If this senior SEO is your boss, then just link it to the regular image as it's done in WordPress. It won't hurt anything.

You would point like this:

the /AboutUs is the URL you want to 301. The NewDomain is the domain to want to point to.

H1 tags do NOT carry a lot of weight for SEO. It gives no ranking benefit. Also, this sounds like a spam tactic:

"...drop an H1 tag into the middle of a sentence and the user would be none the wiser... just a hint."

Use H1 on for the user experience. I use H1s to make a clear indication to the visitor that they reached the right page.

OSE is not as accurate as Google Webmaster Tools. Go into GWT and check your links there. If you see a difference, then use the information on GWT. OSE is great, but RogerBot is not as sophisticated as GoogleBot.

The blog network (link juice farming) is against Google's Editorial Guidelines. You never know if you'll get caught, but many people have.

I would only have one blog because you can build a lot more authority with one blog than splitting up the blog five ways.

I think you should first have your customized link building strategy drawn out for you 1st. If the companies you seek cannot meet those standards, pass on them. Get them to give you all their work so you know they aren't messing around.

ADVICE: Don't forget to have your 301s already prepared! My urls used to end like the example.com/whatever.html. On WP they end like this example.com/whatever/

So make a list of all your URLs and have it prepared ahead of time so you don't get ht with duplicate content.

BTW, I suffered ZERO loss of rankings going from HTML to WP.

1 directory submission to BBB will probably be WAY more effective than 50 wack article directories.  Also look into joining the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce if you are in OC. Real companies join those organizations. Google knows that. Also, spammers won't want to spend the money to do that stuff.

I wouldn't risk external link in the footer even if it is an exact match domain.

There are many factors that can make a website lose rankings. We don't know what it could be with the information you provided.

Michael, I don't know if switching from the .net to .com would be the best solution. With 2 million page views per month, you're possibly talking about a big amount of traffic gone. It sounds like you have a well established website.

here is why. authorize.net is already branded as a company. If they were to become authorize.com, I would literally type into the browser authorize.net.

If you make the switch, expect to lose a little rankings. You can always make it up later to get back to 2 million page views per month.

I forgot to mention, try to get your links on pages, not just blog posts.

Think creatively on why someone should give you a link on one of their landing pages. I normally give links to gov't sites and the BBB. Why should someone like me link to you on one of my landing pages? How are you going to make my life easier?

Maybe you can make a widget that is only for a certain company that has a back link at the bottom of the widget.

You are mixing designers with marketers, not good. I have known many designers who say they 'know' SEO. Designers are designers. If I were in your situation, I would find a developer/designer AND and SEO.

I do development and SEO. I do not do design. You may be looking for two different people/companies. One definitely for you c# development project and the other a skilled SEO.
