Our hosting provider have their IP address range in Melbourne but offers servers in Sydney or Melbourne.. If we were to take a server in Sydney and an IP address from their Melbourne range (only IP range offered) will the new localisation updates to the Penguin/Possum Algorithms serve less up to our clients in Sydney thinking we are located in Melbourne?

I'll suggest this as an option - the reason not to do rel can's is because we want to index organically on Google for both brands..

Thanks for the reply. We have 2 brands that we have to run (coming from executive team - merger agreementt). Unfortunately both brands have been aligned to have exactly the same products. There are 2 niches (ie personas) but the products are exactly the same, with the same Product descriptions and same terms and conditions, rates and imagery.

Hi All,
I would love if someone could help and provide some insights on this. We're a financial institution and have a set of products that we offer.
We have recently joined with another brand and will now be offering all our products to their customers.
What we are looking to do is have 1 site that masks the content for both sites so it appears as there are 2 seperate brands with different content - in fact we have a main site and then a sister brand that offers the same products.
Is there anyway to do this so when someone searches for Credit Card from Brand A it is indexed under Brand A and same when someone searched for Credit Card from Brand B it is indexed under Brand B.
The one thing is we would not want to rel:can the pages nor be penalised by googles latest PR algorithm.

I hope someone can assist, We have 2 brands that sell the exact same products. We have a main and an off brand. We just redeveloped the main brands site and now have to do the off brand (was owned by another company and we acquired them, we then changed their products to match ours).
Am I able to pretty much clone the site and just change the branding and rel canonical each page to its original on the main brand? Granted I will lose rankings but will it be something that will affect anything else?
I want to do this so it saves us time in updating products on both sites (and avoids errors in incorrect pricing).
Would appreciate some guidance with this one

Hi All,
We have 2 brands (1 main 1 product as a satellite domain) that we're merging into our main brand. When doing a 301 redirect - should we redirect everypage of the product satellite to the new site or is 1 main redirect fine?

Just of course there will be other pages like air-jordan.com/order-now . Should i do a rel can from air-jordan.com/order-now to www.nike.com/air-jordan/order-now ?
Or is simply a 301 from www.airjordan.com to www.nike.com/air-jordan sufficient?

Google has picked up a competitors logo from overseas (same name) and input it with the wikipedia excerpt on the right hand side of search.

My thoughts exactly - as long as they haven't found out something new about the meta , its all good.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. I just stumbled upon one of our competitors who for some reason is all of a sudden defining meta keywords for their product pages.
I find this extremely strange since its a definite no-no to define these?
They are one of the largest (Chase, Barclays equivalent) in Australia with a large digital team. Do they know something we don't?

Would you structure the page titles like:
New Car Loan | Brand Name
or
New Car Loan - Brand Name
Personally I like the first , but just want to make sure there's no disadvantage from an SEO perspective.
