Totally agree, Have seen this a few times in the past. Major SEO changes, big drop in rankings for 2/3 weeks. Then rankings gradually return. @Dana: Keep us posted, im curious to see if in a few weeks time things have improved

Well- I confirmed it when a crawl came back with 12,500 errors ( all from email a friend url ) which is a no crawl page. Over the last 2 weeks we made sure our site was 100% with a revalidation again with W3C and came back 100% and google now is crawling us 2 to 3 times a week. So- I think the crawl at Moz went out and drank a bit to many cold ones.... Have a good holiday.   Chad

Good crawlers are always useful although real value depends on what aspects of a site you want to analyse and how much data there is to crawl.  Xenu is great for quick and dirty link analysis, whereas Screaming Frog, (Microsoft's IIS) SEO Toolkit and DeepCrawl all include much more detail and analysis options. Also worth noting that Screaming Frog and SEO Toolkit run from your local machine, whereas DeepCrawl is cloud based and therefore more scalable. There might be other SEO crawlers out there too but these are the ones I use most.

Thanks again Keri. It feels so good to finally have this particular issue resolved. The company has been struggling with it for more than 5 years, but until I came along (lucky them, lol!) - they had no idea what was wrong or where to even begin fixing it. I do have a follow up question I am going to post regarding how Google views this sudden massic increase in links....

Okay, just heard back from 3DCart. The old IP and new IP are both USA. That being the case, I don't think that had anything to do with my ranking drop. Hopefully it's just a natural fluctuation. Thanks Adam!

Thanks Dr. Pete! An you know what? You are absolutely right. Google has interpreted the canonical just that way and it's been in our GWT reports forever and no one could figure out where they were coming from. Thank you, thank you, thank you (in my Gomer Pyle voice, of course!) Wow, it's amazing how fixing one thing can sometimes take you down a whole nother road and fix something else at the same time. I just can't thank both you and George enough. Kudos to George on a great answer.

How does one "associate" a personal profile with a company profile?  As a contributor to that site?  What about the Betty Crocker approach, a company persona Google+ account that is run by whoever is currently staffed to do so?

In addition to http://www.testfreaks.com and http://www.reevoo.com, I did find one USA based service connected to http://PowerReviews.com that offers aggregate reviews. The were just acquired by http://www.bazaarvoice.com and can serve up aggregated reviews from numerous manufacturers for customers who are inside the Power Reviews platform. For anyone who's a smaller site trying to compete with the big dogs, this is really a great breakthrough. We would use these in addition of course to our own customer reviews, which will build gradually over time.

Thanks George! Fantastic detail and I think between your suggestions and Ben's too we are going to get further to solving this than we've ever gotten before. Perhaps we'll even solve this. That would be so great. As I mentioned, the company identified this problem 4 years before they hired me, and it's never been solved. I feel like part of why I am there as there SEO strategist is to pound away at these problems until they're fixed. Thanks so much to you both. I can't wait to go in on Monday morning and use these suggestions to solve a five year old problem! Awesome. I'll let you know what happens. If we fix it, I owe you and Ben dinner! Trying to get to a good solution for what I was wanting has inspired me to write a complete blog post on everything we are working to accomplish with our Video SEO. After search high and low, I did find exactly what I was looking for. It is a tool called "CaptionBox."  There is a WordPress plug-in available. Information on the page explains that it's a legacy product, but we are going to install it anyway. For more information on SpeakerText's answer to my question as to whether or not we could still use their product despite not being an Enterprise customer, stay tuned for a blog post within the next 3-4 days.

Host your videos on a third party host (Wistia, Vimeo Pro) and embed on your site with a crawlable player - most prefer html5 player to get your videos on the SERPs and refer back to your site. Do not publish videos on Youtube or Vimeo if you want the video to go back to your site - it will be self-cannibalization. Also once the videos are on your site, create a video XML sitemap and submit through GWT. As far as having a link in the embed code of your videos, I believe Wistia's Embed Builder will help you create an iframe that can do just that. Yes, That is the best thing you can do. Because seems there have some other issues in configs. And we can not see from here about your all the configs. Anyway the codes we have given you will successfully work once you solve your other problems. Best Regards Prasad
