Why isn't our structured markup showing in search results
Hi As Dennis confirmed, the 2nd link is showing the rich snippets. Try not to rely on the site: operator, and instead (first choice), query Google specifically where your result should appear first naturally, in your target country. For example, https://www.google.com/search?site=&source=hp&q=IT+and+Management+Training+Alpharetta%2C+GA+&gl=us yields the desired result:http://screencast.com/t/szChNsHMjS42 Alternatively, you can always try the info: operator which is usually more reliable. Your first result is a bit more confusing to explain, http://screencast.com/t/nY3u6eCdeIfV. You have 2 results appearing for the exact page title query, and that might be the reason why you aren't seeing it (at least in this example): https://www.google.com/search?gl=us&q=Java%2C+Perl+and+Python+Programming+Training+&gl=us Just as David-Kley said above, you've implemented the microdata correctly and it's really up to Google as to whether the query deserves rich snippets or not. On the up side, you are getting quite a few rich snippets, so just look around https://www.google.com/search?gl=us&q=Perl++Programming+Training&gl=us Thanks, Dave

What is 508 compliance and how do I ensure it gets done?
Hi Pedram, It looks like 508 compliance is legislation in the US referring only to federal agencies and their information technology properties, so unless you are building for a federal agency, this won't be something you need to worry about. Looking at your profile, it looks like your company supplies government clients but isn't a federal agency, is this right? (I was looking at this page http://www.learningtree.com/government/.) If you are building for a federal body, the act refers mainly to accessibility issues and is part of the Rehabilitation Act (not the Americans with Disabilities Act as might be assumed). Sorry to link to Wikipedia, but information on the full act (with links to 508) is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rehabilitation_Act_of_1973 Hope this helps! Perhaps check with an internal person at Learning Tree who knows about compliance issues relating to your government work, but I do not see where contractors to government agencies are included in this. I could be wrong though.

How Do You Remove the "Google Site Stats" Tag from a Conversion Page
Displaying "Site Stats logo" is optional since ages ( http://adwords.blogspot.hu/2008/09/conversion-tracking-site-stats-logo-is.html ). You can modify the "Tracking Indicator" setting of the existing conversion to "Don't add a notification to the code generated for my page." and generate a new tracking code. The only difference will be in the following line, this way you can change all your conversion codes in bulk: var google_conversion_format = "2"; // WITH Site Stats logo var google_conversion_format = "3"; // WITHOUT Site Stats logo Hope this helps, feel free to ask.

Should We Add the W3.org Language Tag To Every Page Or Just The Home Page?
Google doesn't care the W3.org language tag (Bing does it, instead). Said that using it on every page is a good practice for W3.org, hence do that. For Google, if the site is using a Country Code Top Level Name (i.e.: .it, .fr, .de...), then the site will be automatically target the country related to the domain termination (i.e.: .de > Germany and just Germany, not Austria or any other German speaking country). If the site is under a generic domain name (i.e.: .com), then you have to specify in the Google Webmaster Tools setting of the site what country (hence regional Google) you want the site itself to target. NOTE: if you are targeting language and not countries, don't use ccTld domain names, because, as I said before, those domain names targets only the country the domain termination is paired to. Then... use the hreflang="x" markup so to suggest to Google what URL must be shown to the user depending on the language they use (check this official Google page). Finally, do a great localization of the content and try to obtain authoritative quality signals like links from local sites and social shares from local users.

Schema.org Microdata or Microformats - Which Should We Use
i think the case can be made for any of the three main formats. all have their pros & cons, but Google recommends schema.org microdata https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/99170?hl=en structured data offers search engines more information about the site. more information they can use to evaluate the relevancy of your site to a query as well as the depth of content for a richer snippet. as far as it negatively affecting SEO, i would say take the same precautions as you would with any other tactic. implement it as cleanly & honestly as possible. if it's done with (perceived) manipulation for the sole purpose of better rankings it can negatively affect the a website's SEO. but that's just a good rule of thumb regardless of the tactic.

Tools for Monitoring Hundreds to Thousands of Keywords and Rankings
I'd just use Webmaster tools for something like this. you can export the spreadsheet and if you don't have a keyword listed, you're either not ranking anywhere that matters or there is no traffic the that KW anyways.

Looking for a Way to Standardize Content for Thousands of Pages w/o Getting Duplicate Content Penalties
Having duplicate content isn't an issue, so much as having enough unique content for each page to be seen as valuable on their own. A single template paragraph probably isn't enough, but if you can include other information such as address, driving directions, phone number, photos of the facility, class sizes, school hours, etc. that should be enough unique content for each location. You can even make the schedule an image or iframe if the duplicate content issue is a concern. Or if the schedule is identical for every location anyway, create a single schedule page, and link to it from each of the locations.

Anyone Else Frustrated with the new Keyword Planner
I was doing keyword research earlier today and now see the replaced landing page. This tool is garbage for SEO and more tailored for SEM. The search volume for some terms are remarkably inaccurate. I really hope they start fine tuning this tool because it is definitely that great.

Best Way to Optimize 38 Local Directory Listing In Major Directories
This is probably too late to help, but here goes... We actually had this exact same issue with a client. Ideally we would use a toll free number for all locations. These locations do interact with customers, but it is not the preferred method for new customers to contact us. (about 30% of transactions occur with the local location and 70% happen online, or with the call center) In the end we sent in all the information ourselves but had each location verify by having a postcard sent to them. This was a huge pain. We had to contact each location manager as the post card was sent and have them make sure every employee who might touch the mail was aware that the postcard was coming. I believe it was worth it. Everything is managed from the corporate office as well. But we had to make sure everything was verified properly. We are also a little wary of messing with anything Google has set up because we didn't want to have to go back and undo, then redo everything we set up. I do have a follow up question for you, and anyone else who cares to chime in. Do you think there is value in having social media pages for every location? Just managing the corporate social media pages requires staff. To manage for 45 locations seems like an overwhelming task. However, if the value is really there, it is something we would have interest in exploring. Best, Joe

Page not being indexed or crawled and no idea why!
Hi Mike, Thanks for the reply. I'm out of the country right now, so reply might be somewhat slow. Yes, we have links to the pages on our sitemaps and I have done fetch requests. I did a check now and it seems that the niched "New York" page is being crawled now. Might have been a time issue as you suggested. But, our DC page still isn't being crawled. I'll check up on it periodically and see the progress. I really appreciate your suggestions - it's already helping. Thank you!

Sudden Drop in Keyword Ranking - No Idea Why
Dana, Thanks so much for your reply. Yes, it did drop out of place recently. Just this week I believe it dropped. Also, it hit page one just 2-3 weeks ago, then boom gone. Across the board, our rankings for other relevant keywords are pretty solid (I say relevant because management does want to monitor our rankings for super broad keywords that have low chance of ranking). I haven't seen any major drops in traffic or ranking as I've been monitoring. Over the past few months, in fact, I've seen natural search traffic increase as the ranking for the term I'm asking about actually went up in ranks In regards to the conversion question - that's a great way to look at it. In fact I did that and noticed that conversion using that keyword actually increased 4 fold this past month. We went from conversions beginning with that keyword in January from about 1-2% of total non-branded conversions (that we can track i.e. no "not provided" conversions), to about 9% of total non-branded conversions in the month of May. So clearly it holds some weight That article does provide some useful insight. Upon brief scan, it's certainly useful. I'm bookmarking and reading in detail later! Thanks Anyone else have any input/suggestions? Dana if you have anything else to add, please do!
