It sounds like you have 404s redirecting to the home page. do you have any soft 404 warnings in GWMT? try entering yourdomain.com/blahblah into the address bar, where do you end up?

Too many on-page links
Dr. Pete wrote a good post about "too many links" at http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-many-links-is-too-many. It's understandable that there are times you need more than 100 links on a page. Do keep in mind that the html sitemap is not the same as an xml sitemap that you would use for the search engines, but the html sitemap is to help orient your visitors.

20000 site errors and 10000 pages crawled.
(ha, who know the endorsement was limited to 3 lines of text?) As I was saying... Every time a parameter is added to the url, such as zoom=1, it technically becomes another URL. Canoncicals for the win Best of luck!

Why are we not ranking? We have done all we can think of. Can you help?
Thanks, but even though I mentioned links for that page, Gareth really helps with his comment regarding anchor text. That was a miss for me. This is out of order: As to site map I would resubmit just to make sure, but if you have internal links to the page it will get indexed either way. Removing the .php gives you a clean url. here is a good source and I have cut and pasted as well. To remove the .php from StuntCoders Just use following snippet in order to remove “.php” extension from URL. | | ``` 1 RewriteEngine on 2 RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d 3 RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}.php -f 4 RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/$ $1.php Best of luck. ``` |

Redirect index.php to domain address
Your best bet is to do a 301 redirect on it. I would look at OSE to see which one has a higher PA and more links and redirect the other to it. Also redirect the www or the non www to a single destination.

Shortening Keywords in a title tag
I still think it's better to have exact match. The Google Adwords Keyword tool shows far more searches for office refurbishment over office refurb for exact, phrase and broad in the UK (and globally) - both with 'High' competition. Unless you're a really well known brand in your target market I don't see it as a problem if your brand is cut off at the end of the title tag on search results.

Does changing nameservers and a new site design affect SEO dramatically
Short answer - it can. The best thing to do is audit the new website in a dev environment to be sure that the new website code is correct, error free, pages do not have duplicate or canonical issues, and all on-page factor have been copied over correctly.

Landing Page/Home Page issues
EGOL says it well regarding a designer. Unfortunately, whether its websites or interiors of homes there is something about the monicker that brings out the worst in functionality. This is strictly an opinion, but most people want convenience when shopping. Whether for a product, a service, or information they do not want to have to walk around your art work to get to the peanut butter. They also do not want to have to find the mute button or skip intro button in order to proceed past your design distraction. My suggestion is skip the click to enter unless the designer can show some A-B testing where they have made miraculous strides in bounce rates. I am not sure that from a search engine pov there is an issue, from a customer usability pov there is.

Sourcing content and images for Office Interior Design Blog
For detailed information about how to create this kind of content you are probably better off looking for answers on the various blogging support sites and developing relationships with bloggers who work in this field. SEOMoz users are helpful, but there may not be many of them who blog about office interior design!

Link analysis going Crazy. Next Linkscape update. Multiple Problems
Hi Jake - All the link sources have different indices, hence you'll see different data/numbers from each. A decrease may mean that parts of what was being crawled no longer is, or it could mean that some pages are no longer active or no longer linking to you. Not sure what you're referring to with Sept. of 2011 (~9 months ago). You can read all the updates to OSE here: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/category/38 Best of luck!

Forum posting link building
I think being a genuine member of a forum can be helpful, though it can also be time consuming to become a real member of the community and participate even when you're not getting an immediate link. One helpful part of becoming a member of the community that is related to your client/site is that you get a feel for the questions that people ask, current problems in the field, and can get a lot of ideas for content and products that are needed in that field.

Open site explorer - Analysing competitors links
Hi! This is actually a known issue with OSE. With the new deeper crawl that it is doing, it's finding a lot of downloadable program files and is getting confused and saying those binary files are actually links. SEOmoz is well aware of this and working on fixing the way the crawler works. It is nothing your competitors are doing, but a problem on the moz end of things. Carin has a detailed explanation in this thread at http://www.seomoz.org/q/how-are-our-competitors-getting-these-inbound-linking-domains.

On page optimisation tool issues
Hi there, You can do what you want to do as long as the keywords are loaded in your campaign. Its just a little hidden If you go into the On-page tool you see the Summary view. If you look right above the big heading On-page Optimization, there are two blue text links. Choose Report Card. Now you will see a selector which allows you to choose any keyword from your campaign list and enter the URL of any page in the site. Click Grade my On-page Optimization and voila! Roger will fetch your Report Card! Hope that helps. Sha

Newly appointed SEO at a small company
Hi, Ryan has given a great answer there. On the subject of what you will see in the search engine result pages, it does not have to be an either/or situation. It is quite common to see multiple pages in a site appear in the same results. The most important thing is that by optimizing specific pages for keywords that are relevant to their content you have more chance that visitors will arrive on a page that gives them what they are looking for. This is much better for the user experience and likely to help with conversions. Congrats on the new job, sounds like you're a natural! Sha
