RE: 3 Ecommerce Stores All Under One Roof - Good idea? SEO Benefits? Concerns?
Years ago I tried to do the same thing and Google Trashed all my sites.
So tread very carefully, use nofollows if you are going to link to them or interlink between them.
It is something not often done and very few will be able to give you a definitive answer.
One thing is for sure, people on Google help forum do not understand owners of multiple businesses and will tell you to merge them under one site. Or question why you own more than one site and how you are able to successfully mange them at the same time rather than give you an answer of which they also do not have the answer for.
My best suggestion is to ask John Mueller from Google in a hangout he will give you the best answer, view upcoming dates here https://sites.google.com/site/webmasterhelpforum/en/office-hours

RE: Google Webmaster Tools > HTML Improvements > 301 Moved Permanently pages - how did they even get there?
Interesting..
The pages are indexed in google and If you look at the cached pages you will see the blogs existence and the site they were created for. sportsunlimitedblog .com
The question is, what software are you using for your site? Is it fastpivotsoftware, I noticed it in the code? Does it allow for users who sign up to also create their own personal blog? Many software solutions have this feature, even if you do not have it showing it may be enabled.
To become a new customer on your site there is no captcha code or security which could leave you vulnerable to spam account creations.
It is unlikely this is hurting you right now, but it could have done in the past and could do in the future.

RE: Crawl Diagnostic Duplicate Titles
There are a Few options if I understand what you are trying to do.
You could call put "page x - rest of title" on any page that is not page 1? and leave page one titles as is?
You Could noindex all pages at are not page 1?
You could rel="canonical" all pages that are not page 1? But if main page content is different Google will likely ignore it.
In "URL Parameters" in Webmaster Tools you could select "Yes: Changes, reorders, or narrows page content", this will likely be a good option for you.

RE: How to view all 'followed internal links' on a page
There are lots of tools out there, the one I use is http://www.webseoanalytics.com/free/seo-tools/link-structure.php
It will give you a full breakdown of each url, if it is dofollow/nofollow and what anchor it is using.
Very helpful.

RE: Is Penguin 2.1 an actual penalty?
Does Google just devalue spammy links, or does it devalue the links and penalize your site on top of it?
It will Devalue the links but also penalize your site if you have been a big abuser of unnatural links
Does it hit specific keywords, or does it have effects site wide?
It will do either of those depending on the severity and you will be able to see this in webmaster tools sometimes.
Does penguin run constantly, or only on specific days?
Penguin runs roughly twice a year currently, but is always in effect, you can get an unnatural links penalty at any time. Some have said it runs in some way with Panda
If spammy links are removed, how long does it take to recover?
If you have a Manual penalty you will need to file for a reconsideration request. Once your penalty has been revoked you will need to wait for the next Penguin refresh (My estimate is April/May)
If its an algorithmic issue, you can see changes happen once a month but you will need to wait for Google bot to crawl those changes. For example if you remove a link you will still need to wait for Google to crawl that site and see those links have been removed. And in some cases wait for a Algo update.

RE: Does my website have an Exact Match Domain or a "brand"?
It concerns me that doing searches for snippits of text on your site in Google, show much weaker sites first.
Such as "We love to visit Thailand when ever we can and we always"
and that you do not rank for "traveltipsthailand" as one word. this screams penalty when you see other sites like statistic sites ranking. Yours is 83rd!
Can you confirm you have checked Webmaster Tools for any alerts or warnings?
If your link building efforts have been based on those words there is a good chance you are being devalued for them, but to me something more serious is going on.
Not that it should be an issue related, but I do find your website is a little slow to load than most.

RE: I want to put 65.000 productpages on NOINDEX, FOLLW at once! Would Google mind?
Always keep in mind that Google will not simply re-crawl all those pages right away.
It can take weeks/months for Google to crawl each page and change its indexing.
I have personally done this for over 1.5 million pages all in one go on my site and had no issues.
Staggering it will not help control the speed at which googlebot looks at them.

RE: Orphan My Home Page
Agreed, its a common problem when you are playing in the unknown.
So many people have been hit by link penalties because most link building was done to their homepage. If they are unable to clean up the problem it would be ideal for them have a solution to suggest a new homepage address in Webmaster Tools.
Many would argue that the disavow tool should be the solution to that. I do not think it is having the same effect by nofollowing those links right now.
I will ask John Mueller at Google the question on Friday and see what he comes back with

RE: Quick Rel Canonical Link Juice Question
Adding a canonical tag from another domain is a whole different matter.
http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.ca/2009/12/handling-legitimate-cross-domain.html
Google is aware of where it found content first and the tricks people use to try and fool it. This subject has been brought up numerous times in Google Hangouts.
"While the rel="canonical" link element is seen as a hint and not an absolute directive, we do try to follow it where possible." Google
There is no "penalty" for duplicate content, Google calls them Algorithmic devaluations. content theft has been an issue for years and making small changes to content does not work well anymore.
Also look into Google Authorship for further protection.

RE: $360 charged to embed 2 youtube video clips on web page with CMS system - Realistic?
How much do they charge per hour?
If they change only by the hour and not by the minute and this is an hourly charge then their terms do not suit your needs.
However if this is more than one hours work, then you must question the competence of their staff. Just because they are bad at their job does not mean you should have to suffer the costs.
Either way it is outrageous. I am sure you will find someone great here to be your new go to person.

RE: Orphan My Home Page
I was just looking at the same thing for myself yesterday.
I found this thread very interesting and think it might be what you are looking for.
http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/4606464.htm
Basically you 301 to a page that is blocked by robots.txt and that page redirects to your new homepage. So when users come to your homepage they will land on the correct page.
As always be very careful when trying anything like this. Google is unpredictable when it comes to things like this and their robots are getting smarter by the minute.

RE: My homepage is not getting indexed by google for some reason
If it does not resolve itself and by the sounds of it, it should have by now. There is always the option of contacting John Mueller at Google. There will be a Hangout Q&A this Friday where you can ask that exact question. You can post your question to him right now at http://www.google.com/moderator/?#15/e=203709&t=203709.7c&f=203709.6c6f70 and he will get to it live.
Sometimes when there are weird issues, John is a great resource as he has all the inside tech to check a problem.
He has helped me many times before.

RE: IP Address: Ownership Location Versus IP Resolve
There are a few key things to keep in mind when it comes to the location of your IP.
The easiest question, do you only want US traffic. If so the easiest thing to do is go into Google Webmaster Tools and change your settings http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ Click the cog on the right and select "Site Settings" then select your "Geographic target".
This was created because many users decided to go with cheap hosting offshore.
Other factors:
How old is your domain = Creation Date: 24 Sep 2001, wayback machine has indexed knowledge of your site since 2001 as well (http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://1800doorbell.com) A long term knowledge of the site by Google will not cause it to suddenly target a new location
What does your link profile look like: If a large portion of links pointing to your site are from US sites it will deliver US traffic regardless of its location
Does your content target a US market?: it seems too, however when I look at your contact us page http://www.1800doorbell.com/db800-contact.htm your contact info is an image with a US address, Google will be unable to crawl this information.
There are many factors why Google will decide what local traffic to send you based on your sites history. But the safest bet is to select it in Webmaster Tools.

RE: Quick Rel Canonical Link Juice Question
No Both pages stay exactly as they are. A canonical tag does not work like a 301 redirect.
John Mueller at Google has stated in the past that even if you use a canonical tag it is only an indication to Google as to what page to use, Google will still make its own decision, both pages will always remain on your site and each of those pages will have a different link profile that will affect them differently.
Adding a canonical tag will not merge the link profile, If you wanted to get the link juice to merge from B to A then a 301 is your best bet.
Hope that helps
