in my opinion they are way too long. you are being somewhat  spammy by repeating words over and over. For instance wedding is said very many times sows the word dress and bridal.

I would look into rewriting your URLs. Read the should I change my URLs for SEO link at the top.

If the URLs are older and ranking extremely well I would leave them alone but only if there ranking where you want them to be.

Hi Mozers,

I have used SEOmoz for a long time and absolutely love the whole community and software.

My question is really something I feel should be discussed. The reason for that is because many of you I think will understand what I'm talking about many times I will give a answer maybe being only one I am then told by the person asking thank you I appreciate a great job. Or they will just mark the page with a simple answered

Please do not think I am complaining. I just want to know if what I am saying is however one else feels 1st off?

If it is something that you guys think there is a better method to letting maybe the people that are unaware or new to the community understand that it is the right thing to award good answers and thumbs up. Please to not think I am blaming anyone at all for this it's not the person who does not award points fault I understand that and do not blame them at all. I feel there is a better way to let them know and they would be more than happy to do it. In fact I'm sure I'm guilty of the same thing when I frist joined.

I did not want to bring this up in a question when somebody leaves a good answer and look like the guy asking for points or look like a guy telling them to give another person points I just want the system to work as it should.

My 1st thought is possibly when there reading the question have something right below the box in a very conspicuous color let them know the rules. I'm not saying I have the answer or that is the best answer I'm asking you guys fellow Mozers to please think of your own ways and post them here or say you know what Tom I have not had to deal with that so it seems strange to me maybe you're the only one. If that is the case I am more than sorry for wasting people's time.

I sincerely appreciate everyone who takes a moment to take part in this. I feel it gives people more incentive to give answers. I know this community is the best SEO community on the web I look forward to hearing all your excellent ideas and answers.

hi I want to tell you I could not agree more with what EGOL has stated if you are not losing traffic and your conversions more importantly are staying up there regular domain fluctuation is normal and nothing to worry about unless it gets very serious.

You can utilize tools like MozCast as well as SERPS to figure out if it is just Google making minor changes that don't really affect your business or if it is something more serious. If you were to tell me you dropped down to a 25 I would be worried however as EGOL said much better than I can normal fluctuation is nothing to worry about and it is a normal thing.

lazy loading images is not as good as deferring an image. Because lazy loading images can cause issues  can cause JavaScript issues that will not cause problems if you deferred the image instead of lazy loading.

Defer images you will have a easier time the method discussed here does not hurt search engine optimization in fact it will help it because increased load speeds or what people perceive as an increased load speed always helps the end-user.

In the scenario of a one page template, there is no reason to do all the things that lazy loading does (observe, monitor and react to a scroll postion).

Why not just defer those images and have them load immediately after the page has loaded?

How to do it

You can export from the keyword tool which you can save a list of keywords under a tag or name. So if I have list-1 and list-2 I can pick relevancy and use filters to slim them down to exactly what I want but I do not believe you can add another tag in addition to the name of the list. You have to do that inside of Moz Analytics

Ok,  You are using child and parent pages? That is what is causing the /safe/safe/ you are redirecting to a forward slash "/" but they're not duplicates because their 301 redirects they're not just forwarding there actually Telling Google this is no longer the URL is the new one.

I would have to see what you're using to create redirects it most likely is a regex or plug-in setting.

1. Are you using a particular WordPress hosting company?
2. Do you have a specific plug-in that you're using to create redirects?
3. Do you create redirects by using either PHP, Apache, Nginx or Varnish?
4. How familiar are you with your database?
5. Did you do a search and replace when you moved or migrated the site?

Changing the theme can modify a lot of code. Go into Google Webmaster tools or search console

Then go to crawl errors and look for 404's obviously there are going to be some 404's when modifying themes because even if all your URLs stay the same way all your URIs will not. Either way, all your URLs will not stay the same way, and you change the theme.

1st off I think this is kind of bittersweet. I definitely understand from the questions I've asked myself that they must take time to actually answer and all the answers of them spectacular.

I will dearly miss this part of SEOmoz and want to propose 2 possible solutions. This is just my $.02 feedback

Now is a business growing to 20,000 members 1st off I to excellent job everybody at SEOmoz

secondly obviously there are is the 4% of us who still would like to have access to private questions.

So I suggest these  4 things

A) either open it up to the next stage up to hundred dollar month plan only

B) or pay per question ( however to not change the limit)

I feel I know the answer to why both A and B would be a real challenge SEOmoz does not accept anybody off the street and just give them the teacher spoke and say hey your Qualified I believe it is very hard for SEOmoz to have the staff of the caliber that they have.

C) Distilled is still a outstanding consulting firm. And I know they answer tons of private questions all associates do. Would it be a possibility or am I just asking the same thing as I did before of putting the burden on the company that does technically still specialize in consulting distilled pay them X amount and make a profit or $200 plan up and distilled answers only.

D)You can make it so we can ask private questions once every 2 to 3 months? it would lighten the load may be a combination of everything suggested with some other people's suggestions. Everyone hears bright else think of some ideas to save something and if it can't work well at least we tried.

Now I'm saying this just because I would love to still keep this feature however I think distilled is in the same boat as far as needing beyond outstanding employees and frankly there is a shortage of people that can give the type of advice we've been getting. That said distilled is a consulting firm block off hours from them figure out the price based on the time it's taken to answer last year's results and give us a choice to purchase them or not.

I'm just trying to think of a plan but I will understand either way I have learned so much and am so grateful for all the wonderful people and advice private and public at SEOmoz I have NO intention of ever canceling my subscription over something like this because I know for a fact these guys are swamped with questions.

I can also understand Rand wanting his staff to be able to run the company the fact that less than 4% of us actually use private questions is a number I would've never guessed I would've said 50%. Regardless what happens to SEOmoz if it did become 30% and 45% than 75% the company could not be run as it is run today would all get less out of SEOmoz

I want to say something it's really important not to come down on the staff of SEOmoz there partners and affiliates and everyone who's been doing whoring to everyone a fantastic job of answering questions think about how hard it is to give advice that literally knocks your socks off I have been passed to 3 different people for one question because they want to give me the person that specialized in what I was asking about that is 1st class service so being Moz instead of wherever other company they're actually being transparent telling us why and they're actually listening to us speak so if it's a reasonable idea I would say don't get mad get creative movie can all find a happy medium. Where people don't pay would still get one question a year something like that.

If anyone can think of better ideas than I can would jump certain this community can  for once let's help SEOmoz with a tough question their facing where they have essentially made but I'm certain if we could find something that they actually liked him not to say where it is because I don't know what they'd say yes to but something that they would say yes to then well we would have to get a yes because it would be something they liked and said yes to.

I don't mean to ask people to come up with crazy ideas or threats I don't think even the people that believe this is a deal breaker can turn your back on the people that have given you valuable advice for quite a bit of time spending on who you are obviously.

I've seen a lot more Associates, staff and guru's in public Q&A however it seems they get swamped even their which brings me back to fighting against my own point that we are a bunch of star F'ers the guy with the most knowledge to somebody like myself who actually enjoys doing this is someone to look up to and aspire to be like. You think that's weird kids collect baseball cards all the time as to adults why because of their ability to do something extraordinary that they find amazing and helpful ( maybe not baseball cards unless you're selling them)

if I can ask Rand & the entire staff along with affiliates and partners please at least look over some of the suggestions I've made and if any of them even have a flicker of hope maybe we can work something out where that spark of ingenuity is lit and the solution is possible.

• No icebergs you have complete control of the code. If you know HTML you have 2 choices you can either edit from inside the WordPress site itself on the backend. Or you can do it over FTP whatever your favorite option is. As far as things that it cannot do that are search engine related there's nothing I can think of that is a negative about WordPress aside from the fact that it has a database and in my opinion needs a managed WordPress hosting company After being placed on a  managed WordPress host they are able to be faster than 100% HTML website.

Some advice use a managed WordPress host the security, speed and access to incredible free knowledge regarding WordPress is well worth it.

I would stick to Genesis 2.0 HTML 5 framework. Wootheams is also HTML 5 however if you're making a custom project I would strongly recommend making a Genesis-based website. In fact I have given you information on other WordPress sites below and all of them are built on Genesis 2.0

If you are looking for a developer I can recommend Gregreindel.com  you can go to his site and see quite a bit about all aspects of WordPress code itself that he actually was instrumental in building the Genesis 2.0 framework making it available far before anyone else had it and even Yoast.com was built using his own code that was ahead of everyone else.

One thing I would recommend if this is your 1st WordPress site is using a managed WordPress hosting company.

WordPress has a database so it is slightly slower than HTML sites however by using not only will you a managed WordPress host not only will you gather back the speed you lost you will have a company with a tremendous amount of WordPress knowledge when you need it.

I would recommend Pressable (ZippyKid rebranded recently), WP Engine, Get Flywheel, Pagely and web synthesis as everyone of them will help you out with a lot more than just hosting your website.

Cost wise getflywheel.com only is $15 also look at moz.com/perks for discounts from the WP engine as well as Pagely. ZippyKid renamed as Pressable gives you a lot for the money web synthesis gives you  free Genesis framework allowing you to buy themes for roughly $30. However you can purchase a theme for $100 that comes with the framework and if you want to buy additional themes you do not have to repurchase  framework ever so it is your best fit. I can tell you get flywheel is very eager to help and the least expensive.

If you're worried at all about search engine optimization and WordPress being a bad thing for it I cannot think of anything other than what I've stated that is negative about WordPress. Remember it might be slower on a regular host and it should not in my opinion be hosted on a regular shared hosting platform, however it definitely can be if needed.

You will want to install the Yoast WordPress SEO plug-in it is one of the best on the market if not the best. There are 2 versions the premium and free version. The only differences the premium comes with an automatic 301 redirect ability and support. Other than that the free one is probably your best bet because the premium is $80.

The only thing I can think of is Google is showing you what it last indexed and that does sound strange. However there is a other way to put your address on schema properly and quickly so you'll get the local search results you want.

If you prefer to use micro data which is almost the same thing as schema you can use this tool.

However I have been told not to mix the two causes some issues with search engines. So take schema or micro data is what I have recently been told I have been trying to get a solid confirmation so I think it's a possibility that it would make sense but don't want to tell you something that is not true.

My $.02 use the 1st tool and it will do the job just fine.

It is in the form of a Word press plug-in but also gives you the ability to create schema correctly right on the site and paste it into your code.

The nice thing about it is there's a little box to the right that gives you a exact match of what it's going to look like on your site.

If you don't want it to look like it formatted anything I would use the 1st tool. However both of them are excellent.

One last thing if you're using WordPress consider Yoast Local SEO it seems expensive but does a fantastic job

The solution of these problem is removing those render-blocking scripts. But if you remove them, some plugins may not work properly. So, the best solution for the smooth rendering is:

1. Remove them from your website source page.

2. Use a single script, hosted by Google as the alternative.

3. Push down the new script at end of the page ( before “” tag).

That’s all! Now the visible section of your page will be rendered smoothly.

Defer Loading JavaScript

Another suggestion from Google Page Speed tool is “Defer JavaScripts”. This problem happens when you use any inline JavaScripts like the scripts for Facebook like box or button, Google plus button, Twitter button etc. If you defer the JavaScript then the scripts are triggered after loading of the entire document.

How to defer JavaScript at WordPress

1. Create a JavaScript file and give the name as defer.js.

2. Place the JavaScripts codes that you want to defer into the defer.js file. For instance, if you want to defer Facebook like box script, paste the following at that file.

I agree with what you're saying about essentially the table of your peers it would cost probably $1000 a question to realistically get the people you do here in public Q&A to surround and answer your questions.

I think public and private are 2 very different things people plan for private and use it for things that cannot somehow had the wrong answer because there is this might hinge on whatever it is they're asking. I do agree you can ask things that you would not want to ask in public maybe they can set up a PM system You get X amount of private messages related to your public Q&A the downside is the public does not get to learn from it and that's a lot of what poet Q&A is.

I think the ability to have each was a great synergy and I can't wait for somebody to ask in a private question "how do we get private questions back on seomoz" hopefully no one will waste their time doing it. But when you look at the tools, community, staff, combination of advice and software is seen nowhere else on such a scale so regardless of what happens I will still be happy with seomoz I definitely don't think that them giving things away to people takes away from us that pay obviously if we were getting nothing more it would not be very fair however that is so far from the case I believe you are right when you say if someone's in a true jam the staff will help out I hope they will however been assumed that not anything more.

I have compiled a list of things that are needed before you launch. Run the Moz campaign mode and see if there are any errors do this by allowing Roger bot to index but not Google - http://moz.com/learn/seo/robotstxt

I would buy screaming frog SEO spider to index your website if over 500 pages and be certain there is no possible duplicate content and a simulated Google bot can index the site properly. This is most important. You can also Check the Way, Google would be your website through the eyes of Google bot using http://feedthebot.com or http://www.screamingfrog.co.uk/seo-spider/ . This will show you any errors when you run it through all the tools available.

Well this may sound very obvious, make sure no index no follow is in place right now if you do not want to go live & you are using a staging server. If you are using a staging server make sure to 301 redirect that link to your site use a rel canonical link to point to your new domain's site pages that were on the former staging server for instance. If you have an alias/staging server named example.staging–server.com who would want to follow the example below on the staging server to make sure there is no duplicate content. Screaming frog is awesome but deepcrawl.co.uk is amazing if you wanted to find the URLs that are 404 or external, broken, you name it it will do it very quickly and on a massive scale.

Ryan gave an excellent answer. Google is using other clues to pick up on new pages I'm not saying don't submit your sitemap I'm just saying add structured data/schema into your store as well. Check your crawl budget and see if your site is eating up too much of it and not being indexed properly by Google.

A simple test to see if something is being blocked is to run your site through https://varvy.com/

If you do not know, I would stress using Deep Crawl or screaming frog SEO spider

Navigation Is often one of many can cause problems where your site will not be crawled correctly.

To determine whether or not you have to crawl budget issue we got each can make independent image sitemaps and index sitemaps as well just to be sure that Google is getting what you want to.
