Fair point. I will try and do a quick bit of keyword research later as it may be useful to get an outsiders perspective.

RE: How to target very broad, umbrella keywords on the homepage
This is a great question and something I have pondered over on several occasions.
In my opinion I would say focus on a couple of broad keywords on your homepage rather than trying to target loads of different keywords for each service you offer.
The main reason being that you want users to land on the sub folder were the content is focused around their search query as they will be more likely to convert than if they land on a generic page and have to navigate through the site to find the relevant content.

All I can do is echo Ryan's point on this one, he does a great job of summing it up.

The following might give you some inspiration from a design perspective.

Give some thought to the number of products on the page and if they are spread across multiple pages follow this advice on pagination best practice:

RE: Campaign warnings and recommendations
Writing engaging title tags that do not exceed the max length could lead to an increased click through rate. This may not have a massive impact on your rankings but it could potentially drive more traffic to your site.
Having too many links will reduce the amount of internal 'link juice' that each link will pass. if you reduce the number of links by a couple you will not see much impact but a larger cull could potentially boost the rankings of the pages you choose to focus on. The following blog may be useful to read:

With all the warning I think you need to evaluate the amount of work vs the potential impact and prioritise accordingly.

RE: Www.lavenderblue-flowers.co.uk
The sites use of the robots meta tag may be a major cause of the issue.
The below is the robots tag on the homepage. This is telling search engines to index your homepage but not follow any links to interior pages.
The below is the robots tag on a random product page. This is telling search engines to not include the page in their indexes or follow any links on the page.
With the odd exception the majority of the robots meta tags should be set to the following. This is telling search engines to index the page and follow the links on the page to interior pages.
Once you have sorted this out I would:
- Set up Google Webmaster Tools and submit a sitemap
- Attempt to build some links
Good Luck

Duplicate Content issue
I have been asked to review an old website to an identify opportunities for increasing search engine traffic.
Whilst reviewing the site I came across a strange loop. On each page there is a link to printer friendly version:
http://www.websitename.co.uk/index.php?pageid=7&printfriendly=yes
That page also has a link to a printer friendly version
http://www.websitename.co.uk/index.php?pageid=7&printfriendly=yes&printfriendly=yes
and so on and so on.......
Some of these pages are being included in Google's index.
I appreciate that this can't be a good thing, however, I am not 100% sure as to the extent to which it is a bad thing and the priority that should be given to getting it sorted.
Just wandering what views people have on the issues this may cause?
