Video seo stats
Hi Phil, Thanks for the reply. The quote (i've since sourced) comes from Forrester (http://blogs.forrester.com/interactive_marketing/2009/01/the-easiest-way.html) but in checking, even IF there was any truth to it back then (2009), there doesn't seem to be any now. Regardless, your insights on video are helpful, and along with the info of SERP Turkey, I've got a bit more direction to go in. Thanks again.

How to set up Rel=canonical in Joomla based sites
Bryan, I've just purchased this and set it up. I'm only just getting to grips with it, but it is an awesome bit of kit, and I'm really happy to have dived in and installed it after your recommendation. Thanks for that!

Domain Authority still down
Hey Gordon, Thanks for following up. Unfortunately, it looks like the index from January 17th and the one that was just updated yesterday, the 30th, are both still being affected by the 2 point drop in DA. Our engineers are still working on a fix for this, but you wouldn't see the changed until at least three weeks after the fix is deployed to the index because it will take three weeks to collect and process new data with the fix in place for a new index. I'm afraid we don't have an eta right now for when this will be fixed. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience this causes. Chiaryn

"Avoid Keyword Self-Cannibalization" - can't find the problem
Thanks again Doug - you were spot on. I guess it was lack of understanding between the way Wordpress sees a page and how Moz reads it. It's right now.

How to work my keywords - should I use exact, broad and phrase match in the same adgroup?
Bryan is exactly right exact is going to be the most targeted. broad can get good impressions and but might have bad ROI. If you are going to do broad make sure you do add negative keywords. Example you are selling sprint phones you could add it as a broad keyword in the same adgroup but you would want to add some negatives as well like: I hate sprint phones or sprint phones suck. That way you won't get impressions that aren't relevant. Anytime you get irrelevant impressions, they don't get clicked your ctr goes down and you quality score goes down. when quality score goes down your cost goes up. So just do it the right way and save money. What you really should be thinking about is best practices for your overall account structure. meaning make sure your ad groups are built based on best practices. that will ensure users are sent to the most relevant pages and that way you don't waste money. Also google will look at account structure and relevance when evaluating your account wide quality score, which will factor in to the quality score they assign each keyword. Your smart by focusing on quality score. In my opinion that is where most people waste money. It is critical to really understand how the bidding and adwords auction systems works every time a query is entered.

How do review sites influence SEO results
Thanks for answering Spyder. I don't know if I'm able to add much flesh to the bones really. The customer isn't mine, and probably won't be - they have their own in house SEO person doing various SEO work. As I say, they encourage their clients to review them, and give them £10 for doing so. How this transaction take place, whether in way of discount on future goods or just a cheque for £10, I can't say. I'm unable to track anything of theirs properly (no access to the account) so can't say how this is impacting things. I suppose I wondered if it was a line worth pursuing for my clients, but I'm suspecting not. In regards to the google adwords, if there are lots of positive reviews/stars giving a big thumbs up, then I expect that will encourage people to click, therefore increasing the CTR, and in the process bring the overall cost per CPC down - I'm guessing at least. Back to my original thought/question - does it affect SERPS directly - I'm thinking not.

Google Adwords - trying to understand the figures...
You are looking at broad match Gordon, I tend to look at the exact term (exact match), you could have terms coming off which are not relevant, which you would almost neg out straight away but anyway that's another thread. Just so you know Google takes the last 12 months of data and averages it, and it's not the exact number of searches either it's rounded. If you put both terms in again, tick both of them and choose 'Download' it will break the search volume down into months for you, you will then see different search volumes for the local search each month. Hope that helped a little.

On page report card - small niggle
Thanks for that. I've seen that, but assumed because the contents were empty, it was OK. I guess my problem is that it's part of the template, so not sure how to remove it. I'll keep digging.

Does social media work with boring clients?
Accounting, at least, doesn't have to be boring. They could use social media to share their own content about small business tips, home budgeting tips, tax tips, etc. or to share and comment on news stories about the industry. Will you have a giant following? Probably not. But it's still worth a few minutes a day. As for the other companies, those are very niche and not sexy. In that case, social media might be primarily about branding and relationship-building -- positioning yourself as a friendly, fun, family company by sharing stories about the workplace, the owner, etc. Then again, there might be a B2B network in those niches. You just have to expand a little. Who buys forklifts? Who hires surveyors? What would they find interesting?
