question regarding domain and country targeting.

I have a Steel Construction company targeting only the audience of the particular country. Last year, i bought the targeted domains for my brand (company name), as in domain.country specific TLD,

Should i use these domains, redirect them, or something? Would that help?. I currently use domain.com, but i am constantly being beaten down by websites with domain specific with overly thin content, no PA or DA, and 0 links to their site.

Should i use my country specific domains, would that make a difference? Note: I also run some marketing campaigns for charitable foundation i started, and i used country specific domain and server, and with little effort i ranked top 3 in most of the desired terms.

Loved your post!! From a SEO point of view, i think you are right on the money. I happen to agree almost on everything.

But from a marketing strategy POV, i would think that social signals are key. They not only strengthen your brand, but also ensure engagement with an ongoing and ever changing audience.

You mentioned this " Google does look for this, I had a case study in 2012 that proved this floating around somewhere.". Where can we find your study case! i would love to read it!

Also "every 3 months when Google makes another update lol" haha so true! cruel but funny!

I am also fairly new to SEO. I found this recent guide to be exceptionally accurate in order to rank better, increase traffic and conversions. Blueprint to Rank. Also the beginners guide to SEO is a great resource, view it here. http://moz.com/beginners-guide-to-seo. If you plan to invest time on reading, i would read the book The ART OF SEO by Eric Enge.

However, the best way to learn is to get into the mess and actually have the SEO experience. Start by making your company and site SEO and User Friendly. Then try to engage in the Ranking and Driving Factors such as inbound links, social signals, and user engagement.

As a roadmap per se i would recommend the Blueprint to Rank. Its grrrrrreat!

Thinking in terms of usability. The right on page anchor text would  1) describe the action of clicking on that link, such as "download here" or  2) to give the user an idea of what the "link destination" entails, such as "technical sheet of this product"

I have a set of very specific questions or concerns about anchor text and linking on an e-commerce category page. I was wondering if you could give your opinions and counsel. My concerns or questions:

I have several technical specs or sheets. Which i include the link on the right part in "Informacion Adicional". How should i link those? I am bit worried on the anchor text. Should i use something like [download "product" technical sheet] or just [technical sheet of product] . I dont want to cannibalize, but i also want to appear as descriptive as possible. what would you recommend?

The same thing happens on my videos. How should i link my videos? Is there a best practice? **what would you recommend. **

Did you look at your anchor text profiles for each word you´ve been degraded?. Ive seen that Penguin has good taste for overoptimization, especially on anchor text and low quality links.

I found this posts very helpful to overturned some Penguin attacks last year: Google Penguin AntiSpam. Another resource on strategies to combat the little penguin is right here.

You could also wait it out, maybe its not penguin, it just some SERP fluctuation. Good luck, hope the best!

Yeah, it really its a dilemma. However, i apologize for using that word (cluttered). Basically, you should aim for the taste of your market and users. For me, an ideal or almost ideal ecommerce category or product page would look something like this page. Paddy Moogan gives excellent advice on optimizing ecommerce for conversions, there are tons of advice on optimizing a page for ecommerce.

Its a great thing that you get a lot of traffic, now its time to reel them in. The first thing would be setting your conversion goals. Are you looking for 1) Sales , 2) Subscriptions, 3) Contact forms or calls, amongs other. Or a mixture of them. CleverPhD correctly points out that you should monitor the pages, conversions, everything, and analytics software its a must, wheter is google analytics,or some other software.

In order to gain more trust  (And convert more) and be seen as the most trustworthy option in stackable bins you should aim for five things, and synch them real nice:

• Product Usability: the user wants to be able to experience the product or service features. This can be achieved by incorporating multiple images of the products. Customers actually using the product. Customer reviews are also really important.
• Explanations: I think your site already gives a detailed explanations of the benefits. However, a FAQ would be a great idea to build trust with thorough responses to objections within skeptic customers.
• Simplicity: Keep it simple!, ensure that only the right information is presented.
• Follow Up: This is where a subscription, or registration would come in handy.
• Security: Include trust signals such as TrustE, Verisign, BuySafe etc.

How you doing?, i like the product, it would clearly help me unclutter my desk. Which i think is what the page needs. Although i like the overall feel, i think its just a tad cluttered for my taste. Try simplifying the overall design.

You said this "My main goal is conversions and I'm trying to make this page as good and helpful and easy as possible for potential buyers and visitors." I love this statement, you are going in the right path! Just include some more testimonials, customers using the product, some video reviews, that would help a lot!

Many other options could offer a conversion solution. i would try to i**nclude some great testimonials, some reviews, definitely a subscription list or mailing list. **Also i think you are missing some "call to action" opportunities. The product is great, it solves many problems, brag about it! highlight your distinctive capabilities.

Many people complained by the Penguin algorithm effects (myself included). It seems to have attacked Overoptimization of sites, especially with those with the Anchor Text. I have several clients that have a decent link profile but engaged with overoptimization of anchor text and found the rankings tanked almost sitewide. I found this posts very helpful to overturned some Penguin attacks last year: Google Penguin AntiSpam. It also could be some technical bad redirect, but i highly doubt it. The link profile seems pretty clean in hindsight. Was it sitewide dropped, or only in some pages?

Great! Thanks for the excellent advice! I will engage on a strategy to mitigate the effects of over-optimizing anchor text.

One last question, What is the main difference between deleting links and disavowing ? Would you try to convince to website owners that link to you on changing some anchor text , or just balance them out with links with site url or and brand name?

Hi everyone. I am really worried because of the constant penguin and panda algorithms. I hired two or three SEO agencies and they did some link building for my pages a while ago. And just this time, our rankings dropped almost sitewide some 7-8 positions. I checked our link profile in this site , and we do not seem to have spammy links. I admit that we do have some low link quality, such as directories, blog posts, etc. And it seems to have 10-15 links with overoptimized anchor text, such as keyword exact anchor text, etc.

I have a couple of questions regarding this matter?

1. - What entitles an overoptimized anchor text? I mean, i can´t control people linking to me out there, and many of them used the product or brand name. Added to the fact that my former agency used article marketing links with exact keyword.
2. - If i "overoptimized" my anchor text, what is the best solution?, I could change some anchor text by asking some people. Should i disavow, delete? What is your best bet here?
3. - What is (May 27 2013) best practice for anchor text or link referall. I know it will keep changing, but i want to engage in the right practice right now. should link with www.domain.com/keywordpage.html, or how would one look natural?
4. -I saw some recent links that are really strange to me. Could the competition be sending me some bad links in order to augment the situation. Is that something normal?,  it sounds strange to me.

Thanks for your valuable advice. I know many people are frustrated with these penalties and hits. Because there are still many sites with Mass EMDs, 3-page content, flash sites, that are ranking better than a high quality and engaging one. Any resource is more than welcome to recover from these dropped rankings.

How would you link for a particular keyword, i.e what should be the anchor text?Some of my sites have been penalized, i dont see much "spammy" links in our profile, i do see over optimized anchor text however.

How would change the fan page name within facebook?

Following on the topic. Do you know if the Yahoo Directory would be considered a spammy link or low quality link. In essence you have to pay to be included.

Thanks for the response. I am not worried so much by either of them, i kinda like the momentum of interaction with our few fans, they are engaging and we´ve been getting a decent number of leads from the community.

I wish i could just change the name of the fan page, to something more in synch with the company recent changes.

I dont know if by deleting this account, I will lose them or it will build back but in a slow manner.

I know this is a silly question. But i cant find good advice on the topic anywhere. I have a company fan page with 3,500 fans.

However, there were some serious changes to the company name, and i dont want to start a new fan page, because of the current fans.

Any ideas on this topic?
