A few sitemap questions
If the tool is listing those URLs with and without the slash I guess you are linking to those pages with and without the ending slash. You should check your site and remove the one that shouldn't be there. Also, check if the "wrong" version redirects to the "correct" one or at least has the "correct" URL in the canonical tag. The lastmod should be the date that the page was last modified, however, most sitemap generators don't know when that was so they just use the timestamp and a changefreq daily to tell Google basically that they need to scrape the page everyday. In most cases, that's not the case as the page remains the same for years, but that won't hurt you at all as Google has its own methods to verify if a page has changed and "learn" how often your site/page updates that it needs to re-scrape it. Hope that helps!

My site is not being regularly crawled?
Google may have reduced their crawl budget for your site if they found enough pages to be low quality, thin, duplicate, etc... Here are some examples that you can probably apply a noindex tag to in order to reduce crawl budget waste on them. Google these: site:howlatthemoon.com/ inurl:tag 1,360 indexed pages that don't need to be in the SERPs site:howlatthemoon.com/ inurl:tag page Even if you want the tag pages indexed, you don't need their paginated pages indexed too site:howlatthemoon.com/ inurl:page inurl:category A few dozen category pagination pages in the SERPs, many more on the site that have been booted from the index Example: http://www.howlatthemoon.com/dueling_piano_bar/category/nightlife/page/2/ I would install the Yoast Wordpress SEO plugin, which should fix these in the following ways: Use rel canonical tags Use rel Next/Prev tagsNoindex tag pages etc...

Is it more important to have a concise URL or to have the URL in an categorized folder?
Hi Howlusa, My 2 cents: I prefer .com/birthday-parties-chicago It's very easy to understand and should stand you in good stead.

Broad/phrase/exact in one adgroup... what to do next?
Thanks for the response Gregory. I like the first idea. We are about to go through a redesign so perhaps I'll try implementing your idea

World Localities in AdWords?
You can actually look this up in Google Display Planner. Log into your Adwords account and go to Tools and Analysis > Display Planner. Select the topic for World Localities>San Antonio under the Individual targeting ideas tab. "Texas > San Antonio" should show up in the box in the upper right. Now, select The Placements subtab, and Sites. this will give you a list of sites Google thinks is relevant to this topic. The top ten are <a class="sMDB" title="sanantonio.com">sanantonio.com, </a><a class="sMDB" title="kens5.com (MojoPages.com, Multiple locations)">kens5.com, </a><a class="sMDB" title="beaumontenterprise.com">beaumontenterprise.com, </a><a class="sMDB" title="thesanantonioriverwalk.com">thesanantonioriverwalk.com, </a><a class="sMDB" title="tubetexas.com">tubetexas.com, </a><a class="sMDB" title="mywesttexas.com">mywesttexas.com, </a><a class="sMDB" title="riverwalkguide.com">riverwalkguide.com, </a><a class="sMDB" title="hillcountrycurrent.com">hillcountrycurrent.com, </a><a class="sMDB" title="zacktravel.com">zacktravel.com, </a><a class="sMDB" title="corsicanadailysun.com">corsicanadailysun.com.</a> Of all Google's targeting options, I've had the least success with Topics. I'd recommend picking sites from the list that appears, and target them directly via Placements, or pages within those sites if they're not all about San Antonio. Topic targeting is specific to every page, so if you use it, your ads won't appear across all the domains above, but only on pages deemed by Google to be relevant to this topic. I just think it doesn't work that well yet. I've used it with success with other targeting options like interest categories. For example, you could pick an interest category for Travel, and then combine it with this topic to hit travelers reading about San Antonio. Pretty cool, right? Also, be aware that the default location settings for Adwords will show ads to people around the world looking for San Antonio, as opposed to people specifically located in San Antonio. If that's important to you, make sure to expand the Advanced location settings in the campaign settings, and correct that.

Moz not allowing me to add social profiles?
Hi Joel, I am having a problem getting my campaign to connect to another Twitter Account. I have only been able to get it to connect to 1 Twitter account so far. When I try to connect to another Twitter Account it never sends me to the "login credentials" page like it did for the first Twitter connection. It keeps coming back to a blank screen with "272005" at the top of the blank screen. Can you please contact me via telephone to see if you can help? (214) 683-8163 mobile Thanks, Donna Davis

Will deleting Wordpress tags result in 404 errors or anything?
Hey Dan Ha! Yes a lot changes but this is one thing that has stayed consistent - it's still totally fine to delete old tags. They will result in a 404, but those 404s are generally harmless!

A few questions on Google's Structured Data Markup Helper...
Howl, 1. I would mark all up as a food establishment. Under menu/cuisine where you serve no food I would simply put an alcohol menu or link or on cuisine put we server beer, wine, tequila. etc. The reason is this: you are using schema because it is good for you and the search engines. Within the various schema are other properties. So for FoodEstablishment there is ... Bar or Pub. A bar or pub is a food establishment. So is an ice cream shop, winery, brewery, etc. 2. This is the page url. For me in Houston... http://www.howlatthemoon.com/locations/location-houston 3. I suggest you put in your own review schema and make the site where your customers can review you. Why would you want to serve yelp?? What do they do for you? Your site is using Joomla and with a quick check I found several review plugins you could utilize to make life simpler. We do not use Joomla as much but we often use a review plugin with our WP sites. And, it passes the markup test with Google. 4. Opening Hours - Here is the schema for opening hours. Pretty easy. If you look at the bottom of Local Business, you will see what will or will not work. 5. Here is the actual event schema from Schema.org Upcoming shows <div< span="">itemprop="event"itemscopeitemtype="http://schema.org/Event"></div<> <a< span="">href="foo-fighters-may20-fedexforum"itemprop="url"></a<> <span< span="">itemprop="name">FedExForum</span<> <span< span="">itemprop="location">Memphis, TN, US</span<> <meta< span="">itemprop="startDate"content="2011-05-20">May 20</meta<> <a< span="">href="ticketmaster.com/foofighters/may20-2011"itemprop="offers">Buy tickets</a<> <div< span="">itemprop="event"itemscopeitemtype="http://schema.org/Event"></div<> <a< span="">href="foo-fighters-may23-midamericacenter"itemprop="url"></a<> <span< span="">itemprop="name">Mid America Center</span<> <span< span="">itemprop="location">Council Bluffs, IA, US</span<> <meta< span="">itemprop="startDate"content="2011-05-23">May 23</meta<> <a< span="">href="ticketmaster.com/foofighters/may23-2011"itemprop="offers">Buy tickets</a<> So, you are going down the right path, I have never been to Howl in Houston but will check it out. Best, Robert

Are permalinks ending in / different than permalinks with nothing at the end?
I am guessing you must have accidentally set up a link to /win-a-party/ instead of /win-a-party. Search engines used to associate paths ending in / as a directory and paths not ending in / a file. This is a great Google Webmaster Blog article on the subject. I would suggest you either 301 redirect it to the preferred version OR you use a tool like ScreamingFrog to find the incorrectly setup link/navigation and make the actual fix. Hope this helps. Mike

Wordpress tags and duplicate content?
It is true they will not "penalize" for tags or archives directly, but you can make your site much better by doing many of the things Mike recommends above. I wrote a post talking through how to assess your tags, and deciding which ones to delete and/or noindex: here. Here's the elephant in the room too, you may rank for those tags, but do they bring traffic? What is the on-site metrics for your tag traffic? Bounce rate? Time on page? It is true you may rank for some tags, but in general they never provide traffic, or the right traffic, compared to the content its self. -Dan

High CTR, high CPC?
Go to your Keywords tab, and select that single keyword, Go to the Keyword details tab, and select "Auction Insights". This will give you a bunch of useful information: Impression share: How often you ad shows up Avg. position: The average position of your ad when it does show up Overlap rate: You can see how often your ad appears vs. other advertisers Position above rate: How often you're ranking above other advertisers. Top of page rate: How often you're at the top of the page (vs. the side). So if your average position is already between 1-2, and your impression share is high, raising the bid probably won't do much. However, if you're not at the top of the page much, or your impression share is lower, you might be able to get more clicks by raising the bid.

What sort of display network bid changes should i make after I have raised my budgets?
Did you make any other changes (targeting, etc) that would have caused these increases? Based on what you've shared so far, the additional budget has increased visibility volume, but the quality of audience has either dropped or are experiencing ad fatigue. I would look at lowering the number of impressions first. Then I would raise your CPM for each, but at a % that's appropriate for each ad group (they perform differently and should be treated differently) to see if it offsets the CPC raise.

Raised PPC Budgets - spend has gone up, clicks have gone down?
If you raised your budget, but have CPM bidding still on, then you will just be paying more for display advertising. Possibly better places, but not really. I don't think it works like that. You should be bidding CPC on display because then you are only charged when someone clicks on your banner ad (text or image) and comes to your site. The majority of people don't actually click on banner ads and instead visit the site via direct traffic.

Does a number at the end of a permalink matter?
That's why I was going to name them dueling-pianos and dueling-pianos-1. They both like like the first version. Thanks for the tip!

Is all in one seo getting rid of my google authorship?
hmmm. There is a choice for "Primary Author" and then it says you can override the setting on individual archive pages. Other than that, I can't see anything that would go towards answering your question. I recommend going to http://www.authorsure.com to see if there is any documentation on that. The guy who created the plugin, Russell Jamieson, is a really nice guy and is very helpful. He has a page on Google+ where you can get support. Good luck!
