Anchor text internal links
You should always (by always I mean whenever possible) use the keywords in the link to your site, regardless of whether they are coming from the external or internal source. There is a very good example of how much it might help with your SEO campaign. If you type in Google 'click here' you will find that top of the list is Adobe Reader download page. The reason why it ranks so well for this, rather unusual keyword is because many websites, which offer PDF download also put the sentence saying something along these lines: "...click here if you haven't got it already installed on your computer...' where 'click here' is the text of the link to the Adobe's page with the Reader download. Now - when you put a link on page A to page B - you give the keyword credit to page B, but also page A, because the keywords actually appears within the content of page A as well as points to the other one. I might be a bit confusing, but at the end of the day you are building a keyword rich website.

Hi dpaq2011, you don't have the rel=canonical tags but you don't have an issue. It might be that the server you are using automatically has a redirect on the .htaccess

TLD domain rediversion
Hi There Yes there are differences between the two options you've described. If you simply want to redirect one domain to the other and nothing more, then Option 1 does the trick, quick & simple. If you require services such as email forwarding from the .co.uk to the .com or wish to have further control of the .co.uk from your .com hosting, then Option 2 is the better one to go for. I hope that helps, Regards Simon

Homepage vs specific page Backlink
I'm suggesting that you should focus on inbound links rather than internal links at this point. You've got a strong base given that you're hovering in such high positions already for the home page. Building on this through inbound link and social media efforts would be the primary place to put your link building energy and resources. And again, even in that scenario, work on a mix of links pointing to both the home page and inner pages. If you do this, over time, you'll find you may bounce back and forth for a while between the home page and inner pages showing up in ranking, yet ultimately you'll get both the home and inner pages showing up in the results. If you then also seed in brand related anchor text from external sources and social media, you'll also achieve the ultimate results for your brand - having Google SiteLinks show up with your brand in the #1 position AND having other site pages show up in the mix further down.
