RE: Is my site penalized by Google?
Hey AJLabs!
For starters (if you haven't already), try using the "site:" command in Google.
Example, instead of just searching for "aaaaa" or "aaaaa.com", type "site:aaaaa.com" into Google and see what it yields. This will tell you whether or not you've been completely removed from their index or not. But being that you are seeing clicks in WMT and when you type your brand in you find yourself, I don't think you've been penalized. Would there be any reason you can think of that you'd have been issued a penalty? Sorry for the edits. I always rethink my answers after the fact haa
Hope this helps!

RE: Not provided....
Hey paddyaran
I agree and am sure I can speak for the majority of us that the "not provided" struggle is REAL! I was reading a recent article from SEL (from Greg Gifford) called "One Positive Pigeon Result: We Can Finally Ditch Ranking Reports" and got some great tips from it.
After reading your question I thought that you may benefit from it (if you haven't already read it). Not necessarily the basis of the article since it talks specifically about "Rank reporting for clients". If you read down to #2 (Organic Landing Pages) & #3 (Organic Conversion Sources), I think this could be very helpful for you.
Give it a read!

RE: Clicks versus Conversions
Hi Brett,
Had the same issue and then we started using A/B testing to maximize performance, we've already increased conversions by 500%..
You can use: www.visualwebsiteoptimizer.com to do A/B testing.
Hope this helps.

RE: Moz Messenger issue
I am still having the same issue as well. Definitely shoot them over an email and see what happens. I will do the same. Hopefully they are already looking into it for us. I will keep you posted if they get back to me on it.

RE: Is this (title) keyword stuffing?
I agree with Justin and Bruce! Being that the brand name is Wick Video, I dont find this to be kw stuffing in any way.

RE: How to find average organic traffic growth rate for ecommerce startup?
"Google trends" should give you an idea of what people are searching for and if the terms are moving up/down etc...
If you want to know volumes of terms searched within Google you can use "Google adwords keyword tool".

RE: Moz Local - Needed for good measure?
Hey Sarah!!
I am not 100% on Moz Local since it came out right after we got set up as a Yext Partner (although I am CERTAIN Moz Local is a top level product), but I can tell you this... Yext just released a duplicate listing suppressor feature in their system.
Have you looked into Yext at all before getting started with Moz Local?
NOTE: I'm not trying to get slammed by the Moz gods or anything or promote a competitors service by this comment, I'm just trying to help you and give feedback based on OUR experience with Yext. Please be gentle with me. Im fragile

RE: Hosting and SEO
Nice! Glad to be of help
A few things I want to mention...- Using a shared hosting environment presents issues for your site that you may not realize are there. Example: The other sites on the server may not be doing "wrong" today, but if they begin doing "wrong" somewhere down the line it could ultimately effect the IP of the server. Trickling down and potentially harming your site at the end of the day.
"If you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas" - I would highly suggest a dedicated environment. This keeps you in a controlled environment and allows you to focus on the more important things.
- A server is just like a computer. When we buy it and it is brand new it works VERY fast and everything is awesome! As time progresses and we begin filling up the hard drive, the computer begins to slow down. Keep this same thought process with the server that is hosting your website. You want the hard drive on the server that hosts your website to be as free as possible, thus keeping your site running optimal.
A CDN is great to use is you are hosting heavy content like videos, large/several images, etc. We've used www.maxcdn.com in the past for certain projects and it was fairly easy to implement and use.

RE: Does the position of your main keyword phrase matter within the page?
I agree, Donald. And to answer your question, yes, it most certainly matters.
So, your new navigation is pushing your page content below the fold? Is that correct Catherine?

RE: .net or .co ?
Hey TLR711!!
Oh man that's unfortunate that he is just sitting on it like that. But what can you do?
I would go with the .net as it is a TLD.

RE: Moz Local - Needed for good measure?
Hmm... yeah I can see how it could get a bit pricey having 70 locations!!!
From the looks of it, the Moz Local tool does "Find duplicate Listings" but to play it safe, you should drop them a line and ask what they suggest. Im sure they would be willing to help clarify how to carry out your scenario.
http://moz.com/help/guides/local
At the bottom of their Moz Local page, I saw this. May be the best bet for you!
Good luck!Do you have hundreds of locations, and need help getting started?

RE: Yoast seo title question
Ahh I see! Yeah each of them have their ups and downs. In my experience I've come to the conclusion that AIO does things in a much cleaner fashion. And for us it just works better. Nothing bad or wrong with Yoast, I guess it is simply a preference thing.
I don't believe you can disable specific features in Yoast but if anyone else has experience with that, please feel free to chime in. Inquiring minds would like to know

RE: Change the homepage text entirely
I agree with Donna. Just rip the bandaid off and do it all in one shot!

RE: Crawl Diagnostics Summary - Duplicate Content
You need to add a canonical tags to let search engines know that the content is almost identical.

RE: 301 issues
Hey! Yeah it appears you are caught up in the Google waiting game.
From my experience with a similar project it will correct itself here in the coming weeks I'm sure. Follow Vic's suggestions and you should be all set! Cheers and good luck!

RE: How to write an optimal h1?
Hey SEOhanna
Great question! I would go into detail about this but feel that my man Neil Patel already did an outstanding job in his article, so I wouldn't dare try to take credit.
Hopefully this helps if you haven't read it already! Best of luck!

RE: SEO for Facebook's search bar?
Hey Taylor!
From what I know the best way to ensure your page shows up at the top when searched in Facebook is as follows:
-
Make sure your Brand name and FB URL match
-
Confirm you have the proper category set for your Page
-
Have a completed profile with thorough details about your business. *The About section plays a key role in FB search queries
-
Content, Content, Content (create and share high quality content with your audience)
-
Engage and interact with your audience
I know these sound basic but sometimes as marketers we get so wrapped up in everything else that we overlook them and end up scratching our heads...
Hope this helps!
