My uniques have dropped around 25% since following advice here
I'd say continue contributing unique content and link building from relevant sites, and hang in there a few weeks. The changes can take time to show up, and I am glad to see that some rankings for words important to you have improved.

How can I reduce my webpage load time?
The logo actually reduces a whole lot via smush.it, so that can help a little. Have you looked at the graphic elements that came with the theme that you didn't necessarily create? Yahoo's Y!Slow extension for Firefox can also point out a lot of other areas for speeding up the site.

Www/nonwww .co.uk/.com
Just checked with the Rank Tracker and the .com domains don't appear to be ranking for any of my keywords (including domain name). Will I notice a bump in SERPs/traffic once I 301 the domain .com -> .co.uk or has google already figured that out behind the scenes?

Question about Google News Sitemap
I'm pretty sure you won't get in with just aggregated news, but can have some (though I'm thinking far less than half). This - http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/news/thread?tid=73066884b4c853e1&hl=en - suggests to only submit original content. Alternatively - http://googlenewsblog.blogspot.com/2010/11/credit-where-credit-is-due.html - says you can add the source or canonical tag to give credit back to the originating site (and likely look far more trustworthy when someone checks. I had a dig around for when I last got a site into Google News but couldn't find actual content guidelines. Here's the guidelines I could find about when making a submission: Provide a good historical background of the site Show awards the site received Give stats on the site Tell them about your editors and authors (I think you need 3 editors :s) Tell them about who links to your site Make sure you are news related or mostly news related. Make sure your site complies with the technical requirements, and show them that is does. Having author bio pages I believe is also a plus. You can always submit it and see what feedback you are given.

How can I use my unique content to my advantage?
Maybe it's time for some old fashioned shmoozing? Make some contacts with people that might blog about your articles, or refer to them, or simply tweet about them? The ablemag twitter account is very dry, so maybe inject some personality into it and build some helpful relationships? I also think it might be interesting to widen your net somewhat, so your target market is people seeking disability news, that's fine, but there are other people who may well blog about some of the things you write even if they aren't your demographic. It's an odd subject but people interested in body modification or transhumanism may well be interested in some of the things you write. Both of the following articles would serve as a starting point for some linkbait for that demographic: http://ablemagazine.co.uk/artificial-pancreas-in-pregnancy-promises-fewer-diabetes-deaths-and-abnormalities/ http://ablemagazine.co.uk/pistorius-eyes-2012-with-new-pb/ PS I PM'd you a few ideas, let me know if you didn't get it.

Can un-unique content damage my rankings?
It's probably an "it depends" answer for the ratio, and that's if we actually had access to the algorithm. In the case above, the guy was (and still is) removed from the index. Someone else may come in with studies they have done to give you more of an answer based on their experience in their niche, but there's not going to be one magic number that serves as a cutoff for every site.

Can PR0 backlinks be harmful?
I think this was more due to the bad link profile you created, not the PR numbers per se.
