Remarketing
The realization that you are being tracked on the internet doesn't sit well with some people. I personally am OK with re-marketing because I am served banner ads related to the products I have already been looking at, so my perspective is that I receive a web experience that is closely aligned with my tastes. However I believe that most people are not aware of what is going on. Remember this is probably a conversation that most people have never had before, and they are not aware of how Google works. You do however have a few options to stop re-marketing.... just clear your cookies. This will remove all re-marketing cookies from your machine. You will still continue to see banner ads, they just wont be related to the websites you have previously visited. You can also surf the web 'incognito', which does not allow tracking cookies. I do however recommend setting max impression per day for your re-marketing campaigns. 7-9 impressions per campaign per day is a good range.

Open Site Explorer Question
Thanks for the reply, I actually noticed something after testing this the internal linking ...the company logo points to default.asp and the sitewide 'home' points to /...I agree that that should be fixed. Now the next question is what the deuce is Default.asp?

Site Search Results in Index -- Help
Thanks for the response James. The 301 redirect makes sense. Maybe you know the answer to this question b/c I was thinking of this as a possible solution the other day. The correct URL pages have canonical tags on them, so what would happen if I were just to cut and paste the correct URLs over the incorrect URLs within the navi. page? Would that make duplicate content issues, b/c internally the correct URLs are live, but the SERP results would still be for the incorrect URLs? Is the canonical tag too weak of a signal in that case? Would the SERPs eventually drop those indexed search pages? Thanks again for the help, as you see I am still learning this stuff, and don't want to screw up too bad

Old Product Pages
I would consider asking yourself what the value of those extra product pages are to the user? If your primary, properly optimized page provides the best user experience then I would definitely 301 redirect the old URL's. It's very likely that although those extra product pages are in the index they don't actually get traffic b/c they never turn up in the SERPs unless you are performing an advanced site: search. Redirect the traffic via 301, don't worry about telling Google anything, they will remove the old URL's once they read the 301. If you have any external followed links to the old pages you may want to reach out to the webmasters to request they link to the new page before you do the 301. I highly doubt these old pages are dragging down your results for your properly optimized page but if they aren't providing any value or getting traffic then your time is better spent optimizing elsewhere. Best!

Learning SEO and Coding
Having your own sandbox to screw around in is a great place to start, Jeff. It will let you begin to get a feel for some of the things that need to be taken into account as you build an SEO strategy for your site. But the difficulty is your new site will have very little traffic so it will be very hard to tell how much impact your changes and optimizations or actually having. Once you get to the point where you feel reasonably comfortable with the basics, and are pretty sure you can operate without creating major risk for the site you're working on, a great next step is to adopt a favorite local charity which has a website in need of assistance and optimization. Total win-win, as the website gets some help that is more experienced than what they can themselves provide, and you get the opportunity to work on a site that has enough traffic that you can start to see the actual effect of what you're doing. Obviously you are not getting paid for any of the work, so you can make it clear that their expectations should be in line with the fact that you are learning your way along in the process. But they are much more likely to allow you the opportunity than a commercial website that is depending on their site for their income and would be unwilling to trust a newbie with the keys. This approach helps address the standard conundrum in SEO: you shouldn't take on commercial clients until you have enough experience, but you can't get enough experience until you actually can take on some bigger websites. User Reviews Question
Sure thing Jeff. They can help in a few ways: 1. They add content to your pages (without you having to pay anything) 2. As you suggested, they can also send you some long tail traffic 3.Google can display the star rating of whatever it is you're reviewing via rich snippets: http://www.dannyvince.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/engraved-gift-ideas-rich-snippets.jpg However, they're a double-edged sword. If you're careful about keyword density and other on-page metrics (like I am), letting a bunch of people write the content of your site isn't the best idea. I'm actually KILLING a competitor's site right now in the SERPs who have mostly UGC/reviews. A lot of this is because my on-page is leagues and bounds above theirs.

Keyword Cannibalization?
thanks Takeshi really useful reply, but i would like to advise Eric, that he should not need to assign category canonical link tag in product pages as product has its own somehow authority. If want to prioritize category page then you need to improve overall on-site with regard to increase more importance than product page for that specific search terms or phrases.
