I've just had the exact same problem. Multiple page one listings, but nothing showing in the ranking reports.

It turned out (with me at least) it was because I had set the www, instead of using the root domain.

There isn't much you can do except make a note of your keywords and competitors and start it again, but make sure you get the root domain set correctly this time.

What are the steps people follow when arranging a meeting with a new client?

I've got two meetings next week, and want to arm myself. All previous SEO work I've had so far has just landed on my desk with no need to pitch for it.

Whilst I'm no stranger to selling, what steps do other people go through when visiting a potential client?

I'd hate to go in after some other SEO company has really pitched well and find myself looking stupid?

I obviously have a subscription here, but are there other tools people would recommend?

Whilst this may be good for discussion, I'd appreciate any tips.

It's happened to me today also on 2 of the 5 campaigns I run.

I'll leave it a day or two, but something is obviously not right at the mo.

As always, this area of paid links seems to bring about differing opinions. Are paid links on directories still valid? Listening to the likes of Ken McGaffin over at Wordtracker, he seems to suggest we should never pay for links or directories.

Moreover, if it is acceptable to go with a legitimate list such as this one  is there such a thing as too many of these (in this list) paid directories?

SO.... is there a final definitive word (at least for today!) - paid directory links - still acceptable and will it harm if I did 30? 50? 200?

Not that it's an issue, but when will this be taken out, as it's still causing confusion and it's nearly a year since we saw this reply?

Thanks for the tips, but I've got to say - a chartered surveyor trumps an attorney on dullness - or at least mine does!

OK, I'm not being rude, but I have a few clients who work in areas that really don't stimulate people - they are just needed.

Examples are:

Accountants
Chartered Surveyors 
Forklift truck suppliers

Not the most inspiring list...

So my question is whether to pursue the whole social media side of SEO with them. I mean, who wants to "like" their chartered surveyor? Do they have anything interesting to "tweet" about?

If anyone has experience of this type of field, then any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

Hi all,

I'm a newbie to SEOMoz, but I've spent months and months researching, looking for free SEO tools, getting as much free info as I can, and (almost) every day, I end up on youtube checking out things such as whiteboard friday, or in the Q&A forums.

In fact I can say it would have been easier if I'd just bitten the bullet and gone with SEOMoz immediately, but we have to convince ourselves don't we?

I'm covering the costs of membership, and not currently making a fortune, but to be honest, it's immaterial - the wealth of knowledge on the site is priceless.

I'll be in it for the long haul. Hope that helps someone.
