Well, 3 spots drop in rankings is surely not "quite dramatic drop". It can happen for many-many reasons. What I would recommend though is to check if the domain name you have purchased ever had (or still has) penalty or spam issues. Usually, if everything is clean, it wouldn't affect your rankings.

As for irreversibility - nothing is irreversable. However, if that domain was in fact the reason of ranking drop due to spam issues, then it might take longer to recover.

Yes, disabling would be the first thing to try if you think that was the reason. See how your rankings react, if there are any sudden changes. However, I do recommend to check other factors like your backlink profile changes, content cnahges, your competition SEO changes and so on.

Bing, Yahoo and Google have completely different algorithms. It's quite easy to rank in first two, comparing to Google. Now, since the algorithms are so different, it's very hard to optimize for all engines at ones. I have many clients who rank in top 3-5 on yahoo, but nowhere in Google. The thing is that traffic share brought from non-google engines is so little, even when the rankings are great, that we pay very little attention to optimizing for those engines. Usually, if you can get good rankings on Google, good/fair rankings in other engines will follow.

So, you shouldn't really compare Bing and Google. "Forget" about Bing and start working on optimizations in Google without comparing to anything, because, most likely when Google rankings start growing, Bing rankings will go down, especially in the beginning of optimization journey. Of course, if most of your organic traffic brought from non-google engines and you don't think that it would change, even after good rankings in Google, then maybe you shouldn't be optimizing for Google (very strange feeling when I was typing it).

Well, the key would be how many backlinks there are and how likely for your blog to lose its rankings and value if you move it off that high DA domain. Also do consider that generally 100 backlinks from the same domain is not bringing as much of a juice as 1 backlink from 100 domains. Some say it's really referral domain what matter, not as much as quantity of backlinks from that domain.

You are surely right when you are saying you didn't give enough information. There could be so many reasons. Did you have a promotion or sale or some type of news picked up an article or something? Cause it surely looks like something like that, because if you look at amount of traffic now and before spike - it's the same. Also spikes don't happen for no reason. Additionally, are you sure it's not some type of spam bot or ghost traffic?

I'd look at how much traffic those pages get organically. If nobody lands on them directly, then you can actually drop the redirects whatsoever. However, just in case, and if there is some organic traffic to those pages, then yes, I'd do 301 redirect to matching location pages on new website.

Also I think it'd be good UX, if you have some kinda way to tell users that they haven't been redirected by mistake to completely different company. So, maybe popup or something saying "You're in right place! We have a new name! Welcome to NAME company!"

Well, in the same article you are referring to, is this text:

I understand that a lot of this content contradicts each other etc, but I'd look at this problem like this: it's not a secret at all that Google puts (or at least states that they put) User Experience first. So, Look at your page and see if users, after they land on it, would be happy. If everything makes sense from User point of view. If "expand" buttons are large enough and portrait that by clicking on them you'd expand content etc.

Also, as Matt said, is there 8 pages of content hidden and being displayed after you click "expand" and ruining your day?

I believe that as long as it looks good, makes sense to user and is good content, there shouldn't be any problems. The only workaround i see is instead of expandable content, to have simply links to other pages. I've seen both scenarios work.

Of course it can! The crawl rate is in pages per day, so if you remove pages (especially 1.5 million), there won't be as much to crawl

Also it can happen, if you have the same static pages and the crawl bot has crawled them all. Google doesn't crawl all pages all the time, they have limited resources. So, if you have launched or updated website recently and now not really updating it, you can see the change in crawl rate.

Well, here is a thing. Would that keyword in url and breadcrumb make sense from user point of view? Eg.: site.com/shoes/help/how-to-clean and site.com/dress/help/how-to-clean would be good structure if that would match the navigating to it (you'd go to shoes category, click on help button and then article). And it would be bad if you go to "how to clean" section, and the find article on how to clean shoes.

Not true, actually. On desktop it's just displayed differently. If you do your search, you can see that nordstrom name is actually on the right of breadcrumb names.

So, that's another thing. If you can get your company name to come up like that (it usually is being pulled from Wiki), your chances go up by a lot

I see some issues:

1. you say you use rel=next and rel=prev. When I go  to provided url and look at the source code, i see only rel=next and ALL of them are linked to ?page=2. Definitely look into that.
2. when i hover over page numbers, it shows me url structure as ?page=x, not the post request, so, there might be some miscommunication in the code. At the same time, ?page=x are existent and not redirected to post request pages (I assume that's what you want to be happening). So that might be an issue as well.
3. It seems to me that what's happening is if i click on pagination button, i get to ?page=x, then internally from page the post request is being sent and it changes the displayed URL. If this is true, then ?page=x will be displayed in SERPs, because POST url change is happening after page is accessed.

Your question is not really a question, rather your thoughts maybe?

Anyway, Google News rankings are based on, yes, typical SEO signals, but, more than anything, time sensitivity, mentions and social signals. So, an article, released today, which got traction in social media (shares, retweets etc), and some links will be performing at the top. So, base your optimization on that - the more newsworthy and shareable your content is - the better results you gonna get.

You misunderstand the meaning of that article.

"...that when you do block thin or bad content, Google prefers when you use the noindex over 404ing the page..."

They are talking about the walk around the problem of blocking pages INSTEAD of removing them.

So, if for whatever reason you don't want to delete a page and just put a 404 status on it, it's worse than putting noindex on it. Basically, what they're saying is:

• if you have thin content, DELETE it;
• if for whatever reason you don't want to delete it, put NOINDEX on it.

P.S. My suggestion still stays the same. Delete all bad content and, if you really want, put 410 gone status for that deleted content for Google to understand immediately that those pages are deleted forever, not inaccessible by mistake or something.

Well, unfortunately, having pages/products marked up doesn't guarantee that google will use that markup in rich snippets.

And, as far I know, there is no way to "make" Google use it. The only what you can do is what you already have done - make sure that everything has no errors and validate it.

To see the list of fresh backlinks - go to Open Site Explorer and go to "just discovered" section. This will return the list of... just discovered backlinks. The only problem - it'll give you data for past 60 days only (as far as I understand). So, if you need past that - use other backlink tools with historical index like Majestic.

I don't think there is any specific courses for technical SEO, since it includes html, css, js, jquery, php and more.

I think you would be better off trying to find lessons/guides for specific programming languages your website is built on, rather than trying to learn everything at the same time.

As for APIs - the same thing - there are lots of good tutorials for specific APIs, but to use them you need to know some of programming languages, since all APIs are based on one or another programming language.

So, my advice - find out which languages your website is built on, what API it uses and what language that APIs is operating with (most likely it will be the same as your website platform language), then find some crash course online for that language, spend couple weeks learning it - then you should be able to do simple technical SEO changes.

These settings are surely weird, especially first one. Your main domain should be main language and the rest should be linked with hreflang. Therefore #2 and #3 would change. Also navigation links, since they are internal, don't matter if they are follow or nofollow in terms of ranking boost, however, you might be cutting off your inside pages from search engine crawlers, which could lead to indexation problems.

Ok, so, what is supposed to be happening is after you type in your non-www version, it should give you message like this (see attachment):

You entered the URL http://regexseo.com/ which redirects to http://www.regexseo.com/. Because it's likely to have more accurate metrics, we're showing data for the redirected URL instead. Click here to analyze http://regexseo.com/ instead?

If this is not happening, make sure that your non-www version 301 redirects to www. If it does, but you have made this change recently, then you just gotta wait to allow mozbot to crawl this redirect.

Hi there.

One different character is enough However, what's the point of having such titles whatsoever? Titles supposed to tell users (in SERPs) what the page is about, and if every result from your domain would say "The same thing +date", how is it useful, and how is gonna benefit your SEO?

I understand that writing unique titles can be time consuming, but isn't any SEO work?
