Can you show me code your using for local schema?

if you are using Microdata it is most likely something modifying the code and making the white space.

One thing you can do is switch to JSON-LD it is faster and much easier to deploy. You can also use this tool to re-create your schema and check it with Google Webmaster tools in either format.

301 Redirects are in place verify that by using a tool like this one.  you can drop all the URLs you want to check in here. https://httpstatus.io/

Then make sure any HTTP is a 301 and any HTTPS is a 200

Then  run a search and replace

I too have seen many clients, unfortunately.

They are targeted by competitors (most likely) sending both fake links for instance in one case a client has a travel site many of the backlinks that were clearly targeted to hurt the site, for instance, the competition / spammers would use the name of an authoritative travel site all they would do is change the TLD so example.com becomes example.co,  even though they were tracking their backlinks they were simply looking at the URLs, not the authority of the URL or domain sadly, this is spam, was not detected immediately by the client until they were hit with a manual penalty.

That is when I was brought on and ran a check using Link Research Tools, Ahrefs, Majestic & Moz OSE. Checking for hacks  sitecheck.sucuri.net is great & https://sucuri.net/website-security-platform/ to clean and protect.

The worse thing in their case they were not getting a lot of the clear spam that as Joe states above Google does not think anybody is crazy enough to include help their site. mainly Viagra/pornography URLs which I agree with him take Google devalues quickly however you should disavow them. in my experience, Viagra-style spam attacks are the work of a combination of both competitors & black hat SEO spam/hacks in the form of Link injection on hack's, database hack's, content injections and BlackHat SEO that spread the pornography URLs. Like if you look Fiverr at https://www.fiverr.com/gopo2k/provide-you-1-unregistered-domain-for-pbn-with-link-from-nytimes

In cases where the site is seemingly hit over and over again or use a tool like deepcrawl.com or screamingfrog.co.uk/seo-spider and find out that your database is full of URLs that have been created to spread for promote the spammers site. I always suggest using a web application firewall incapsula.com or sucuri.net ( CloudFare is really not as good until you hit the Pro plan)

First off I am extremely sorry to hear that you're the victim of negative SEO it is unbelievably frustrating and needs to be dealt with in a very methodical manner.

I do not believe the disavowed tool is what's hurting you. It  much more likely there is still something in your site that is allowing this hack to continue no matter what you have to do monitor the site make sure it is not carrying any malware.

Did you have a backup of the site? After the the with a spam hack?

The fact that the attack was detected by Google and you had a manual penalty is extremely unfortunate.

Because most businesses are obviously smart enough not to direct pornography and other spam URLs to their site many times Google must reevaluate the site taking into consideration that this happened and no one was there to catch it.

I literally got done with a disavowal on a site that had been penalized manually and it surprisingly went up very quickly in the rankings. Once the bad URLs were deleted. I have to stress in this case bad back links had almost no authority.

I honestly feel that you are getting a lot of juice from the bad back links and by disavowing them something you had to do obviously you have lost the juice the site had before.

I would recommend doing link disavows I know that does not sound fun. What are you planning to do about the 1-2000 more how many more are accumulating every day?

I would honestly need to know a lot more about your site to tell you the best step forward but one thing I can tell you is you need to figure out if you are deleting content that had regular links to it and are destroying website because somebody did a content injection and wrote over content that was already on your website.

Let me know if you're willing to share your domain with me via private message or hear I would be happy to take a look without understanding if the site is still hacked you can do some things like check using  https://sitecheck.sucuri.net to see if there is any blatant malware still on the site.

I would start there and I would add a WAF companies like Sucuri & incapsula are lifesavers when it comes to keeping this type of attack from happening.

Make sure your CMS is up-to-date if you're using one.

I hope this helps I do not think it is the disavowed tool if these are new links but that would depend on how long you have been keeping track of your links all that would need to be checked.

Yes it can  if you want a simple solution use a managed WordPress hosting provider like Pressidium, Pagely, Kinsta, Presslabs, Pantheon, WP Engine get Flywheel.

Not to try to promote anything but if you host with Performance Foundry. You get put on a Pagely VPS for less than Pagely ($100) but  they go even farther than managed WordPress hosting companies and tuneup your site and do Developer work just for the price of posting. Yes I would recommend moving to https over  the curent http it will be very unlikely that you have an issue with google and  The end-users will feel much more secure.

If you are doing this on a bespoke site ( not very common CMS or made by hand)

I know tools like  letsencrypt.com give you a free certificate so will CloudFlare.com  so if you're trying to have HTTP/2 , HSTS, forced https & a cert you can use for free version and it will do everything you need for https cost  (free-$5,000) (any reverse proxy CDN or WAF) stackpath.com ($20)  incapsula.com ($59) sucuri.net WAF ($19) Armor.com ($600-7,000) WAF only (under $200) Speedyrails.com has always had deals on cloudflare (35-40% off) if you're going to use it.

if you use a EV cert or just want to have a regular certificate I strongly recommend looking at third-party sites you can save a lot of money.

I like  DigiCert and GlobalSign  personal most of the others are on the Symantec what was VERISIGN you can definitely get away with getting one for $5-100 on namecheap  but remember to search for the best price on Google.

They tend to make the job a lot easier and  my personal opinion is that every person should actually do have WAF for their sites they like.

You are going to definitely need HTTPS on your site browsers are already making websites that do not have https look insecure I would change over ASAP.

If you perform it correctly with the proper 301 redirects and update Google search console you will not suffer for more than a week max I have never seen ranking a drop personally out of over 20 sites but I have heard of some it is extremely unlikely that it will occur now.

If the background of the site is white and you made the H1 White you are doing something black hat rather your intentions are good or not in the eyes of Google.

I'm not saying you're trying to do something wrong if the client does not want to use the H1 tag what are they using for a title? You can still combine the two if you must is much better than making it essentially clear text which is what Google will think the white text is if the background is white.

you have to tell your client the H1 tag is extremely important and they need to introduce the page with the H1 tag displayed to the end-user.
