Can a Find Us Link suffice as the NAP in footer of site?
Hi Again:) As Donna has said, the lack of footer NAP could have a a negative SEO impact, but if this argument does not sway the customer, I would totally set it to one side and explain to the business owner that customers are entering their website on a variety of pages (not just the homepage) and having the complete contact information on every page of the site definitely increases the chances of phones ringing. Why make the customer click extra links and hunt around for a phone number or address? Give it to them right away! Making it as easy as possible for the customer should increase conversions and that is language any business owner can understand.

Blocking Reviews by Blocking Words?
I believe that for Facebook and Twitter you can only block profanity. I agree, it is a terrible thing to have to fight negativity on SM. Some people would say try to fight the negative reviews by offering free stuff or simply publicly apologizing. I would say remove the negative comments if possible. I don't think you can remove the reviews though. The example I kind of live by is the BBB. No matter how many negative complaints you get, you can keep a good reputation and rating by resolving the problems. If the in house customer service team can't fix the issues, and they don't make it to the boss except through Social Media, maybe this will be the eye opener to get things progressing.

How to fix duplicate content caused by tags?
SEMrush got back to me, and it was a bug. But glad to know that I was checking all the right things. It's good to get confirmation from another SEO that I was doing this correctly. Thanks

PO Box for a Local Client
Hi Courtney, Yes, that's correct. The process is outlined in the Google Places Quality Guidelines (see: https://support.google.com/places/answer/107528?hl=en). If you're not familiar with these, they are the main starting point for understanding Local SEO, as Google sees it. Google's guidelines regarding this are as follows: Businesses that operate in a service area should create one listing for the central office or location and designate service areas. If you wish to display your complete business address while setting your service area(s), your business location should be staffed and able to receive customers during its stated hours. Google will determine how best to display your business address based on your inputs as well as inputs from other sources. Learn how to add service areas to your listing. If you don't conduct face-to-face business at your location, you must select "Yes, this business serves customers at their locations" under the "Service Areas and Location Settings" section of your dashboard, and then select the "Do not show my business address on my Maps listing" option. Hope this helps clarify your client's options. Additionally, if you're just getting your feet wet with Local SEO, please take advantage of the super free education offered in our new Moz Local Learning Center: http://moz.com/learn/local

Build a Directory
I'd second your recommendation for Appthemes' Vantage. I've used it before with a client and it's a great theme. The developers are pretty responsive (if you'll pardon the pun) to questions as well.

What's the deal with Yext?
Hi Courtney, I support the sound conclusion you've reached. As the marketer on the project, hands-on nearly always beats automation. Whitespark's service is terrific and if you're using that and hand building citations for your clients, they have an edge over other companies who have taken the automated route, simply because someone (read: you) has maximum control over their citation profile. Great responses on this thread.

Advice on how to handle Guest Blogging between multiple brands
As I understand authorship, the goal of google launching it is to identify authors who are popular and authoritative. The person who produces great content has the best opportunity to benefit from authorship, and his/her clients will benefit at the same time. At present, google might not be using it to rank pages in the SERPs, however, it is very likely that they will use it in the future. A person who is producing utility content might receive very little benefit, or even dilute the value of his/her best content. So, what I am doing is claiming authorship of the premium material that I produce (that being defined as a page of content that is one of the best on the web for its topic) and not claiming it on utility writing. Part of authorship is claiming YOUR brand. If you produce great content then people who search frequently in the topic areas where you produce content will see your photo beside your content in the SERPs. That can build a tribe of people who like your work and might earn you higher CTR over time. This will benefit you on all future author-claimed work. It can also benefit your clients - which can make you a more valuable author - especially if authorship becomes an important factor in ranking webpages.

Can you use multiple keywords for on page for ranking?
One of the ways that we have created new pages is by building a landing page system, where we did have separate pages that targeted each of the groups of consumers that we wanted to use. We created these pages at domains that were not on our main website, allowing us to target our home web page to all of those consumers and draw users in by targeting them specifically with the landing page. If you would like to hear more about our system check out the blog post we wrote about it at https://www.jtechcommunications.com/blog/blog-detail-11

What are "stop" words in Title Tags?
Courtney, I agree with Bradley. You and your client shouldn't worry about it too much. Write the Title to be the best for your searcher to help provide the best explanation for what that specific page consists of. This will also be to Google's liking, especially with the Hummingbird update to show relevance and human readability. Avoiding stop words can be considered an older SEO tactic, much like placing your brand name at the end of the Title. We now see Google taking the brand names, if placed at the end of the Title, and moving them to the beginning of the Title at their discretion. Also, educate your client on other SEO focused articles and checklists rather than GoDaddy. GoDaddy's SEO content and advice is sub-par at best compared to the plethora of content out there for SEO best practices for proper optimization. Hope this was helpful! - Patrick

How to fix duplicate content errors with Go Daddy Site
Does your friend have FTP access? If he/she does, then put a 301 redirect from the one you want to rank to the other. Having a site with "www" and without is actually having 2 pages with the same content, something you can easily fix by redirecting the entire domain to the other with a 301 response. If he/she does have FTP access, look for the .htaccess file and put the following: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !=businessname.com [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://businessname.com/$1 [R=301,L] Remember to change "businessname.com" with the actual domain name. Hope that helps!

Never heard of it either (I will take a look). I typically use the Google Keyword Tool and believe it is the best.

Wordpress and Redirects?
Access .htaccess via Cpanel > File Manager (select view hidden files) or use and FTP program. Don;t rely on yoast. Not everyone uses Wordpress or yoast. Also Yoast can break with wp updates.

Rel Can notice issue on my SEOMoz reporting
Notices are exactly what they are. They confused me a bit off the bat too since they are on the same page as warnings and errors. But they are just what they are notices. For example if you had no idea that your site was rebuilt, you would appreciate the notices for rel can, to let you know whats going on. But again these are not errors or warnings Hope this helps!

Best Moz article on landing pages?
Hi Courtney, Reading your question, I'm not quite sure if you are talking about are microsites and doorway pages, or landing pages that target different geographical intent. (I'll assume the later) It's fine if your client wants to target different geographical areas with specific content. The best practice for this type of thing usually involves: Make sure the content lives on your domain (don't create a bunch of microsites) Make the content unique and valuable to the specific area you are targeting Don't publish the same content just with slightly modifies words (best plumber Houston, best plumber Atlanta, etc) all over the web If your client wants to publish the same content in different places - ask him/her what they hope to accomplish. Not only does this create duplicate content, but it really doesn't add any value for the end user. Sounds like your instinct are correct. I don't have a list of articles that act as "proof" that you can show your client, but this article on microsites still holds up pretty well http://moz.com/blog/understanding-root-domains-subdomains-vs-subfolders-microsites And the dangers of duplicate content: http://moz.com/blog/duplicate-content-in-a-post-panda-world Hope this helps! Best of luck.
