Data or Examples of a Negative Impact of Sitewide Links
In most cases, Google sees a sitewide link as just a single vote for a site. "Too many sitewide links" really wouldn't be the issue. But, "too many domains with unnatural links" could cause a problem. Here's more on John Mueller talking about how sitewide links are treated by Google: http://www.hiswebmarketing.com/are-sitewide-links-bad/

Is the Authority of Individual Pages Diluted When You Add New Pages?
Authority or No of pages or all other factors are secondary. What is more important is assessment of our goals. Why do our website exist? How rich content we are building? Are we sounding like subject matter expert? Answers for these questions are more important than one page or many page? Page rank, Page authority, Domain Authority these all are metrics as far as we are thinking about google ranking. Ultimately one page or many pages we are building website for human being. First purpose and then analysis. Reverse is not possible. SAMEER

Pros and Cons of Rel Author on Product Pages
Hi Charles, Rel=publisher is more appropriate for e-commerce product pages or for branded websites. I had to search high and low for an answer I posted to a similar question several months ago because it referenced the best (and only, as far as I know), explanation of how to properly set up Google+ and establish Google ASuthorship for a brand or e-commerce site. Here's the text of my comment including a link to the interview: "I am in-house SEO for two e-commerce site, one large, one small. Rel=publisher is the way to go both on your home page and your product pages. You are correct in that rel=author is not appropriate in these situations. Andy is correct that Google is not yet displaying brands as authors, but I believe that is going to change over time. Yes, if you mark up your pages for structured data using rel=author, the testing tool will display your brand image. It's just not displaying in Google search results yet. Recently, Chris Goward of Wider Funnel marketing interviewed Janet Driscoll Miller (President and CEO of Search Mojo) about this very topic and she had some great advice which echoes what I've said above: http://www.widerfunnel.com/events/google-and-search-engine-optimization-an-interview-with-janet-driscoll-miller I have also appealed directly to Google for some guidance with this whole issue because not even expert search engine marketers and SEOs can seem to figure out how to handle it. Hope this helps!" Dana

Can You Aggregate Likes from Pages on Your Site to Your Homepage?
Charles, what are saying in your question is correct. "Liking" a specific URL will not add those "likes" to your Facebook page's fan list and vise versa. "like" Button = a specific URL, separate from your Facebook page "like" Box = a specific Facebook page, which adds to your Facebook fan list but to the specific URL

Site Published Our Guest Post but Removed the Link Back
Hey Charles, First, I would get in touch with the website owner or whoever you submitted your guest post to and request that they add your link to the article. I would do this very respectfully, and treat it like it might have been a mistake. I wouldn't even mention that you want to the article taken down if they do not add it, since the ultimate goal is to get the link. Also, I would create the code for the link to make it easy on them. If they decide not the add the back link (bummer), then it is your call if you want to make the effort to get the article taken down. The only reason I would take the time to get the article taken down is if you have another niche website that will publish the content and will add your link. Otherwise, I would just make note of that website and never guest post for them again. I hope this works out for you. I know how much time it takes to write good guests posts, so I really hope you get the link out of it.

Does Google Bias Against Homepages for Search Queries that are a Question?
Mostly home page contains information about website itself which can't be part of "how", "why" query. In cuch query you normally see blogpost, inner page, question/answer sites, article directories etc. BTW Good observation Charles.

How Social Shares on One Page Affects Sitewide Authority
In my experience - a bit of the former and lots of the latter. i.e. the specific page generates strong authority signals and as a result the parent domain gets credit for some of that extra authority as well. How much? No idea how to measure and I suspect the amount will be different under different circumstances. (This assumes the page is actually on the primary domain and not a subdomain). I think of it like links: a strong incoming link to an internal page is especially good for that page, but also contributes to the overall site's ranking signals as well. I'd be very interested to hear what others think on this topic too! Paul

Determining When You May Have Too Many Links
Agreed with Matt. It's not about "too many" but more about too many crappy links. If you get deemed with too many shite links, chances are the rest of your good links will also get devalued. Best of luck

Limit for words on a page?
I like long pages. I have one longish article that is followed by over 500 comments which makes for a REALLY long page. The comments bring in a huge amount of long tail traffic!

Should you target non-plural if you are ranking highly for plural kw?
I would base the decision by conversion rates and/or what puts more money in your bank account. That's my answer.

Are there negative SEO implications to pages without any images?
Hi Charles, I believe it's 100% relevant to what the page is about. If for whatever reason obviously you don't believe an image would add to making the entire experience better than it may not matter however I know Google does take the way the page is constructed into account here's some more info. http://www.pandia.com/marketing101/4-tips.html hope I was of help to you. Sincerely, Thomas

Is using a customer quote on multiple pages duplicate content?
The customer quote/testimonial would be in the middle of the content. It seems like if there is enough unique content around it then it should be fine. Thanks for the help!

What if trusted sites in your niche have low authority?
Thanks Rambo I guess the difficult question to answer is whether Google will give more weight to something like a niche association website or a niche blog with higher authority. I'm guessing the blog would help more if their links are quality. A lot of associations don't attract that many links it seems (maybe an opportunity for SEOs to help out). Best, Charles

Trading longer load time for greater link potential
I put everything that I have into the page. Six nice photos, two videos, a couple of charts and 3000 words - plus ads. Be sure that you optimize the photos and have a good server with caching.

When criteria do you use for external linking?
I link out to other sources frequently too - I work on this principle - will linking to another site enrich this information for the person reading it. Linking to others sites when appropriate is only natural for building a great online resource, which I think is what we all want, that is why we spend time creating great content and marketing our sites online, working on optimization strategies etc. Whether you are selling products, services or blogging creating a site that is a rich resource with great content should always be your aim as this will lead to increases in all aspects, so don't be afraid to add links to other sites if you think it would help the visitor to your site - a website with a link profile that does this looks the most natural..

Are you careful about linking back to sites that link to you?
Thanks for the input. In one Mozinar, Rand suggests that it is good practice to link to sites that link to you (naturally) because it helps Google index the page that linked to you which is not something I've heard before but makes pretty good sense.

What are some of the negative effects of having duplicate content from other sites?
I republish article content from other websites. This is always done with permission and often the other sites ask me to do it because they have a message that they want to place in front of my visitors. I value this content because my visitors consume it. Unfortunately these pages do not perform well in search even though I optimize them so that they do not directly compete for the same keywords as the origins. Why? There are usually several other sites with the same content. And they compete with each other in the SERPs and share the search traffic. I incur labor costs in posting the content and acquiring nice images to make it look good on my site. Sometimes these are not fully recovered because of their reduced traffic. Also, these pages have a linkjuice flow into them that might be more valuable if sent to other pages. I view these as costs to serve my visitors and the industry niche of my site. One other risk is the duplicate content. Perhaps updates like the Panda update would reduce rankings of sites that contain lots of duplicate content. I have not seen that yet in my niche. The quality of the content is some of the highest on the web and the sites that republish it are almost all authoritative.
