This topic has been debated for a long time. In general NoFollows will not help you rank in the Search Engines. However, the second hand exposure for link opportunities is quite high, the page has had quite a lot of social shares and is on an authoritative site.

RE: What are the best sources for finding competitor PPC spending by category?
SEMRush is a good source I use; it will show you the sites estimated expense for PPC spend. I don't know if it can show you how much your competition spends based on category. I have never tried to figure this out with their tool. Hope this helps.

RE: Noindex term for pages
Yes, If you add the noindex meta tag to the page it will not be index the next time Google crawls and re-indexs the page.

RE: Questions about Adwords Display network.
Geoff is correct; Adwords analyzes your ad group's keyword list when matching your keyword-targeted ads to the display network, thus no Keyword QS for Display. You will want to make sure that your keywords that you are using for Display are very related to each other and you are only using about 5 - 15 keywords per ad group, this will help to make sure your ads are appearing on relevant sites. If you are new to PPC I would highly recommend David Szetela book PPC an hour a Day. http://www.amazon.com/Pay-Click-Search-Engine-Marketing/dp/0470488670
This will walk you through all the current best strategies from the basics of setting up campaigns to more aggressive bid strategies. He also has another book that focus just on the best practices for Display advertising: http://www.amazon.com/Customers-Now-Profiting-Content-Based-Advertising/dp/1440170991/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1264017599&sr=8-2
These are some great resources to have in your toolbox to refer back to when you run into questions.
Good Luck

RE: Facebook eCommerce Strategy - I Don't Like Not Knowing What to Like!
Facebook Likes help, but "shares" are where you get SEO value. So, you might consider making sure your product pages have a facebook & twitter share button. This will increase your SEO and Brand awareness, food for thought.
here is a link the Rands Webinar on the future of link building: http://www.seomoz.org/webinars/future-of-link-building
Rand goes into greater detail on the value of facebook shares in this Webinar.

RE: Best way to avoid duplicate content issues here.
You can always take screen shots of the sections your are referring to in the PDF, then post the images in your post. Search engines can't read images, so you wont have to worry about duplicate content.

Great Resource Vince, tks for posting.

RE: Reciprocal link finder tool - not looking to do reciprocal links.
I would use Open Site Explorer (OSE) or Yahoo Site Explorer to find all the links to the site. Yahoo Site Explorer usually will list more links to your site than OSE. Sometimes Google Webmaster tools doesn't show all the links to your site, that is usually why I end up using OSE or Yahoo Site Explorer.

RE: How do Google calculate spaces between keywords
In general for a root domain I wouldn't use more than one hyphen. The more hyphens you use the more spammer your domain looks to Google & to users. Plus the more hyphens you have the less likely people will remember it, which will hurt your branding. So if I had to pick between number 1 or 2, I would go with number 1.

RE: Why Does This Website Rank?
Being able to do a competitive analysis is absolutely crucial for a SEO, so with that said I rather point you in the right direction and let you dig into it than just give you some answers. Post back what you find and we will give you feedback on your findings.
When doing a competitive analysis you want to look at two things off page SEO and on page SEO you will want to know all the big ranking factors for them both. I personally like to start with analyzing off page first because in my experience this is the biggest contributor to high rankings. Use SEOmoz's keyword difficulty tool to analyze the results for the phrase and start digging into it. Here is a link to the keyword difficulty tool with your search phrase in it. I know this is probably not the answer you want, but I feel like this will benefit you more in the long run than just a quick answer.

RE: What is Responsible for All My "Direct" Traffic?
I would double check and make sure that all your campaigns: Email, Bing/other networks PPC & Retargeting ads etc. All have Google's utm parameters setup on them. These are all areas that webmasters tend to overlook. The PPC ads tend to still be listed under organic search, but you can't segment out the paid or non-paid Bing (other network PPC) traffic without the tracking installed. Here is a great blog post that Avinash wrote on tracking direct traffic correctly. I would start here and make sure you have everything setup correctly before looking for other nuances. http://www.kaushik.net/avinash/2010/09/excellent-web-analytics-tip-analyze-direct-traffic.html

RE: Why aren't links to my site showing up in open site explorer?
Open site explorer (OSE) is updated once a month so there is some lag in between updates. However, I found a good chunk of links to your site on yahoo site explorer. https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/search?p=www.thesquarefoot.com&fr=sfp
Yahoo site explorer is a good resource, you just dont get as much link data as you do with OSE.
hope this helps
