Does Domain Authority Consider Social Signals?
Thanks, the reason I ask is we're updating an SEO audit snapshot tool we have and we want to use the minimum amount of data points to get a score. I was hoping that DA could be used to represent link/social signals as a whole. Since scoring social is a bit tricky. We want to get away from trying to score everything. Since the more things you try to score the more room for error their really is. This would serve as a snapshot of SEO performance and not an in-depth analysis. We broke our snapshot analysis into 4 parts: Website Influence - How influential does a website appear (links, social etc -This is where DA comes in) Satisfaction Rate - Do visitors appear to be satisfied with the website (Reverse of bounce rate) Brand Recognition - Is there a search demand for the brand. Search Visibility - Is Google rewarding the website with search visibility? We felt if we could score these three things it'd give us a snapshot of how a website could be doing. A deeper analysis would be required to get a more accurate picture.

Location Pages and Duplicate Content and Doorway Pages, Oh My!
Thanks for the comment Laura! I was aware of the fact duplicate content wasn't the issue, but it just baffled me that this very obvious black-hat tactic wasn't punished by Google in any way. Even though their guidelines clearly stated doorway pages are a big "no-no". Let's hope the December 2017 update has a noticeable impact Have a nice day!

Creating a Domain Specific Keyword Difficulty Score
It can be used for reporting as well helping set expectations for SEO clients. If Client A has a very low domain authority and wants to compete for very competitive keywords a score like this can help set expectations as to what keywords are realistic for them vs. keywords that are out of their grasp. Thus helping you develop a campaign that helps them target keywords that are within their grasp.

Does putting blog post on the root put you at a disadvantage?
Site A Root /services/ /about/ /contact/ /blog/ /post1/ /post2/ /post3/ Site B Root /services/ /about/ /contact/ /blog/ /post1/ /post2/ /post3/ Do you think Google potentially would treat these two sites differently in anyway?

Our Panda Content Audit Process
We updated this today to include a new type of content to look out for... Broken Content (Extremely Dangerous) – Broken Content refers to pages that are broken in some way. Ask yourself if a visitor arrived at your page, would they notice something was wrong with the code? This typically includes broken links (internal and external), broken images, embedded content that no longer works and improper use of HTML or CSS. We added this after seeing that Google was typically filtering/unfavorable of "broken content". Let us know what you think!

Blackhat Winners after Penguin 2.0
I agree with y'all, this is definitely a short term win for your competitor. I've seen a lot of our competitors have short gains since penguin 2.0 with spammy tactics. It'll come back to bite them, we just don't know when. EGOL, is right too, they are pretty dang good at blackhat. If there is a way to spam up the universe they've got it down to a science. I haven't looked at their backlink profiles, but I'd expect to see quite a few chinese domains in there.

Strange Pingback/Blog Comment Links
If that site is representative of the rest of the sites, then I'd say you might have a problem. This is going to involve a judgement call on your part, because as you say, Google has no hard and fast recommendations for these situations. Looking at that site, the "Name" links are do-follow. Yours is one of 965 comments on the page. My guess is the site recently got itself added to someone's "do-follow comment sections to spam" list (yes there really are such lists) as all the crap links are from the last 4 months. So to Google, this will absolutely look like the crap it is trying to hammer down with Penguin. As for "not worrying about it until penalized" - just read through the miserable (and often futile) experiences all over the Q&A section here of site owners who have spent a year trying to dig out from under a Penguin penalty. And as for these links helping you at the moment - not bloody likely. Crappy internal pages with a PA of 1 and 965 links sure aren't passing you any ranking value. So... how to decide what to do? How strong is the rest of your backlink profile and what percentage are these crappy backlinks? What's your link velocity for quality links compared these crap ones? (i.e. how frequently do you earn quality links compared to how often these new crap links are showing up?) how many of the crap links are actually do-follow? If your own backlink profile is overwhelmingly strong, there may well be less to worry about, especially if the majority of the crap links are no-follow.The problem of course is that there are also plenty of reports of people running into issues after using the disavow tool too. So that's where the judgement call comes in. If it were my site and I depended on it for income, the crap links were coming quickly and many were do-follow, I would collect the crap links as they come in, and once every 6 or 8 weeks, or when the links really start to mount up, I'd submit a disavow request. I'd also keep excellent records of the crap links and the quality links I'd been earning so I could respond quickly to a manual penalty should one come up. Like I say - judgement call. Interested to know what others would do. Paul
