I agree. Not only for speed, but there's less chance of things failing in the future if a plugin is depricated. I just finished a site with 200 pages, and rather than using the 'standard'All-inone SEO pack, I decided to use php to automatically generate the title's, meta descriptions, main photo, etc (all based on the url of the created page). I haven't tried analytics 360, but I will now, thanks Laurent!!

RE: SEO for different English spiking countries
Hey Drory, I've recently been looking deeply into this myself, so here's a bunch or resources I have saved that I think will help you. Hopefully, some other SEOs with specific experience in this will share their experience

1) Milly Oye - IP Delivery [video]
4) Rand Fishkin - International SEO [video]
5) algogmbh_petra - International SEO (part two of Rand's video)

RE: How do I get a list of my non-followed links
You can export a list in excel from Open Site Explorer. Does that help?

RE: Are you guilty of too much planning and not enough action like me?
Howdy Dunamis, I don't think you're alone with this at all. We use Google Calendars to manage our time carefully and to avoid slipping into the 'SEOmoz analysis paralysis'. That said, I personally feel like that's half the fun of being an SEO, all that study time! It makes me wonder how companies like SEOgadget, Distilled, and SEOmoz (when they did consulting) are able to teach and innovate soooo much. And yet they got stuff done as well. Distilled's new mantra seems to be Getting Things Done, so I suspect they've had the same problem also

I think a 50/50 time split is well enough. Perhaps, 70/30 (doing, studying) for those working by themselves. What do you think?

RE: What do you do about links to constantly moving pages?
Hey Spencer,
Is there a way you can dynamically pull the information (for the job) into the page.... so that once the job goes away, you can then change the informatino to be a new job?
The only catch to that, would be the URL structure, becuase obviously you would need to make the URL's generic, such as "/bay-county-seo-job" or something instead of mentioning the company.
On Distilled's recent conference call / webinar, Will discuess their project hiremarshall.com (I think that webinar would be of some help to you- and anyone else reading this).
Specifically, you could develop a model which keeps those pages live, so that the company uses that same page for all of their new job openings.

RE: Brand(keyword) - dominate on SERP
Hey MetiX,
Danny Dover did a great video about brand search results. And Brian Patterson wrote about his online reputation management playbook. Hope this helps.

RE: How do I get a list of my non-followed links
I like to download them all into excel, and then do the filtering from there. Here's a great resource for getting started with Excel for SEO. Does this help?

RE: Is there a tool to show you new links to your site?
Hey Dunamis, Yes!
We actually do this for our customers' sites and their competitors' sites. It's a great way to stay 'in tuned'

2) neboweb wrote a more detailed post about monitoring for web mentions with Yahoo Pipes
Does this help?

RE: Looking For Webinar Topics
Hey Casey, I've got an idea I think would help everyone.
Minor programming: using API's to build great content and link/social bait.
I've been searching the web for help getting started with APIs, but I can't find anything very useful for beginners trying to understand the basics. We could use SEOmoz API for examples to help people get started. This ajax'ed comparison tool is kindof helpful, but in my opinion there's not much (great) content on the web about this topic

RE: What kind of keyword difficulty should I be aiming for when launching an new site?
I absolutely agree Marc. This is a HUGE Pro Tip that took me a while to fully appreciate.
By targeting the long tail version in the short run, you can build up some traffic, trust and other metrics. But you're also simultaneously targeting the head term so as time goes along you'll likely end up ranking for both (if you've followed a well devised strategy of course)

Thanks Marc, Cheers

RE: Wordpress vs. mvc framework
Thanks, Richard.
I definitely keep a subscription going with lynda.com. I think we should get SEOmoz.org to add them in the discount store.

RE: Do any of you regularly use expired domains?
Yeah, sorry too. Ethically, I would say it's gray hat on a small scale, and black hat on larger scale. Of course, that's completely subjective. But I say this because, the main purpose of the secondary site's existence would be, in fact, to 'trick' search engines.
Just my opinion. I also can understand Steve's point of view. -
RE: What are your best latest Plugin Downloads ?
Hey Garry, I asked the same question about wordpress plugins
Check it out, everyone had some great responses!Lately, I've been using admin page treeview and advanced custom fields. I highly, highly recommend both.
For SEO, I usually steer away from plugins and prefer to code with php based on the page uri or title. Sometimes for meta descriptions, we use custom fields. Most of the time, if the site is 50 - 1,000 pages, we just hard code everything using php functions and variables... Perhaps I should post a Youmoz about that. Sound interesting?

RE: How do you visualize website structure
I second the smartdraw software.
I've been happy with it because you can do several other things with it.

RE: What's your best hidden SEO secret?
Hey Nick, I didn't notice this until just now- sorry about that.
Do you mean the testing process for keyword research in Adwords?
We'll research the most probable keywords for qualified visitors, and then either:
#1. test tons of exact match keywords to see real-world worth of each, or
#2. put a few very short broad keywords in, and then use the tool "see all search terms' once the campaign is over to see what the marketplace is actually searching forThen of course, we optimize the site and create a link building plan for those phrases.
